Plato Dale Farm is a small family farm that specializes in grassfed beef, pasture raised chickens…read moreand also sells high quality vegetables and fruits. You can often find them at various farmer's markets. During the wintertime, you can find them at Horsefeathers Winter Market, North Tonawanda and a few other locations (listed on their web site). They also offer a variety of CSA's and if you're looking to buy 200lb worth of cow to last you the whole winter, summer, year or whatever; they would be some of the best local purveyors to get it from. Prices are higher than your typical supermarket ground beef, but you get what you pay for with very succulent ground beef. I find grassfed beef has a bit of a different taste and prefer it, so whenever convenient I buy my burgers from these guys. The farm also supplies a good amount of beef for Lloyd Taco Trucks as well as tomatillos, cilantro and other veggies. The people who run the farm and their staff are superbly friendly. Next time you see these guys at a farmers market, I highly recommend trying some of their products! I'd love to read some more reviews from people who have tried their CSAs as well.

Kent Miller is what every farmer should be: passionate about his craft, passionate about his food,…read moreand passionate about helping his "customers" - i.e. his neighbors, friends, and fellow WNYers, find healthy, delicious, sustainable food. Kent and the gang, aka Plato Dale and the Sunshine Kids, can be seen regularly at Horsefeathers and Farmers and Artisans in the winter, and all over town during the growing season. The farm offers shares of vegetables and meat (including grass fed jersey cows and other breeds on occasion) and pick up points from North Tonawanda to West Seneca and downtown Buffalo to Arcade. We've purchased a half cow from the farm, as well as loads of produce. They even have farm friends in Florida and supply organic citrus around the holidays (Hint: your oranges should not be perfectly orange and round. They should be a little uglier.) If you aren't convinced by my own enthusiasm, you might be convinced by the fact that several great Buffalo restaurateurs including Peter & Chris of Lloyd's and Steve Gedra of Black Sheep (and formerly of Bistro Europa) regularly supply from Plato Dale. These are heavy hitters and a great testament to the quality and deliciousness of Kent's food. My one complaint, to be fair and unbiased in my review, is the pricey eggs the farm produces. But they're offset by the price-to-quality ratio of everything else they grow and sell, so, water under the bridge!! If you're looking for a local supplier of farm fresh food, Plato Dale should be your first stop.

If you find yourself looking for something to do, its a nice easy drive to get there, in Angola, I believe there open year round, have a little store, food on the weekends, Staff were very nice and welcoming.

Their homegrown garlic has been in for a few weeks now and I stocked up today! I am a garlic…read morefanatic. I basically consume garlic with every meal. All garlic needs to be "cured" after picking. These cloves were cured to just the right amount of tenderness. I roasted three for lunch and "Oh My!". There is just enough moisture within the clove to make the buttery garlic roastings palatable without the objectionable burn often associated with "older" cloves. Pure heaven!! I did also purchase probably the last of the sweet corn for this year, also included in my garlic lunch. Homegrown cauliflower and little grape tomatoes made for a lovely, almost autumn outing. Homegrown at it's finest!!!

This is more like a food truck/ bookmobile than a farmer's market, except that the food is fresh,…read morein season, and mostly locally grown. The hours are Fridays only, 11:30 - 12:30. I've found amazing berries, beautiful cauliflower and broccoli, and squashes. Everything is excellent quality, and attractively presented. It's staffed by the same two people every week, so it quickly feels like a "local" business. All the fruits and vegetables qualify for SNAP/EBT benefits; they're up to 50% off if paying this way. Pro tip: The Catholic Charities food bank across the street on Park Square is open Fridays at roughly the same time, to maximize travel efforts. This store-on-wheels is open rain or shine, so bring an umbrella and a reusable bag if weather looks bad.
