My first dive post-certification was with Ruth, and her enthusiasm for sharing her dive park "office" with everyone is contagious! She took her time going through the steps, getting to know us, and preparing us for our dive. Fast forward 2 years to now, and I planned a trip with my boyfriend who wanted to try diving. I knew exactly who to call! Ruth made sure we were all set throughout the booking process, gave clear instructions for accessing the training beforehand, and explained what we would need to bring the day of. She has such a fantastic teaching style, helping to make scuba skills more relatable to everyday tasks. She is patient and does not rush. Once in the water, my boyfriend was feeling stressed about completing the initial skills and getting used to breathing underwater. Ruth maintained her patience and composure the entire time. She was encouraging and lead with kindness, and helped him through the initials nerves and panic. Once we were off, Ruth does a great job of leading dives, pointing out sea life and many things that you might miss if you are new to diving. So now we can't fill the tank. I called yesterday and Jeff neither apologized or offered to rectify the situation. He just told me I'd need to come in when the "viz specialist" was there. Why? If they're so good at their job, how did they miss that step?! Or, I could go to the Cypress location and any manager there could affix the sticker. Ok, so...only a "viz specialist" at the HB store, and a manager at Cypress?! Make it make sense! Horrible staff and customer service. You guys should stay closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".

This is the dive shop that will make sure you get the equipment you actually need to do the diving that you want. They service equipment, so they know what's actually good and you don't have to buy stuff twice. I wish I would have gone here first, I would have saved some money! ....and there was this one time that I walked in to the shop and was ready to spend $2,500 on a new drysuit. I walked out of the shop with nothing. ...Nothing but a homework assignment! He told me that he would sell me any drysuit I wanted, but I had to tell him why I wanted that specific suit. I ended up buying a Bare reactive 5mm suit and a hooded vest, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! ... and there was this one time that I walked into the shop wanting to buy a full face mask regulator. Instead of buying it and seeing if i like it, I was able to book a dive and test out the equipment. I can't say enough good things about this dive shop! Wonderful humans who tell you like it is. This is my permanent dive shop! If you live within 100 miles you should totally come here! Long story short, this is my new dive shop! In 4 months of purchasing an underwater cert course, the dive shop only offered one class. After not being able to attend this course and me moving states, I asked for a refund. This process has been conducted very poorly. In email threads, they have accused me of ignoring the invitation to the course when I have given them proof of my contact with the instructor, saying I won't be able to attend. Still, they say I have never been in contact with the dive shop. Now going to PADI to try and get a refund. Overall, I have not had a good experience with Dive and Photo.

After researching and reading numerous reviews I came across Belle Charters and Captain Tom. Whatever our expectations were, nothing prepared us for the welcoming gracious experience we had. What started out as an exciting day at sea turned into one of my best memories with my father. Captain Tom provided drinks and food; breakfast and an amazing fish taco lunch (special family recipe), as well as the bait and rigs for fishing. Good price, especially considering that this regulator is nearly 40 years old and has seen heavy use in the past. The gun was unusable for the entire trip. Total disaster. When I got home, I reached out to Spear America and Noah immediately diagnosed the issue, identified the correct spear, and went a step further. He swapped out the incorrect European tip so I wasn't stuck paying twice to get the job done right. That kind of service is rare. He didn't have to do it. He chose to. Saved me money, solved the problem, and turned a frustrating trip into something I can laugh about now. Customer for life. The crew was so friendly and attentive, especially to us newbies. They checked on everyone, made sure we felt safe, and never once made anyone feel inexperienced. That matters when it's your first open water dives. After dive two, they had HOT chicken soup waiting for us and it was actually good. Not just "boat food" good -- legit comforting after being in the water. There were also plenty of snacks between all three dives, which we definitely appreciated. Now that we're certified, we'll absolutely be back to dive Catalina with them again. Even the more experienced divers on board were welcoming and kind. It honestly felt like one big happy dive family. Can't wait to get back out there

So it's been a few weeks, actually about a month and I'm a super happy customer. I have taken…read morealmost every boat out and I have my favorites. The kids really like the Key West bow rider, my wife loves the the center console and I think I like the pilot house best. We have explored several of the local harbors including Long Beach, San Pedro and Alamitos bay. The water inside the break wall is so nice and smooth and it's been lots of fun getting up and close to the container ships, cruise ships and even the Queen Mary. We are planning our first trip to Catalina and the kids can't wait. I think we're going to get a Hotel the first time but after that I look forward to camping near two harbors, it's going to be a blast. The boats are nice and very reliable and the company has great policies and procedures to fall back on just in case the boat does actually break down. Sea Tow memberships, GPS tracking systems and a good VHS radio keep you safe. If you're gonna go far away or even stay the night somewhere you create a float plan so they always know where you're at. There's a little bit of training involved no matter what kind of boating experience you have. They don't just hand you the keys and tell you to go have fun. They educate you about the local hazards, tides and wind patterns. They teach you how to handle breakdowns, man overboard situations and who to contact and how to contact the different harbormasters, police agencies, fire departments and Coast Guard dispatchers. The staff is awesome. The owner is very nice and I think fair. He runs his company with rules and regulations but he's also human and treats his customers like they are a friend or maybe even family. I have witnessed him go over and above for not just my family but others too. His employees are extremely nice and again very well trained with great attention to detail in customer service. They have a system in place that literally get you in and out quickly and safely so that you can enjoy yourself on the water. The owner and his staff really make a difference and bring a tremendous amount of value to the program. Again, I'm a very happy customer and if the idea of owning a boat something you're considering I highly recommend you check this place out first. There's no maintenance, there's no slip fees, there's no trailers and there's no storage. You don't waist your time cleaning the boat. All you do is drive the boat and then park it and walk away, again I highly recommend Freedom Boat Club especially the Huntington Beach location.

I've been a member of freedom BC for over 2 years SW. Florida corporate member. It's been getting…read moreharder and harder to get boats, seems to many members not enough boats and lots of breakdowns lately. When I signed up, I was told and promised that I would be able to use my sea time with freedom boat club towards USCG Captain's license. 2 years & over 100 days waisted!! They've been bouncing me from supervisor to supervisor for over 6 months and still have not produced the documentation. They will not provide see-Time documents as they promise. Be very careful with these shady people. Nothing like being lied to and given the run around... Thanks for the BS Freedom BC.
