A mixed bag. Here's why:
Affordable tix, easy to bike to, some great music, mediocre food, poor organization. Read more for details....
Steel Pulse and Flailing Idiot were best for me, with The Philharmonik doing a great job. Aaron Wolf struggled to sound as good as recordings and KRS-One spent most of the set trying to get the sound right, complaining about that, and talking about hip-hop and other things rather than actually performing.
Food was also mixed bag: Cajed always shows up with great food, had the most watery horchata imaginable, jumbo tacos were good but smaller than City Tacos and other drinks were limited and sad: never found any water filling stations, and as they don't allow you to bring water in, be prepared to pay for everything you drink.
Leaving the show was a mess. There was no lighting for the walk to the exit from main stage - someone broke an ankle in the dark and ambulance needed - many trip hazards until we got within a few hundred feet of exit.
Lastly their website and socials were mediocre. Never saw a map ever, one section says aluminum water bottles OK - another prohibits them, difficult to find door times with some info on website, some on FB, some on Instagram, "cashless" but several merchants wanted cash....
I'll go again probably. Ohana Festival was much better for me in many ways, but a drive and more $ but better music, food bar. read more
