This place is a GEM! Tiny hole in the wall bar that is family run and operated. Walk in and you're immediately greeted and treated like family. The food is simple but always tasty. The tacos are best in town. Prices are great too! Be warned, on Tomahawks home game hockey nights this place gets packed QUICKLY. There's only 6-7 tables that seat 5 people max. When you leave expect a hand shake and a sincere "thank you". Top notch business!

My son just googled a random place to eat and found Scott's. This place is great! The tacos were huge with hand made tortillas. The large taco was bigger than my son's head. It's a small place but soooo clean and nice. We found our new place.

I'm a bit behind on my reviews, but I am getting there with getting the ones out there that have been sitting here waiting to get written. Scott's by Dam is one such one that has just been sitting there and marinating. Scott's has been in my 'to try' section for some time. I honestly had no idea where this was in the Johnstown, but bookmarked it a long time ago. In the beginning of March I owed my baby sister a lunch for her birthday. We both finally had a day off to get together. I asked her where she wanted to go and she picked this place, much to my delight. Pulling up in front of this place, I tell ya, this does not look like an establishment that can stand on it own. It just doesn't look like a business that can survive, the building from the outside just looks like any other in the downtown Johnstown area, in need of some TLC. But, as they say, looks can be deceiving. Inside it is a warm atmosphere, albeit what you would expect for a neighborhood bar. This is close to the arena in town, so I expect later in the day or on any given game day this turns into a pretty happening sports bar. It is small, so don't expect to bring a large party here and all dine together. Most of the seating is at the bar. There are a few tables in here, but not many. I do like how they utilized the space. What I assume was old storefront windows has been converted into table space that uses the shape to its advantage. Once inside and sidled up to the bar ask for a menu. The menu isn't overwhelming, and I am sure you can find something on the menu to satisfy your appetite. It is your typical, heavy bar food. My sister and I decided to split an order of poutine. This plate comes out with fries covered in cheese that melts down and then it all swims in gravy. Seriously, you could just get this as a meal, it's that impressive and tasty. I overheard that this is one of their best sellers as well. For my main course I went with the Hot Turkey Platter where you get to choose between mashed potatoes or French fries. Of course, to stay the course, I went with fries. This plate was just as big as the poutine. I slowed up on the poutine so I could focus on the hot turkey sandwich. The turkey slices we nice and juicy, the bread was fresh, and the gravy had an amazing flavor. I took my time eating the sandwich part. Each bite I cut from the sandwich I dipped into the excess gravy, didn't want that to go to waste. I made myself finish that massive serving. And when I was done I turned my attention back to what was left of the poutine. That didn't fare too well, I was stuffed and some of that delicious poutine went to waste. Let me tell you about the staff in here as well. The bartender was amazing. She raved about the place and its food, not just because she works here, but because it really is that good. She chatted us up while we ate as well, checking on us often. When we had finished our meal and paid, the owner came out of the back (I assume he is the cook as well) and thanked us for stopping by. I will definitely be back here, that is when we get the chance to venture back out.

A fun, local pub, right by the ice rink and downtown Johnstown. The owner is joyful and sassy, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. It's a gem, gets packed around local hockey games, the crowd is priceless.

The bartender Trevor is wonderful and the food is hot and hits the spot! Johnstown hidden heel.

That can be attributed to when Thunder in the Valley is going on. If you were to speed by it on any given day, you wouldn't think twice about stopping here. It looks like a roadside bar that has been there for years. When you do happen to come by in the warmer months it is kind of like the perfect setting to go about a meal. Their dining area opens up to allow air to move freely within and there is table seating outside as well. The space is well used and has a wide variety of things to keep your attention while waiting for you food to be served. I showed up here with my sisters and nephew for a meal one day. We walk in and were able to seat ourselves wherever we liked. Once seated we were given menus and placed our drink orders. I did a through look through of the menu since I had never been here before before making a decision. A lot caught my eye, so that may be a factor for a revisit down the road. Ultimately I went with the Fried Bologna Pittsburgh Style. I had also ordered a side of fries, as an appetizer I went with Onion Rings. Once our order was placed our food kind of trickled out. What you need to realize is that the kitchen area is more in the bar portion of this place than the dining portion of this place. So food is prepared over there and then needs to make a trip to the dining area. This was by far the most frustrating aspect of our dining experience. None of our food came out in an appropriate time frame. One appetizer would show up and we would wait. By the time all the appetizers showed up our entrees were in front of us. Along with my onion rings I got to sample the Zucchini Fries and Breaded Cauliflower Bites. I'm not a huge zucchini fan, but I could get behind these. There were cut just like regular fries, battered and served piping hot. The cauliflower was pretty amazing as well. Dip those bad boys into ranch dressing and it's on. My onion rings came out and looked like picture perfect representation of what onions rings should look like. Not sure what type of batter they used, but it was light and crunchy. Onto the bad boy of the night. Fried Bologna Pittsburgh Style. As you can see from the picture it was pretty impressive. This things is not your sliced bologna that they fry up. Instead it is a thick piece cut from the bologna log, halved and then fried up. Some cheese is then stacked on top of that and a nice portion of Cole slaw. That Cole slaw had a tang to it. On the other portion of the bun you had some barbecue sauce. I was a bit hesitant with this. I did not thing that the Cole slaw and barbecue sauce would mesh well and throw me for a loop. However, when those two married it was a wild combination that kept me going with this sandwich. Add to that a nice portion of fresh cut fries and the sandwich is complete. It is not as big as a sandwich you would get in Pittsburgh, but it definitely hit all the Pittsburgh notes. Back to the service. Our server was amazing. It was a bit hectic in here but she kept going. She was patient with us, which we appreciated especially since my nephew was with us. However, some things were missed. I never received my side order of fries, dipping sauces were missing, and drinks were forgotten. A little brush up on those and this will make for a perfect experience.

Visited the Westmont Johnstown Burger King on September 17th, 2022. First visit to this location…read more My verdict: unlikely to return. This Burger King, unlike so many fast food restaurants in Johnstown, does not have a touch screen kiosk. My plan coming in was to test different menu items and see what the costs are, especially after getting burned by inaccurate menus at the Scalp Avenue Taco Bell in August, 2022. Without a kiosk, I was dependent on the over the counter menu which was hard to read and difficult to locate what I wanted to find. Ended up with a small whopper junior meal - of course they didn't list how much extra cost was to add cheese to it. Paid about 50% more than I wanted. The beverage selection is likewise unacceptable if you are on a sugar or carb restricted diet. Only one choice - coke zero - was available to me. That had caffeine in it too - something else I'm not supposed to consume for medical reasons. The restaurant and restrooms were clean though and the food itself of acceptable quality overall - but not as tasty as competitors. There were no salads, no carb-free healthy food options across the board. Checking the carb values before I left, not one item has less than 19 grams of carbohydrates. Most have at least double that, as well as very high salt amounts. Overall I find it okay to eat there, but not a good value. It is certainly not a place where anyone with dietary restrictions should go.

First off, this location is in the Westmont section of Johnstown. So don't go out of your way to come here. There is no need for that. The plaza that it sits in isn't a must to stop at so that makes this not a must to stop at either. Service inside and through the drive thru is pretty basic. Order, receive food. Inside they have a play area for kids, so if you have a little one and need a little downtime for yourself, let them play and have yourself a whopper. May need a bit of an update, but it's not necessary. Last visit here I used the drive thru and had a speedy experience. My order was prepared how I had asked and just so happened that I got lucky and received an extra free whopper because they mistakenly made two the way that I wanted it and instead of throwing it away, they threw it in my bag. I appreciate that and it was a great snack later.
