It includes cultures like Samoa, Guam, Filipino, Hawaiian, and basically anything islander. This is a wonderful experience with the most loveliest Hawaiians/Samoans. They are so rich in tradition and culture its just beautiful. The attire, the people, food is really alluring. Ive learned some things from the people that attended this event. Its a peaceful event with no trouble at all! Definitely not a snoop dogg event or anything lmaoooo! The food at the vendors is definitely very expensive. I bought a Filipino dessert, halo halo for 15$! Crazy! But it was pretty delish!

I got to Liberty station shortly after the event began, and parking was still plentiful. While the line looked intimidating, it moved pretty quickly after they began organizing multiple lanes. Lines for food inside the event also moved pretty quickly, and I was able to eat my taco while waiting for my next bite. There were a ton of wine and spirits options but some nonalcoholic beverage options as well. The restaurants that showed up showed OUT. While they did start running out towards the end of the event, there were a lot of quality ingredients on display. There was a live band that really set the mood, and lots of cute decor. There were definitely more booths than I had time or stomach space to hit. I think I literally ate 10 tacos and several beverages, and was so stuffed that I had to drink pu'er tea for digestion when I got home. I sampled fantastic shrimp tacos, ceviche, steak, street tacos, and more creative offerings including a Korean inspired taco and a bbq inspired taco. I did not stay for the taco competition at the very end, in order to beat traffic leaving Liberty station. However, I had an amazing time at this event and cannot wait for this festival to roll back around next year! I hope to make it to the Grand Tasting next year.

Maybe because the economy this year isn't as great, and budget cuts for the different brands to do super fun stuff weren't available, but nonetheless a great experience. I actually think the outside activations around the gaslamp district are waaaay cooler and that doesn't require a badge, but it requires either early RSVP which is hard/competitive/timing is tricky or hours of waiting in line (which I did all of once). But still a cool event! I'd highly recommend coming other days. The energy is very good and it'd probably be easy to make friends here.

Apart from there being several venues where the bands were late or there was no actual music at all (despite it being advertised with set times), and the weird VIP tacos & beer deal, this event was a fun and unique experience for my partner and I. We had a friend tag along who seemed to maybe feel like there were more negatives than positives, but as someone who has been to ~30 music festivals and has lived in areas (not SD) where there are a ton of pretentious artists, I really liked how different this experience felt! Being able to bar hop to different live music sets is such a cool concept, and I loved that it was cover-free! We didn't feel pressured to buy drinks or food anywhere but we did end up doing that at almost every business we went to anyway. Some of the venues were packed and had a line for entry, but we were having enough fun that we didn't really mind the wait. We started around 3pm and headed home around 10pm, although the band we were watching still had two hours left (they were pretty good and super fun)! We got five different venues plus the "food court" in. There was a fun mix of music, a lot of which I don't usually listen to. So it was cool to experience something new. Now, the VIP meal deal thing was kinda weird. Yes, $25 is a great deal for three beers and a taco plate, but the setup was super odd. It was in a church which I believe is still being used as a church, or maybe it's just a community center now. The church is about a block or so from Adams Ave, and you can hear the music in the distance fade as you approach. We got inside and there was a bouncer in the hall, and it was pretty quiet. At first we were like "are we in the right place," but then we saw tacos and beer in the distance and thought "yeah probably." Inside there was a mission brewing tent with two dudes pumping two different kinds of beer from a mobile drink system thing, and over to the right there were long food hall-style tables with folding chairs and a self-serve taco station. I didn't love the beer options and later found out I could have opted for wine instead (from the church?). The tacos were actually fire, but they had run out of pico de gallo by the time we got our food (around 4:30). We also saw a lot of people use their hands to add cheese directly to their tacos and that was pretty gross... All in all, would do again!

Another great Unplugged day in the books…read more Maybe I'm biased (I am the Baron of Normal Heights), but I always have a great time at Adams Avenue Unplugged. It's easily one of the best events that the Adams Avenue Business Association puts on. Lots of great music hosted at some great bars, restaurants, cafes, Adams Avenue Theater, and even Normal Heights United Methodist Church where I caught California Guitar Trio. Mark your calendars for next year. I suggest taking public transportation or ridesharing. Recommended restaurants: Blind Lady Ale House and Zia Gourmet Pizzeria. Friendly suggestion for the Association: please offer vegan options for the next VIP Beer and Food Deal. Thanks, AABA!

Before coming to UCSD, I was aware of this "tradition" but didn't think that it would be such a grandiose deal! It is literally like a "free" coachella to those who couldn't make it. And the best part? It is on campus! Since UCSD doesn't have close by rival schools, and we are divided into six colleges, the best way to bring the school together is by music. Sungod is hosted at RIMAC Field Spring Quarter, May time around Week 5-Week 8. This year it was on May 3, 2015. The theme is "carnival", so there were a lot of free carnival rides, carnival food, and amazing performances! Rockstar was one of the sponsors and came out to pass out free Rockstar drinks for the (dehydrated) students. This field is also used for Graduation in the June, and it is also located right next to RIMAC Annex (where the basketball games are), RIMAC Gym, and ERC college. Most of the time when I pass by, I only see the baseball/softball/soccer team practicing, so majority of the time it is empty. RIMAC field can hold up to about 20,000 people comfortably....with still lots of rides and space to sit around and chill! There are a few restrooms located by the very bottom of the entrance upon entering, but during Sungod they bring in many more portables. Overall, RIMAC field is HUGE and definitely a fun place to host any type of large scale event! A concert would be amazing here! But I wonder how they keep up with watering the grass, since its so large.... Either way, if you come to UCSD, RIMAC Field is probably something you will drive by/walk by/pass by! On weekends, there are a lot of games hosted here.

Note that there were no backpacks allowed. It's a great space for a big outdoor concert like Jack Johnson. HUGE field with all open seating. Since there are NO REAL SEATS, this one pays to get there early to be seated close to the stage. There was only wine and beer at this event. I would've liked some frozen cocktails. There were also a bunch of food vendors. I didn't partake, but we saw people with hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, wood fired pizza, crepes, lemonade, etc. The food vendors were CASH ONLY. There were some ATMs there, but unfortunately issues with the network or electricity, so those without cash without cash were out of luck. There was a booth with merchandise, but unfortunately they ran out of sweatshirts very early in the evening. It was a really fun concert even with us being really far back on the grass field. We could hear everything and are still able to have a conversation with our friends. Pretty good for a concert venue in San Diego. I would definitely want to show up early, bring a blanket and sweatshirt!
