I can remember coming to this shop ever since I was little. The smell of pine, the touristy yet awesome items. Sure, they've got the same stuff that 90% of the other shops have, but something about this store for me is different. They've got every blueberry, Maine, Acadia, and Bar Harbor item you could need - clothes, books, souvenirs, home decor, and more spread out over two floors. I think this store probably has the most stuff out of any store in the downtown Bar Harbor area, but because of the size of the space it's not packed in like at some other shops. Prices are high, the items are touristy, but what do you expect? It's all about the nostalgia for me.

I found a few items for myself, my mom, and my daughter inside and the staff were very friendly. We stopped in here a few times and I saw a few different people working behind the counter and all greeted us immediately and were friendly. Make sure to stop in here while in town - it's got more than most of the other shops when you take it all in.

However, I decided to drive by one last time at noon today on my way back to Boston and THERE WAS A HINT OF LIGHT. I parked, I ran-walked-skipped, and I barged right through those doors thinking to run into either Loren or Shawn. But nay, I was instead greeted by a sweet elderly lady with bright eyes surprised by the sudden intrusion of some random excited Asian dude. "Oh sorry, I'm not really open yet. I hope you don't mind the mess." "ME DON'T CARE." Sasquatch-wannabe-tourist gleefully responds. I came to find out shortly that it was Loren's mom, Grace, and she was definitely a delightful way to end my trip this year. You see, I came to really like this shop last year when I got to extensively talk to both Loren and Shawn during several visits to the shop because they were so fun to banter with. Not only did I receive local tips to the area, I came to really appreciate what they have done here over time through their little business. Their gift bags are printed with Loren's photography and Shawn's paintings! Truly beautiful and different from the other stores in the area. Definitely my favorite gift shop that I've visited so far and will continue to stop by and say hi whenever I'm in the area. Absolutely recommend!

There was a huge variety of items, from local food, soaps, candles, hats, shirts, toys, housewares, and other wonderful things to remind you of your time in beautiful Bar Harbor. I also found the prices to be pretty on par with the rest of the area. I am enjoying my treasures now that I have returned home. I also appreciate the reusable bags they gave out. I've added those to my stash to grab instead of plastic. Thank you, Acadia Country Store, for a wonderful experience!

The Acadia Corporation owns and runs eight different individual stores in the Bar Harbor area that collectively are referred to as "Acadia Shops." This specific review is for the quaint Acadia Country Store. Because the Acadia Corporation is running many stores in Bar Harbor stuff really starts to look the same from store to store but the Acadia Country Store seemed to have a bigger focus on consumables like Stonewall Kitchen jellies and syrups and homemade fudge. Drats, I should have gotten a photo of the fudge display. Anyway, I enjoyed looking at kitchen stuff like cookie cutters and Swedish dish clothes while the hardwood floors quaintly creaked underfoot. I skipped the souvenirs since I'd already perused the same items at many other stores in downtown Bar Harbor.

The store owner/salesperson was very sweet and patient with the several people who wandered in after having dinner nearby on a spring evening. From nautical clothing to nice affordable beach themed jewelry, and picture frames to souvenir glasses with lighthouses and anchors on them, they really had a lot to offer the average tourist. I don't know the next time I'll be in this area but if I find myself here I will make the effort to get to this wonderful shop by the water!

This shop is a bit smaller than some of the other "tourist trap" shops along the strip, but they have a decent selection of high quality items at competitive prices. 2. This shop is dog friendly and also has the cutest dog who is the shops unofficial mascot. He I older and blind but still incredibly adorable. 3. The staff here is exceptional. They are incredibly receptive to customers but not overbearing and intrusive. The staff here was actually the nicest staff we interacted with while in Bar Harbor. 4. They not only have your generic run of the mill tourist attire, but have a huge selection of hand crafted items from local vendors. The jewelry here was gorgeous and I almost died laughing at a lobster calendar which was made by a local lobster fisherman. Overall, this store deserves the five stars because they treat their customers right and have a great selection of items. A few smiles, small talk and a welcoming vibe goes a long way for me!

Well - this store sets itself apart in two ways. First - the items you find here - they are unique. Like a cribbage board that keeps track of wins/losses AND highest scoring hands! Or beer cozies made of wood with carved silhouettes of familiar Maine scenes! Or a piece of driftwood that has been altered to be an iPhone charging stand! The second way - and this is the part I kind of want to keep secret - but here I go - sharing!! There is a tiny 8 seat bar in the back corner of this store!! And - ALL of the spirits (wine, beer and liquor) are all Maine made!! There's even a menu section focusing on just cocktails with Allen's Coffee Brandy! Top that off with the fact the store/bar are owned by a wife/husband team! And that the bartender (husband) is verified engaging and if you have enough customers at the bar - he'll play the funnest musical guessing game!!

My husband and I actually delayed our departure from Bar Harbor a bit so I could pop in The Maine Store when they opened at 10am. The store smells super good like fresh pine and it has a wide variety of gifts, trinkets, ornaments, jewelry and such. I wish I could have wandered longer but I found a nice ornament and regrettably had to be on my way.

What you'll find are gifts with a purpose, many with a twist and a message from local artists. Victoria and I caught up via email and phone to solidify my appointment. She was super accommodating to our schedules and opened her shop earlier than expected. Thank you so very much! Her shop has a little of everything including casual and funky clothes and other well-priced pieces that I snapped up for myself! She was beyond friendly and we practically talked for almost an hour. But I contacted Victoria to buy a replacement, and she took the time to send me individual pictures of every pair of blueberry leaf earrings she had in the shop (because they're all unique!) so I could choose. And then she mailed them to me in Virginia. Now my beautiful blueberry leaf earrings are a sweet reminder of our family vacation in Maine AND of the power kindness can have over loss. Thank you, Victoria!!!
