I particularly like the usher checking you are in front of the correct screen before the film begins, it's a nice personal touch. Easy to book online or when you get there. Easy to get to as well. Why not 5 stars you may ask? Only one reason: it's rather pricey

Luxury is the name of their game, however I think they have missed the mark, a little bit. Upon entry it has a very polished retro feel, plus furniture in the lobby area, multiple seating areas, the bar is well proportioned in relation to the space. I'm sure some people may actually go there just to sit have a drink and catch up!! I think there are 4 screens and the film I went to see was in screen 4, which is upstairs. Ordering the food and drink was nice and simple, apart from no sweet popcorn at the upstairs bar!! So had to go back downstairs to get popcorn but they did bring it up form me. Staff were helpful and professional, the seats in the actual cinema were comfortable, I'm sure they will feel less stiff as they get more bums on seats!! Now at the beginning of this I said they have missed the mark 'a little bit'. I say this as with all Everyman cinemas they bring food and drink to you, if that's what you request, this is where they missed the mark. They, in my opinion, didn't leave enough walkway space between the seats so when people are walking past to get to their seats it's very 'snug'. So when staff bring food and drinks it's a bit of a trial. Hence only 4 stars from me. That aside if you've never been to an Everyman. It is an experience but remember this isn't Vue or Oden and that is reflected in the price of tickets food etc etc. Worthwhile going as a treat to yourself or someone special in your life.

I keep forgetting how truly terrible this cinema is! Just went to see a film and decided to…read more'upgrade' to the premium seats. They make you wait in the foyer until the film start time - which this evening coincided with the start time of about four other films, so it was a huge crowd and a complete mess of people trying to push in and get to their (allocated) seats. The delay was supposed to be due to cleaning, but when we got to our 12 quid seats, there was ice cream spilt all over the side of one, rubbish still in the cup holder and popcorn on both seats. I complained and was told that I could have a refund or a different seat if I went back to the front desk (about 3 miles back). However, all seats were sold and we wanted to see the film - so I now have ice cream (I fervently hope that it was ice cream) on my dress. It's a listed building, so air conditioning is not possible, but perhaps a bit of heating would be? I was freezing throughout the film this evening. The sound quality is terrible, the room smelt of warm, nasty feet and my shoes stuck to the floor. I'm really not going back again.

It's the classic local cinema of your youth; the sort of cinema you'd go to nowadays if you lived in the immediate area, wanted to watch a movie on a Wednesday night and could not be bothered to go elsewhere. The screens are small, the sound isn't up to scratch, the seats are uncomfortable and there's no air conditioning, making it awful in the summer. However, if it were priced based on its shortcomings, this wouldn't be a problem but it isn't. It's priced as if it were a really great cinema, the likes of which you might find in Greenwich or Croydon or out at Bluewater. It isn't. As such, it's a miss for me. If I don't want to drive, I get on the tram and go to the Vue in Central Croydon. If I do want to drive, I'd rather go to Bluewater and make a real evening of it.

Now I would highly recommend this cinema if you want an intimate and very comfortable cinema…read moreexperience without the annoying people talking all the way through and even better... A very representable price tag. I think we even attended on a crazy Monday and got half price tickets. They have a bar in the waiting area where you can buy drinks of all sorts and sweets or ice cream (no popcorn if I remember rightly) which is prob a good and less busy place to pop in for a cuppa anytime anyway. The cinema itself usually has most higher rated films showing on release and extremely generous seating throughout. Screen are on the smaller side but overall that doesn't detract from the experience unless you want an IMAX experience or something totally in your face. Barbican is definitely worth a trip for those wanting to avoid mainstream cinemas. Xyz

Oddly, when we bought our tickets, he showed us a tattered seating chart and asked us which seats we'd like, but had to look up our request in the computer to see if they're already taken, which led to the following conversation: "how about those?" "sorry I'm afraid those are taken. "how about those?" "sorry I'm afraid..." etc. The one twist was the classy food - scones, quiche, and an extensive wine list - which we weren't expecting. While I'm a fan beer / wine in movies, we actually just wanted some popcorn and sweets...

The seats were soaked in God-knows…read morewhat, the screens were covered in mess, there was popcorn everywhere, the projector was projecting wrong, there were balloons randomly in the theatre blocking the top corner of the screen. Their response was at least honest; "Unfortunately, due to the clientele in Romford it is difficult for us to maintain a consistently high quality" - and I believe them. The Vue in Romford is decent as Multiplexes go; but the problem comes when you find lots of kids who'd rather text each other across the room and make random turrets type noises than watch a movie. We used to avoid this by going to screenings at 11pm. But we found that although the kids were gone, their mess wasn't. I complained a much of times and to be fair to them, I got a few free tickets-- but it got to the point where I'd rather pay to go somewhere else and not have to sit on someones unwanted popcorn. Cinematically; the films are presented well; good sound and good size screens; but often you'll find coke splashed on screens or my biggest problem; holes in the screen (meaning shiny bright sparkling areas). A cinema that tries to be good but doesn't quite pull it off. Go elsewhere.

In the main lobby, you have a Ben & Jerry's stand from where you can get some yummy ice cream, next to the stand they have a selection of pick and mix. The lobby looks nice, but is always pretty busy during the evenings so I suggest getting there early. As Paul mentioned there is a lack of food, but to be honest there aren't many cinemas that do a huge range. As this is near a shopping complex there are a few places you can go to eat. I am a huge popcorn fan, and Vue does do tasty popcorn. The screens are good and the seats are comfortable, this Vue is great to watch any film =)
