Have been coming here annually since moving to San Diego in 2016 with the exception of the shutdown during covid. Have only been to this location for the gem faire AKA rock show collection as munchkin would call it. Munchkin enjoys collecting various rocks and sifting through all the vendors that come to the gem show. I prefer this location over the Del Mar fair as they have several different venders and different rooms and sections and I feel like a lot more venders come to this location versus Del Mar fairgrounds. It's a great place to get a gift for yourself or others. Munchkin makes a necklace for me at 1 of the vendors And it's something cute and simple for any age. The prices vary depending on what you are looking for. They have a huge parking lot as well as parking on the street available although it does get pretty packed. Highly recommend signing up for the gem fair in advance in order to get discounted and free tickets to the event. To my knowledge kids have always been free 12 and under. Typically the gem fair runs Friday through Sunday. This time masks were mandatory regardless of vaccine status and had masks readily available for those without one. read more

I did not know what to think when I first pulled into the Scottish Rite Event Center. The architecture is very unique and it standouts out in contrast to the surrounding structures. I came here to support my friends whom were competing in a fitness competition. However, after getting out of my car and entering the building, I fell truly enjoyed the place. This place is maintained very well and the Scottish Rite Event Center staff was very friendly and professional. In addition to the various rooms in this facility, they have a large multipurpose room where vendors were set up for the day and a theater that can be used for theatrical productions (and fitness competitions in my case). The is also a hallway to the right of the entrance that has some cool Scottish Rite historical information and realia. The Scottish Rite Event Center is awesome. read more

This short review and the photos I uploaded are about how the Scottish Rite Event Center quickly dealt with a safety issue. To clarify, I haven't communicated directly with anyone at the Center and, fortunately, never had to. Their swift action is to be commended. I frequently use the sidewalk along Camino Del Rio South, where the Center is located. A significant part of the sidewalk in front of the Center is blocked by a pipe structure that looks similar to two connected gas meters. That structure is enclosed within four chained-off posts. On one side of the sidewalk is the road; on the other side, a chain-link fence. I'm always mindful while walking on this part of the sidewalk because there's less than about 16 inches of space on either side of the structure. Since traffic occasionally zooms by, I generally choose to walk between the chain-link fence and the structure. On the morning of November 5, 2018, while walking by, I cut my upper-right arm on a bent-up corner of a metal sign that was attached to the fence. It wasn't a huge cut, but it drew blood, and I was extremely concerned because it looked as if there was rust on the back of the metal corner. If you look at the accompanying photos, you can see that the metal sign is mounted to a piece of weather-worn wood that warped and split over time, which, consequently, caused the sign, with its bent corner, to protrude further out than it ordinarily would have. When I got home, I left a scathing message on the Center's voicemail, informing them of my cut and that I was concerned about tetanus and infection. (Note: the sign wouldn't necessarily have to be rusty to harbor C. tetani.) I threatened to sue them for any medical expenses associated with the cut if I had to go to the hospital and not-so-politely demanded that they fix or remove the sign immediately. When I walked by the Center the following morning (Nov. 6), the sign was gone. In fact, there had been two other signs attached to the fence right next to the damaged one, and they were gone, too! (See the accompanying photos.) I'm not sure if the Center took down the signs so fast because of my threat or because they were genuinely concerned about the safety of pedestrians. Either way, they did it, and I want to give them credit for that. As I write this review, it's Jan. 7, 2019, about two months after I cut my arm on the sign. The wound took a while to heal, but it's fine now. What made it worse is that the bandage I initially used to cover the cut caused an allergic reaction on the surrounding skin. I assume it was from the bandage's adhesive. That never happened to me before, and the result of the allergic reaction looked even worse, and took longer to heal, than the cut itself. In any event, all appears to be well now, and I just wanted other people to know how they handled the situation. read more

This company is very sexist when if comes to it's employees. They favor a few males who do not have any education over people with college degrees. I was told that I have only been there for 5 years, so I am not worthy to be treated the same as the males. One was given 5 or 6 months pay and overtime for being in jail in Mexico. Now Everyone is laid off, but the other male gets his health insurance paid for not only himself, but his wife. She is not working at all. He gets hired and paid to pick up junk with his truck-cash. They do not respect females at all and I would suggest that anyone with a wife not join or support this organization. read more

Been here a few times. Its large enough for a meeting space (which my work has rented out in the past). I've also been here for a gem show which housed a large amount of sellers and buyers. Plenty of parking. The downside to this place is its right in the middle of Mission Valley area and if it is already busy it can back up Camino Del Rio Road leading to the 8 freeway. read more

It's very easy to fine you can see right off the highway is right on but since I didn't say this place I went to the great big gym furiously today it was incredible very nice place if that great big huge clean bathroom have some of the cost of the servicing that it will be the vending machines in the areas of eating drinking want you but if you want to make it we have an event you have to call invest make a reservation already in having a event . BAD, They need security for the customers. The events here are put on haphazard the building needs security inside and out. I also need SECURITY from some of the wacky asian vendors that they bring into these events who are all about scamming and taking advantage of the American customers. There is so much fraud now with Asian businesses in America they'll do anything to take an American $$dollar$$ Once or twice a year they have the gem show at this facility... there's never enough parking, it's pretty chaotic, but most of all these are vendors who are trying to take advantage of the ladies that come in of all the customers and they jack the price up so high. Mostly the one-star is that the facility needs SECURITY for every event inside and out and they also need these vendors to know how to treat the public so the public wants to come back.... I will NEVER step foot back in this place... I don't recommend any ladies for their safety to go to this facility. Especially the gem show because it's so POORLY MANAGED. read more

I attended my first event at the Scottish Rite Event Center this past weekend. It's great attending an event and not have to pay for parking. Parking is ample there, too! While the carpet looks dated and the architectural design is too, everything was clean and bright. read more

It's very easy to find because you can see right off the highway. They have huge clean restrooms and multiple rooms for meetings and conventions. There are also a lot of parking spaces so parking shouldn't be a problem. The location is great too because it is close to malls, eateries and shopping. read more

Been here for various events like gem shows, paper shows, card shows, etc. Nice facility and plenty of parking. Security is pretty good and they have restrooms and food if you want sandwiches and things for any events that they hold here. read more

Every time I have called there for information someone is rude and abrupt. Every.single.time! As far as their venue for events, keep in mind they charge everyone differently. They have no set policy for prices, it's whatever they think they'll be able to get out of you. Example, if you tell them your budget is $5,000 for an event space they will charge that amount or more, even if someone else got the same space for $3,000. Their practices is questionable. Excellent food service. I was at an work staff event for breakfast and lunch and mindful of my diabetic diet. The manager readily provided me with a plate of low carb items for breakfast. The delicious lunch buffet was excellent ... food was served promptly at the right temperature and the entrees were of great quality. I would highly recommend the food service for big Corporate events read more

This is my second time here for a bead show. There's ample (free) parking and it's super easy to get in and out of. There are vendors tucked neatly in all the nooks and crannies which make it fun to explore. The place has religious character and despite it's old bones and interior, it's spotless inside. There's a large staff of friendly and attentive people and concessions are reasonably priced. The women's restroom is actually a great spot to relax. It has a large sitting room with several couches and chairs, a long makeup counter with a mirror and two walls of the CLEANEST bathroom stalls I've ever seen. read more
