Our guide Seth showcased Ithaca's diverse food scene (a lot of which was locally sourced fare, which was super impressive) while tying in interesting historical facts about the city of Ithaca--which was totally unexpected but definitely well received among the group as well as very much appreciated. A decent bit of walking, which was fine, but it's good to point out for our less mobile friends looking to partake. At every stop we had small drink and food portions, which after the 2-3 hours I was relatively full, which is always nice after completing a food tour. We started off at Moosewood Restaurant and worked our way through the Ithaca Commons to 6 total different spots, stopping along the way to point out fun facts about certain areas, murals, general historical tidbits as well as highlighting local business practices that may not be commonplace elsewhere (did you know that Ithaca commonly uses a "Collective" business model versus the generally practiced "Cooperative" business model, where individuals in charge share equal responsibilities/shares and others are welcome to work their way up through work efforts and such). I'm sure the general order/selection of restaurants rotates given time of year and availability so I won't go into much detail about where we went here, but all of the choices were awesome and accompanied by narration from either Seth or the owner of the restaurant about the food we were enjoying as well as a small history of the establishment. Overall a wonderfully thorough tour that left me wanting to know more about the city of Ithaca and it's quite interesting history. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Finger Lakes Region!

The Good: The history of the John Alden designed schooner is worth reading before you go. We had some more "salty" members of our group that recognized the name of the schooner from the 1956 movie "High Society" starring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and after that we were on board for a wonderful time. We even were seated in the seats once occupied by Gene and Bing. We purchased our tickets after being approached by Terry who negotiated a decent price with us because he wanted a full boat for the next trip. Captain Bill was an experienced Captain and is well known in the area. He got us underway and was a delightful host regaling us with stories about the "True Love", Seneca Lake and surroundings, as well as, some stories about racing the "True Love" and his crew, Spencer and Marena. Captain Bill even assisted another sailing boat that was in distress and precariously close to the lake edge. The trip was two hours long and on time. The crew served non-alcoholic and adult beverages (some free, some for a price) while underway and also sold some souvenirs (Whisky and glasses). The Bad: There was nothing bad, from start to finish, this was a very enjoyable trip and the crew definitely enjoyed sharing their love of the "Trie Love" with the joyful passengers. The Ugly: Absolutely nothing other than we could not be out for longer. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen, this is definitely an enjoyable to kick back, relax, and let the wind fill your sails. The basket was comfortable, very well maintained, clearly cared for and in top shape. The team drove us back from our landing location to our cars in a new and comfortable van. Overall a wholly pleasant experience and a great way to spend a few hours in the morning or afternoon, best planned a couple days before.

Have you ever seen a picture of something (an activity, maybe) and thought, "I seriously wish we…read morehad that here?" It turns out, if you know where to look, you might be able to turn that picture into a reality. Finger Lakes Cycle Boats was that image for me. Upon learning that yes, we did have a cycle boat option in the region, I made plans to check it out, turning images into motion (literally, in the case of those pedals!) Something to take into consideration is that given the season that the boats are in operation, you may be dealing with speedway traffic. If you go to Watkins Glen in the summertime, you need to take into account that there might be a race that day and in that case, trust your GPS. We made it to the dock with seconds to spare and while it worked out okay, it might be a problem on busier days. If you're worried about not being able to pedal, don't be - the boat is motorized. Think of the seats like a spin class, you'll need to adjust to find your correct height. I ended up adjusting the seat a few times and ultimately didn't pedal as much as I thought I would. But if you have a big group and everyone pedals, you won't even need the motor. We went up the lake on a breezy night, going just under halfway through the lake and then back again. Our tour was about an hour and a half ish long, but I bet a longer tour would be seriously fun if it worked out. You can bring your own drinks and snacks and there are options for add ons for parties if you so choose. Chris and Sam, the owners, have a nice setup going and are full of fun facts about the area. FLX is full of history and it's such a nice perspective to see it from within the water. I can't wait to go on another tour when the season permits. Held on the second weekend in July (confirm dates on the website), The Finger Lakes Wine Festival…read moreis a great day out. I went in July 2017 and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. There were four long tents set up with different wineries on each side; over 90 wineries were represented. Included in the $50 one-day ticket (cheaper when purchased before June) was a winery guide book, a tasting glass, and a little tote bag. Each winery table had multiple varietals to sample, usually about 4-6 each table usually with dry, semi dry, and sweet options. Now I am a wine drinking pro in real life, but I am an amateur at The Finger Lakes Wine Festival because I was tipsy after being there for about 30 minutes and I had to call it a day after only visiting two of the four tents. The good news is a two day pass is only $55, so I recommend that option and seriously pacing yourself. I would also recommend camping onsite as that would be the most convenient and safest way to enjoy the festival. There are food vendors and other activities in the festival, literally something for everyone.

When I tried to tell her that wasn't right she insisted that was it I even tried when a different girl was there but I wasn't going to stand there and argue and make a fool of myself over a diet soda but what gets me is I paid $25.00 for NOTHING just to walk around they didn't even give me a wine glass! I called the Glen this morning and told the person how unhappy I was and it was pretty expensive and get nothing in return not even a diet soda and she said she was sorry and would talk to them!! This doesn't do me any good now so anyone who encountered this problem let them know this is not right I can't believe I was the only designated driver who was refused a soda.

Pros: The owner is super cool. When we arrived, he was mowing the lawn. He hopped off and showed us to our room. Check in wasn't till 3pm but he allowed us to go up early. The rooms were huge. Very intimate since we could leave our doors opened and unlocked the entire stay. Only the bridal party stayed at the inn so it was nice. The owner and staff were all super helpful, polite, and nice. McKenzie, one of the staff, especially sweet and didn't complain about anything even though she was there all day and night (give this girl a raise). They did skimp out on liquor, not watered down at all. Food was amazing . I believe the owner cooked everything. The venue was very beautiful. The view was perfect. We got very lucky since it literally rained all day. The rain stopped and the sunset was amazing. Cons: I stayed here mid October and the weather here is still very hot and cold, literally. Mostly cold. The ac/heater unit didn't work very well and it either got way too hot or way too cold. Couldn't find a middle ground. Also, it took a while for it to get to warm up. Our fireplace was not functional and all. The owner made a few attempts to fix that problem but never got fixed. There's a hot tub here. We didn't use it. There were dead flies all over the place. On the rug, in the tub, and on the sheets. The rooms didn't seem to be clean. There was hair in the sink, gunk in the shower, hair on the walls on the shower, and dust all over the place. My boyfriend walk around the room barefoot and tracked dirt into the bed. Could def use a nice vacuum and dusting. Happy to say the bed at least had a mattress cover. The rooms were ridiculously expensive given the cleanliness.

We stayed in the Key Cottage, which is a stand alone cottage that isn't connected to any other buildings, which we preferred. Pros: even though there was a wedding the same time that we were there, we literally heard none of it! It was so quiet and besides seeing physical people, it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves! The grounds were so beautiful and well kept, perfect to explore. The wish room was a nice touch, even though we didn't get to enjoy it due to being too busy visiting Ithaca. The heated tiles in the bathroom were a very nice touch. The white noise machine put me to sleep SO fast! Bedsheets were very clean and smelled it too! Cons: please note, this is for the Key Cottage only. The water literally took over 4 minutes to get warm in the shower. The cleanliness I would rate a 3: dust, cobwebs, small ants were on the floors. Fridge had a water/ice feature but both tasted awful and the "change filter" light was on. I would recommend bringing your own water.

Nice battery operated lanterns for romantic feel but batteries were old and didn't lit any of them.
