Erindale Park is located near Dundas and Missisauga road. It hugs the University of Toronto's Missisauga Campus (formerly Erindale Campus) and is a stone's throw away from the Mississauga golf and country club. The park is bifurcated by the Credit River which lends to the spectacular natural beauty of this place. You almost forget you're in a city populated almost entirely by customized Honda Civics and urban sprawl. I think it's a great place for a jog, a picnic, or "a wander" with a digital SLR. There are also built in BBQs for your convenience. And of course, because it's in Mississauga, there is a massive parking lot greeting you as you enter. Hurray! My husband, a friend and I, chartered Fish On Charter for a half day of fishing this month. What a…read morewonderful experience! We joined Captain Dave at the dock at 5:45 a.m. on August 12. The Captain and his mate were totally prepared for any eventuality that might occur. They were professional, courteous and all that could have been expected and more. It all began with a fresh cup of coffee and donuts. The boat provided the usual requirements plus all the fishing tackle, so we did not have to bring anything. The Captain was able to use his depth or sonar finder to locate many of the fish and with the help of his mate, assist us in finding our catch. All in all we caught 10 fish approximately 150 lbs of fish. One trout and nine salmon. Our six hours with Day ON Charter was our most memorable experience this Summer. We plan on doing this again next year when we look forward to taking one or two other couples with us. Our sincerest thanks to Captain Dave and his mate for a once in a lifetime experience. However, you still have to go pick up physical copy of the ticket from the booth. Once you arrive, they will also request you pay for the park entrance $10/person. As soon as you enter, if you park at the first parking lot (located to the right) this is closest to the course challenge area, plenty of picnic area, washrooms as well. If you continue to drive ahead, there is another parking which is very close to the chairlift area. Pick up your ticket and get in line. Along the way, there's options for food & drinks. There's seating area with a bonfire. The chairlift ride itself was only 10 mins or less. Once up there, go exploring a, following a route for a hike, the further you drift away the less people you see but be careful! Keep children close, there are plenty of area which are steep cliffs. It can be very dangerous. There are signs all around which was good to see. The hike was so peaceful, amongst the trees, It's maintained well. We did often feel like we may be lost so stay vigilant, the area is large. The last ride up was 5pm which means they stay ensuring everyone is getting back down. we waited in line for about 15-20 mins. Staff was wonderful, they were cheerful, answered all of our questions. Tips: don't loose your ticket, you need it to go back down. Wear proper gear, it was cold!

Gord and I headed to Etienne Brule Park yesterday afternoon. We've never been to this park so it was fun to check it out. We headed up the Humber River and followed it to Dundas Street W. There are six dams and we saw salmon jumping in half of them. The changing leaves were gorgeous! Though we didn't see any salmon make it up and over, people were cheering and encourage the salmon. It was a fun afternoon and I'm glad we checked it out.

The park it self features trails, fountains, bridges overlooking falls, multiple look out points, streams & plenty of shade. It's beautiful in the spring, summer & fall. (varies) The sandy area is quite large, lot's of room to spread out. The water is pretty clean, and is a nice temperature. You can also rent paddle boats and canoes and such for additional fees. They also have a large water slide for the kids to go on. Unfortunately, for some strange reason the day we went it was closed which disappointed the kids. This is a nice clean area to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and can enjoy the beach. 4/5

There are plenty of fun playhouses and an apparatus for kids to play and have fun. Adults can spent time strolling around and enjoying the greenery. There are benches and places to sit if you want to people-watch. It housed a ton of ribfest vendors. I can see why many events end up being held here. It's a perfect place to have fun and relax. Parking can be a bit of a problem if there is an event. I had first thought about parking at the Port Credit Library lot, but it was full. Side street parking was crazy. I ended up landing a spot at the Port Credit GO and walking over to the park. I'd love to come back to this park, unwind, and see what it's like without the ribfest activities happening. It was so relaxing walking by the water and through the forest. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold - just right! We walked by many families fishing at the river and also noticed the tree top trekking/zip line above. We want to return to try this next time! There were families having BBQ's at picnic sites which were reserved (guessing you can book them online/through the park ahead of time). They also had a splash pad and pool - wish we brought our bathing suits!! They also had an ice cream truck positioned close to the splash pad and you know we had to get some dipped cones after our hike in the woods. Bring your bills/coins - the truck is cash only. Note, if you have one of the Canada 150 park passes, it does not work for free entry here. For entry for four adults we paid $26. All in all, Heart Lake is a lovely place to visit super close to Brampton.
