This shop is HUGE. It's two stories and loaded with tons of things. There are all sorts of trinkets, kitchen and food items, clothing, keychains, magnets, art, etc. It took me a good 45 minutes to roam around and look at everything and I probably still didn't see it all. I found a few items for myself, my mom, and my daughter inside and the staff were very friendly. We stopped in here a few times and I saw a few different people working behind the counter and all greeted us immediately and were friendly. Bottom Line: One of the better shops in downtown Bar Harbor featuring better souvenirs, some local products and LL Bean clothing. The Acadia Corporation owns and runs eight different individual stores in the Bar Harbor area that collectively are referred to as "Acadia Shops." This specific review is for the two story "Acadia Shop" located at 85 Main Street. Because the Acadia Corporation is running many stores in Bar Harbor stuff really starts to look the same from store to store but the Acadia Shop stood out to me because upstairs they had some local art and quality LL Bean gear. I enjoyed looking at the prints and notecards from local artists. Also, on a cold and rainy day it was nice to peruse lots of warm and cozy jackets and zip-ups from LL Bean. For the REI/LL Bean crowd out there. This locally owned active wear and adventure store is filled to the brim with great clothing, sunglasses, hiking gear, and everything else you would need to spend time in the great outdoors. It's a great stop for essentials during your visit to the area or souvenirs to take back home. We popped in and enjoyed their vast array of shoe selections and ended up purchasing some nice sunglasses for the road. they appear to have two different shops in the downtown area. Definitely worth a quick pitstop if you find yourself in the area. read more

There's really nothing too special about this shop, but every time I visit I find myself here at least a few times. It's definitely nostalgia-fueled. I can remember coming to this shop ever since I was little. The smell of pine, the touristy yet awesome items. Sure, they've got the same stuff that 90% of the other shops have, but something about this store for me is different. They've got every blueberry, Maine, Acadia, and Bar Harbor item you could need - clothes, books, souvenirs, home decor, and more spread out over two floors. I think this store probably has the most stuff out of any store in the downtown Bar Harbor area, but because of the size of the space it's not packed in like at some other shops. Prices are high, the items are touristy, but what do you expect? It's all about the nostalgia for me. read more

This shop is so much fun! It has two floors so on the first floor you can shop for local food items and crafts. The second floor has some gorgeous local art work! I picked up a giant stuffed lobster, popover mix with the pan and a few T-Shirts to take home for gifts. There is so much great merchandise so you really need to take your time to see it all. Will be sure to come here again when I am back in Bar Harbor. read more

I decided to get a sweatshirt for this camping trip as a memento and let's face it, it can get a bit chilli in Maine during those August nights. I knew The Acadia Shops had quality sweatshirts because I had been there before so I decided to stop in again. I found the store were well organized and the shirts and sweatshirts were very neatly displayed. The employees were awesome and helpful, even willing to go out back to look for different sizes of items that was on display. They had, on display lots of smalls, mediums, large and even extra large, however were limited beyond that, so if you are of the bigger size otmr like your cloths to hang off you, you might want to save a bit of time and skip this place. read more

This place is defintely one of my favorite to wander around whenever I hit the Bar Harbor area. My favorite part is wandering the kitchen section (first floor on the left) that has goodies for cooking or baking or fun items to use for serving guests. Everything has a very nautical feel to it (read: lobsters, seashells, sailboats, etc) and of course your staple Maine Blueberries are found everywhere. They have classy clothing items from vests and pullovers to tshirts and long sleeves shirts. This isn't your kitschy gift shop. Upstairs they have beautiful artwork, ornaments and table displays (for purchase) from Jordan Pond House (you can also buy their popover mix for way cheaper than at Jordan Pond itself). Definitely worth a stroll around the store, I guarantee you'll find something you can't live without. read more

It's a great store but I'm giving it three stars due to the fact that the bathroom upstairs is now for employees only. I used to always go into this store whenever I needed to use the restroom but now I don't have a reason to go inside. Overall great souvenir shop though. read more

I had a bad experience at the Acadia Shop on Main Street in Bar Harbor. I purchased 2 pieces of art and asked that they be wrapped up so they wouldn't get damaged during my travels walking around town and on the airplane home. The clerk literally used one small, thin sheet of tissue paper sort of wrapped around one of the pictures. When I asked for another she seemed put out. She then left the artwork on the counter, expecting me to bag it myself. She was more interested in folding t-shirts than helping me. I would expect a shop selling artwork to have some supplies for packing the products to avoid damage for the customer. And while I was at the counter, a man came up who had cut his hand on something in the store. He asked to use the bathroom to clean up his would, which was literally dripped blood. They told him they didn't have a bathroom. Really? Nice merchandise, but their customer service is terrible. read more

The Acadia Shops within the Park Loop, including the Jordan Pond Gift Shop are now under new management separate from the original. Prices in these shops are significantly higher than the shop in Bar Harbor!! Example: I purchased, and later returned, three items at Jordan Pond House Gift Shop: A container of the Jordan House Blend Tea $12.99 + tax!!! A Commemorative calendar for the 2016, 100 year anniversary of the park $39.99 A bag of balsam fir $11.99 Much to my dismay, I visited THE Original Acadia Shop later that same day in the evening and discovered the prices were much lower on the identical things I had purchased! House Blend Tea $9.00 with no tax! Calendar $32.00 Balsam fir $9.00 I have read that the new management company has raised prices at the Jordan Pond Tea House and Restaurant and now I see that they are gouging visitors at the gift shop! This is highway robbery! I returned my items the following day to a disinterested employee and manager. Promptly re-purchased everything downtown at Acadia Shops. They are friendlier downtown and the shop is nicely stocked and well-run. If you order from them on-line, deliveries come promptly. I order the tea year-round as it is my favorite. There has been controversy over the new management contract and I can see why. Shame on the Park for making this change for the worse! Spend your money downtown on food and gifts! Donate to the Park directly through the purchase of a pass or become a member of the Friends of Acadia - don't let this corporation rip you off!!!!! read more

This is my mom's favorite place to shop on the island. They are so much more than a tourist gift store - they have so many fantastic gifts, clothes, snacks, books, and trinkets there. You can find something for everyone there. Absolutely worth stopping by when you're walking down Main Street. read more
