Scuba.com is an awesome dive shop! My husband and I have purchased a wetsuit, BCDs, dive watches, and a replacement fin strap here. This store is clean, fully stocked, and laid out in an easy way to navigate in and out of. We've never felt overwhelmed and always receive exceptional customer service. The staff is friendly, efficient, and knowledgable. We worked with Kristina and she went out of her way to answer our questions about dive watches, as well as ensure we received the best products that fit our budget. Also, she was happy to talk about dive sites locally and internationally, the dive shop's club, etc. We never felt rushed throughout the process. Kristina provided sound follow through by calling and emailing us about the status update of part of our order. We will definitely be visiting scuba.com in-person or online for future purchases. THE COSTA MESA STORE IS CLOSED! Ignore the Chat feature on Scuba.com which says they have a store in Costa Mesa. The store closed in late 2024, I believe. Scuba.com is under the same ownership as Adorama, and products can be ordered over the internet. I was told that Miguel still services equipment, working from his home in the Costa Mesa area. The internet store has a broad selection, good pricing, and ships promptly. But, you will have to find someone local to service it. This is a big disappointment, as I have been buying from Scuba.com since 2004, and they have always serviced my equipment. read more

Terrible customer service from Darrick Cusick and others. This was an email I sent to the president, upon calling customer service and being given what was supposed to be the president's email address. I sent this almost two weeks ago and never received a response. I also have tried unsuccessfully to unsubscribe from their marketing emails several times. It always says I'm unsubscribed and then keeps sending them. I had a very poor experience with Darrick Cusick recently and when I called to ask how to file a complaint, I was given your email. My apologies if this is not the correct method for filing complaints. A few weeks ago (I think it was the first Monday in November), I started searching scuba.com for a travel BCD and other items I will need for an upcoming trip to southeast Asia. My fiance told me to email and request a package because he had done so a couple years before and had been really satisfied with the help he had received. I used the live chat function to request a package, and was told to email Darrick my request. I emailed Darrick on 11/14 with my friendly request. I didn't hear anything for two days so I emailed him again on 11/16 letting him know I really wanted to take advantage of your Cyber Monday sales so I would appreciate if he could respond. He responded on 11/17 saying he needed my measurements and my address, which I provided that same day. I didn't hear anything for 5 days, so on 11/22 I followed up again asking for the package and a quote. I received no response. I then called yesterday (the final day of your sale, and a full two weeks after I had requested a package) and left a voicemail at his extension in the morning in which I requested that he "please, please, please" call me back so that I could order this before the sale price ended. I then followed up that voicemail with another email in which I let him know I would be filing a complaint. I still have not received a response. I really needed and wanted help choosing a package. Against my better judgment, I ended up supporting your business by choosing things of my own last night. It was very stressful and ended up causing a fight between me and my fiance because he had to stay up late working and then take time away from that to help me choose items from your website. I would really like this to be made right by receiving an apology from Darrick (unless something crazy happened in his life like his child or partner dying, in which I would totally understand), and some sort of financial compensation, like an additional discount on the items we ended up purchasing last night. If this isn't made right, I definitely intend to write reviews about my experience wherever I can, share my experience with my FB community (I have many friends who also dive), and not support your business again in the future. Placed 1 order Scuba.com and have since received endless daily spam marketing emails. I've tried to unsubscribe, block them and even contacted customer service with zero success. At this point, I'm not sure how they're successful at spamming me, but it's so annoying. Do not order from Scuba.com unless you want to receive an endless barrage of spam! read more

Ok, here's what you need to know if you go to their physical location. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. They have a crazy large warehouse, but they have squat displayed which makes it hard for you to impulse buy. They have computer kiosks that allow you to search for anything you desire and you know when you're searching if if it's behind the magic door just to your side. Find what you want and hit a bell on the pole in front of you and a few minutes later, your order is brought out to you. I realized it was time to update some of my gear, So I started with my local dive shops and then as a matter of comparison I went online. After checking a number of sites I decided upon scuba.com. This review is based solely on their customer service and nothing else. I ordered a tank during their sale was pleasantly surprised to see that the price covered shipping. That's were the service ended... I received the tank quickly, I believe 3-4 days to get it. I took it to my shop to have it visually inspected and put into service. However, there was problem with the tank and it would not be passed for use. They showed me the problem and it appeared to have a black soot type substance in the tank itself. Due to the time difference between California and New York, (their base) I had to wait till morning to call. When I called, I got a call center who admittedly had nothing to do with the shop and was in fact "only a call center". I called back and through the automated steps was able to get the Costa Mesa Store location. Being on hold wasn't an option so I would have to call back later... I had a job in the area and decided to call on my way. After 11 minutes on hold, a voice comes on and states that "due to a high call volume, I'll have to call back". I called right back and again after 11 minutes got the same message. Me, being stubborn and having nothing but time sitting in LA traffic heading to Costa Mesa, I decided to call back two more times. I pulled into the parking lot after 44 minutes of call back/hold times in 11 minute increments. There was a part of me that wanted to walk into the store blaring their hold music on my phone but decided against that childish behavior. Once i entered the store a gentleman did greet me right away and asked what the problem was. I explained and said based on the problems, I'd rather have my money back vs a replacement tank. He said no problem and did the return paperwork right away. I asked about return time and he said "2-3 days depending on your bank". I said no problem and he went as far as to write his employee number down in the event there was an issue. The issue was the refund time... According to my invoice and return receipt, I purchased the tank on the 3-27. Shipped out 3-28. Returned 4-4. I did not get my money back until 4-19 and that was only after I threated to file a complaint with my credit card and the BBB. I've always tried to shop small but the price was to good to pass up. Their prices are decent but their service is terrible. I'll pay a few extra bucks to get better service every time. read more

Customer Service: Scuba.com location at Costa Mesa CA We just left your store. First of all, you guys have the golden employee at that location by the name of Miguel Lupercio. There is another gentleman there with him he is also 5star quality (for the record, today is June 28,2022 Tuesday and we got there at about 5:30pm and was there till 6:42pm). We have our 12 and 11 yr old son who both have autism and sensory challenges. Miguel was extremely kind, patient and generously helpful fitting not only myself and my husband but our boys also. The other gentleman was also helpful looking for sizes and color our 11 yr old wanted. We are doing a last minute purchase of a full snorkel, masks, fins, socks and accessories to travel to Hawaii and we are stressed out of our eyeballs. This gentlemen, specially Miguel provided one of the most amazing customer service we have encountered. We are forever local customer to Scuba.com because of him and the other gentleman at your Costa Mesa location. We came a bit late and they didn't rush us out. We can't thank them enough. We will post this review everywhere and we will tell all friends and family not only of Scuba.com but of this specific location. Scuba.com you guys have an amazing employees in those two gentleman. I am a bit stunned by how bad my experience has been. This is a once great shop (Scuba + Adorama) now fallen. I bought 2 tanks from them, the shipment would come with a valve that I didn't prefer so I called up Customer Care. They told me to simply refuse the shipment and that I would see my money in 4 business days. I refused the shipment of 2 tanks. The 2 tanks reached their NJ returns warehouse per UPS. After 4 business days had passed, I only got a refund for one of them. When I called up Customer Care, I would get no response except that the returns team would look into it and let me know in "one business day". This kept going on for weeks before I gave up and reached out to my credit card company. The folks were courteous but it was clear as off shore customer care they had no way to influence this. Also, it is a bit absurd that every Scuba company has US based customer care that you can eventually escalate to and get at least an understanding of what is going on. This was 3 months ago! Eventually, I got exhausted with the process of having my ~$300 disappear down the black hole and then start posting reviews online. Then, 3 days later, all of a sudden they reach out with a refund saying that either UPS or they had lost one of the tanks. So why not tell me before? They had the gall to ask me to edit and change the stars on the review . Sketch af! Support your local dive shop, folks. If you must buy online, there are multiple wonderful dive shops (DRIS, DGX, Paragon or Extreme Exposure) that I'd whole heartedly recommend over these people. Used their on-line service, so visiting their storefront was on the agenda when I visited Orange County. Located in an industrial park, I had a hard time finding parking until I found their south lot. As others have mentioned, there are no displays of merchandise here, you use their kiosks to order up the items you're interested in, and someone brings them out for to try (in the case of a sized item like a wet suit) or look at. An associate appears to help you decide and ring you up. It's not my most favorite way of shopping, but I can easily see this concept expanding. Very happy to actually try on the wet suits instead of swagging the manufacturer's sizes! Reasonable prices, definitely looking forward to returning and possibly taking a class in the future! It's rare that I do make it down to the retail store as most of my orders are done online. Shipping is always prompt and if I have any issues or concerns with any item, they offer one of the best return/exchange policies around. The shop is located in an industrial area and serves as both a warehouse for their online storefront as well (as such, prices are competitive). When you walk in, it can seem a bit confusing because there is zero merchandise to be seen. What you do is go to a few computer kiosks (it has instructions) for you to start picking things out, and then an employee runs things to you (and they're fast!). This can be a bit intimidating if you don't know what you're looking for, especially sine there is so much selection. Cue the great assistants/employees. We worked with Chance , and he was super informative and patient. We tried out a lot of different gear, and the poor guy demo'ed and also had to put away A LOT of merchandise that we tried but did not buy (and he never griped about this). This is a great place to shop and arrange for scuba dives. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly - Andrew is a great manager and dive leader. Just completed a three dive trip to Coronado Islands. One location had better visibility than my dive to Belize last month. Price for Coronado trip was 25% than a competitor. Boat was from Water Horse Charters which was excellent charter. Great time and excellent diving. And if you want to purchase equipment - I primarily use Scuba.com. You can try equipment and return if you don't like equipment. Prices are great, lots of sales, and they have great used equipment for sale. Much better return policy than any other local OC shops. I went to the retail store to replace an aging wetsuit and worn out BC. At first, I thought I was in the wrong place. It's in an industrial area with no other visible retail. It turns out the store is attached to the warehouse for a large website. A bit unusual in that the showroom isn't packed with gear. Only a few items are out. You shop onscreen with a very knowledgeable salesperson (mine was Aaron), and the items you are interested in are brought out quickly from the warehouse. There are several large clean try-on rooms.
