Which is too bad because they've recently made improvements to it. The playground is new, less than 4 years old I'm guessing. It's not the best design for little kids under 2. It's got a lot of climbing involved. In order to reach the slide you've got to climb around in this spider web of ropes. It's very neat, but hard for little kids to navigate and reach the slide. They do have swings and a merry-go-round available as well. There is a huge shelter available with picnic tables under it. They also have a water fountain with dog dish attachment and a bike repair station. They do not have bathrooms available at this time. Hope they add some soon!

I took my to go package and googled to find a nearby park with a picnic table and 20 blocks west was Pierson Park. I had never been in this park, although had driven past a few times over the years. It is fairly large park - 125 acres, and it's main feature seems to be a 10 acre stocked fishing lake. I enjoyed my tacos at a well maintained shelter house lakeside with functioning restrooms and running water. Plenty of geese and other nesting birds to watch. Modern children's playground equipment and woods for exploring. Unfortunately the tower at the 55th St. entrance has had the entrance welded shut and you can no longer climb to the top of the 60' tower. A nice urban park.

Bennett Park offers a quaint spot to hang out with the kids or get away for some much needed…read moreprivacy. Basically, Bennett is a square, its boundaries formed by trees on all four sides. It creates this little tucked away spot that feels rather intimate and protective. BP is using the coolest thing for landscaping ever-recycled rubber tread from tries. Colored in a rusty brown, I almost thought they were some type of wood chips until they gave way as I stepped on creating a very spongy walking experience. Do try. It's a great use of recycling-replacing the chance of splinters from wood and the reuse of materials. BP is a small park but has a pretty rockin' jungle gym along with a merry-go-round, basketball goal and miniature baseball/soccer field. I did get drunk though. No, alcohol isn't allowed in these places but it might as well have been after my stint on this other weird piece of equipment I can only describe as a one-man merry-go-round. I stood up straight while being spun around and completely lost all sense of direction and clear vision. BP should be on your list for a small getaway simply because of its quaint appeal and private ambiance.

There is also 1 port-o-potty. A plastic bag dispenser for pup poop bags. I know we will be attending again the next time I visit, however I don't know when that is, since I don't live here. Unfortunately the city of Prairie Village decided to do improvements and the new playground equipment isn't friendly to smaller children. The toddler playground you see in the pictures is no longer there and other than the sandbox or climbing on the nature area with logs, there really isn't a lot for toddlers to do. It's a great park for older kids, but it's unfortunate that the only park within walking distance for us is no longer friendly to small children.
