Cool stuff in this gift shop in the main tourist shopping area. Staff was very helpful and spent extra effort wrapping the purchased gifts. We picked up some small cute Christmas decorations and almost grabbed a tshirt.

The candy and ice store, next door!

Lots of souvenir or "gift shops" around this part of town? What made this place stick out? -The words "free gift". They had a free gift for all cruise ship passengers. Passengers just show their Sea Pass card and get a free gift. Gift varies daily. When one member of our group found out about the free gift, she immediatly called members of her family on her cell to come on back. The gfit that day was a 6" spring-jointed lobster. Pretty cute, kids loved them -Candy and ice cream store, next door. This is also owned by Debbahs. Huge selection of ice cream, fudge, and other candies. Discount for cruise ship passengers. Family owned, very nice couple running the store.

Nice souvenir shop in Maine, and they were having an End of Season sale when we arrived. Debbah Gifts is Bar Harbor's One-Stop gift shop. They have a wide selection of clothing and other souvenirs. They are owned and operated since 1953. If you cannot find the souvenir you want here, then you probably will not find it anywhere else. It was great going there at the end of October. Everything was on sale!!! Fantastic bargains! Would definitely return here in the future.

Since the first twenty souvenir shops we entered didn't full our shopping needs, we decided to stop in at this location to wander their selection of goods. When we walked in this store seemed like the others on the strip, but they had a more thorough selection of Black Moose merchandise. This company reminded me of the Black Dog from Martha's Vineyard and shared a similar style. In the end, we thought that this shop was well stocked with decent items, it was clean and the service was great.

Amusing, overpriced, tourist-trap nonsense. But they do inexplicably sell throwing stars, so that's nice.

However, I decided to drive by one last time at noon today on my way back to Boston and THERE WAS A HINT OF LIGHT. I parked, I ran-walked-skipped, and I barged right through those doors thinking to run into either Loren or Shawn. But nay, I was instead greeted by a sweet elderly lady with bright eyes surprised by the sudden intrusion of some random excited Asian dude. "Oh sorry, I'm not really open yet. I hope you don't mind the mess." "ME DON'T CARE." Sasquatch-wannabe-tourist gleefully responds. I came to find out shortly that it was Loren's mom, Grace, and she was definitely a delightful way to end my trip this year. You see, I came to really like this shop last year when I got to extensively talk to both Loren and Shawn during several visits to the shop because they were so fun to banter with. Not only did I receive local tips to the area, I came to really appreciate what they have done here over time through their little business. Their gift bags are printed with Loren's photography and Shawn's paintings! Truly beautiful and different from the other stores in the area. Definitely my favorite gift shop that I've visited so far and will continue to stop by and say hi whenever I'm in the area. Absolutely recommend!

I can remember coming to this shop ever since I was little. The smell of pine, the touristy yet awesome items. Sure, they've got the same stuff that 90% of the other shops have, but something about this store for me is different. They've got every blueberry, Maine, Acadia, and Bar Harbor item you could need - clothes, books, souvenirs, home decor, and more spread out over two floors. I think this store probably has the most stuff out of any store in the downtown Bar Harbor area, but because of the size of the space it's not packed in like at some other shops. Prices are high, the items are touristy, but what do you expect? It's all about the nostalgia for me.

The Acadia Corporation owns and runs eight different individual stores in the Bar Harbor area that collectively are referred to as "Acadia Shops." This specific review is for the quaint Acadia Country Store. Because the Acadia Corporation is running many stores in Bar Harbor stuff really starts to look the same from store to store but the Acadia Country Store seemed to have a bigger focus on consumables like Stonewall Kitchen jellies and syrups and homemade fudge. Drats, I should have gotten a photo of the fudge display. Anyway, I enjoyed looking at kitchen stuff like cookie cutters and Swedish dish clothes while the hardwood floors quaintly creaked underfoot. I skipped the souvenirs since I'd already perused the same items at many other stores in downtown Bar Harbor.

Every time I'm vacationing, I'm always on the look-out for interesting shops that sell items worth my money to give away. What you'll find are gifts with a purpose, many with a twist and a message from local artists. Victoria and I caught up via email and phone to solidify my appointment. She was super accommodating to our schedules and opened her shop earlier than expected. Thank you so very much! Her shop has a little of everything including casual and funky clothes and other well-priced pieces that I snapped up for myself! She was beyond friendly and we practically talked for almost an hour. I searched through dozens of Bar Harbor shops looking for a pair of touchstone earrings to remind me of the peace and joy I felt in Acadia this summer. Finally, I found delicate, handmade silver earrings shaped like blueberry leaves in My Darling Maine. Perfect! I wore them to work my first day back - and lost one. I was heartbroken. But I contacted Victoria to buy a replacement, and she took the time to send me individual pictures of every pair of blueberry leaf earrings she had in the shop (because they're all unique!) so I could choose. And then she mailed them to me in Virginia. Now my beautiful blueberry leaf earrings are a sweet reminder of our family vacation in Maine AND of the power kindness can have over loss. Thank you, Victoria!!!

While searching for a last-minute 4-day weekend birthday trip - the timing seemed to work out to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia. I was here from 30 April - 03 May and loved it. Not everything was open, but enough was open that I was able to explore and see most of what I wanted in Acadia (Cadillac mountain opened ON 30 April so, we were able to drive to the top, park and walk around without a permit/pass before season starts in a few weeks. We hiked Beehive, Jordan Pond, Ocean Path, Homan's Trail and a few other short park and walk items. By far, my favorite was Beehive as it's just scary/steep enough to give you a thrill, gorgeous views. I also loved Homan's trail - easy and short, but beautiful rock work. The ranger also told me that one of the women who originally donated a ton of the land for Acadia and wanted to do so anonymously was last name Homan, so this is honor of her. And what a beautiful trail it is! The visitor's center is small but as always, friendly and helpful rangers who helped me prioritize my must-sees and map out the best use of time/driving to get to everything I wanted to do in two short days. Schooner Point lookout is also an easy/quick stop off before entering one of the park entrances - and a beautiful view of the ocean. While I was there, the sun was rising at 4 AM and for some reason I was wide awake with a piano panoramic view from hotel high up in Bar Harbor.
