This will stop number three and my thought is even if we never see a whale. It's always a pleasant way to spend a few hours out on the water.. Everyone on the boat was super professional and informative. We really appreciate Laura spitting facts at us and making sure we knew what was going on. At one point, I was standing in front of the boat and I was about to go sit back down, but Laura told me to stay because she knew we would see something soon and we saw a Fin whale, which we stopped for a while to watch come up and down and no matter what it's always magical. We ran into a bunch of dolphins and watching them chop and play as always fulfilling. There's no way you can go wrong with this excursion, especially with a discount. They seem to always be offering. They also give all the birthday people a drink cozy. Highly recommend a great way to spend a few hours..

This was by far the worst whale watching tour I've ever taken. I've done whale watching multiple…read moretimes before -- in Boston and other locations -- and every other tour actually went out into deeper waters where whales are usually found. This tour, however, barely left the coastline. If whales could be seen that close to shore, I could have just stood on the beach and saved my money. The trip was advertised as 2 to 2.5 hours, but it only lasted about 1.5 hours. Most of that time was spent heading back toward the harbor, and then we sat near the harbor entrance for around 20 minutes just watching sea lions. I honestly don't understand why anyone should pay $50 per person just to look at something you can easily see from the shore. It felt misleading and disappointing. The boat never seriously attempted to go offshore, where whales are actually located. What made this even more frustrating was that I specifically asked the staff before booking whether we were likely to see whales, and they assured me we would. Do not waste your money on this tour.

We saw ridiculously scenic coastline views, which added to the magic of the trip. While we only saw bottlenose dolphins (tons of them), the cruise was still spectacular and definitely worth the ticket price. Plus, due to a last minute change on their end we happened to get upgraded to the higher end smaller boat with less people. There were lots of moments of sheer joy (we geeked out pretty hard) at getting to visit the dolphins up close in their natural environment. Others around us expressed feeling similarly. What also set this cruise apart was Dani and Jill. Their extensive knowledge about local marine life and its patterns enriched our experience significantly. They shared fascinating and often hilarious insights (Jill is a character - in all the best ways) about the dolphins and the surrounding ecosystem, which made the cruise both highly entertaining and educational. Their genuine excitement for marine wildlife is so evident and it really made the experience all the more enjoyable and fun. We had a great time, and we can't thank Dani and Jill enough for their dedication to making sure everyone had a memorable adventure. Highly recommend this cruise to anyone looking to get out of their head and spend time soaking up amazing views! Ps. Don't be an idiot like me - remember to wear sunscreen because a boat can't outrun the sun (obviously... ‍) Pss. Rent the $5 binoculars

The cruise of lights is put on by Orange County's Philharmonic Society. Tickets were $26 per person and the proceeds go to youth musical education programs. Not too expensive and for a good cause, I'm in! We met in a plaza, where they took you by school bus to the yacht club to get on the cruise. Everything ran so smoothly, from check in, the bus ride, and until arriving at the dock. My group, and the people in my line had come early. There was a line that later formed next to us as people trickled in later, closer to show time and even late! Yet, they all got on the boat first. My line was left getting on an already full boat with what looked like only poor seating was left. I didn't think this was really fair as we'd braved the cold for much longer. They were really trying to get a few more of us on the full boat. I tried to keep the holiday spirit but was not getting on that boat. Other in line expressed that they were not happy either and none of us wanted to get on the full boat. We were all able to get on the next boat :) It also said that there would be Christmas music and there was! It was fun, there was a live local high school band performing for us in line at the dock. Christmas music was also played on the boat. It also stated that there would be a narrated tour, but I will say it got a little awkward some bits, there were few giggles and wandering eyes. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't a description of the decorated homes like "on your right is a home decorated with white lights and red bows". I do wish more homes participated, there were even times where we were left in dark, because of how dark a certain area was! This doesn't count against Cruise of Lights though, just a thought on what to expect. Despite those little tiffs, everything was still enjoyable. Even the fog cleared up so we could see everything better. Although a little unorganized, there were many staff members directing, and all were very nice. The cruise definitely got us in the mood for Christmas! Would I do this again? I would, like I said it is inexpensive and it goes to a good cause, they mean well. I'd do it again, but with so many other Christmas events/activities available, Cruise of Lights probably won't be at the very top of my list.
