Looking for a wetsuit for my wife and went to Sport Chalet. Their wetsuits were so expensive, but then I found SCUBA.COM. We saw the best selection and prices on SCUBA.COM but were hesitant to purchase something online...gotta try out a wetsuit. So we called and found their location and drove down! We were greeted by Dan who was more than helpful. We had no idea what kind of suit we wanted so he helped us find a great suit. My wife felt kinda bad since she tried on "all the suits in the shop," but really it was like 5. Dan was super patient and, like I said, helped my wife find "her wetsuit." I am a relatively new diver and had several questions about dealing with visual impairments. I had the pleasure of online chatting with Darrick, one of the scuba instructors. Not only was he knowledgeable, and extremely helpful, but also very understanding when I explained my budgetary constraints. He was able to recommend several products, was very intuitive and made suggestions that would help me enjoy my dives more. I've been intimidated by more experienced divers, as in the past, I've faced impatience and annoyance at my lack of experience and the need for reinforcement of skills. AMAZING Open Water Scuba Classes!!! The open water scuba class is just phenomenal, from the quality of instruction to the robustness of the program. They were very prepared and organized each day making a seamless experience for me and allowed me to focus on growing my knowledge and skills as a diver. They are so patient and really want to make sure you understand how to do each skill so you are safe under water. The price is a great deal as well because it includes instruction, all of your scuba gear rentals, and two round trip ferry rides to Catalina. I even got some photos of me diving Catalina included! Kristina, Tom, and Darrick were my instructors and I truly give them my highest praise for making this class so fun and informative and will recommend them to any friends I have that want to get certified in the future. Three years ago, when they didn't have enough customers they were very helpful and nice. I purchased most of my stuff from them. Today, I went back after 3 years and same people still working there; however, they were very rude and not friendly to the effect that my friend who was with me and is not a diver looked at me and said, "dude, lets get out of here. This is BS". Extremely rude and not helpful at all. I only had a service question and they made us wait for half an hour because the salesman was flirting with a shopper. Salt water pool, check. Scenic views, check. Kristina led our class with a great knowledge and love for scuba diving. I've had my fair share of almost "sleeping with the fishes" in my lifetime (near-drowning), however, Kristina's confident and pleasant demeanor had me feeling not only an inner sense of peace, but the fear I've held onto all these years quickly disappeared, as I found myself in the deeper pool, descending and clearing my ears like a seasoned diver. My wife and I just finished our Padi Open Water certification through Scuba.com and it was absolutely amazing. So much so that I'm writing my first review ever. Our instructors were Tom and Darrick. They were super friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, great teachers and had endless fun and exciting dive adventures to share. They are both great guys too that really care about their students and their job. I couldn't say enough good things about the experience. The organization and flexibility of the course was great too. It was all-inclusive, one price (no nickle and diming on gear, tanks, etc.). The program was efficient and fun. The sign up process was easy. Kristina helped me figure out what I needed to do, forms to fill out, etc. and was super helpful and friendly every time I called. I just finished my PADI Advanced Diving certification through Scuba.com and it was a fabulous experience. I had used another dive company previously to get my initial certification and there is no comparison between the two companies. Scuba.com was much more professional and the instructors are patient and extremely knowledgeable. My instructor Tom was particularly great. Tom makes you feel like there is no such thing as a stupid question and never scolds you but rather makes constructive suggestions that he explains throughly as to why they will make you a better diver. The classes are small and personalized as opposed to the cattle car type boat experience I had with the previous dive shop. I went here a week after lobster season started in hopes that I could get some dive lights. Three lights I chose were all out of stock but they didn't show up in their computers. I ended up spending more money than i wanted because of this. Also I had to wait at least 15 minutes to get help because there was one person there in front of me. All you have to do is check their computers to find out if an item is in stock, but the guy didn't bother letting me know that till after he was finished. Overall it was a cool place, and great prices. They do run both an online site and a warehouse, so they are busy. I'm sure my next visit will be better! read more

The bag is padded and my Octo, regulators and gauge setup fit in easily. 1 018825 Scubamax Large Deluxe Duffel Bag Bag This was a shot in the dark on the purchase. I needed a bag for my scuba gear and wasn't looking to pay a fortune for it. I scored.The bag is big enough for my BCD, the Octo bag, two scuba masks/snorkels, two sets of fins and the dive hanger and dive repair kit. I still have some room left for a change of clothes. The material is good weight and the zippers are heavy duty. When full it will not qualify as a carry on for flights. It has a shoulder strap which will be needed when I get it all loaded up. 1 030141 XS Scuba Save A Dive Kit A good start. The instructor that I am working with is a great teacher and very patient. He will answer all of your questions and if you are having any difficulty on dives he is more than willing to assist you. All of the course material is explained thoroughly so you have a good deal of knowledge before your first dive as long as you do the required reading before your class sessions. The rental gear is in very good condition for your training dives. The dive shop both in store and online have the best prices I have seen anywhere. Most of their new gear is even lower priced than used from Play it Again Sports and other used sporting good sellers. Just be sure to order what you need well before your dive, because they might not have it in stock. The staff in house might try to push you on certain pieces of gear, but they wont sell you something just because it has the highest price point. Overall, Scuba.com offers great training courses with competitive prices and the best equipment selection I have seen. read more

The upside to Scuba.com is that they have a wide selection of gear and it is often a one stop shop. Most of my orders have been complete and on time. However, there have been exceptions and they are starting to become more frequent. I also have experienced orders where it will say items are available and only much later find out that they are back-ordered and my shipment is delayed. Just recently an order took almost two weeks to ship, and it was split because one of the items was back ordered. The customer service representative wasn't rude, but not very friendly. I will probably stick with Scuba.com because it is easy, but I think that some changes are needed. read more
