PHOTO 1 OF 4: The cut on my arm caused by the damaged sign (please see review for details)
Ehrich W.

This short review and the photos I uploaded are about how the Scottish Rite Event Center quickly dealt with a safety issue. To clarify, I haven't communicated directly with anyone at the Center and, fortunately, never had to. Their swift action is to be commended. I frequently use the sidewalk along Camino Del Rio South, where the Center is located. A significant part of the sidewalk in front of the Center is blocked by a pipe structure that looks similar to two connected gas meters. That structure is enclosed within four chained-off posts. On one side of the sidewalk is the road; on the other side, a chain-link fence. I'm always mindful while walking on this part of the sidewalk because there's less than about 16 inches of space on either side of the structure. Since traffic occasionally zooms by, I generally choose to walk between the chain-link fence and the structure. On the morning of November 5, 2018, while walking by, I cut my upper-right arm on a bent-up corner of a metal sign that was attached to the fence. It wasn't a huge cut, but it drew blood, and I was extremely concerned because it looked as if there was rust on the back of the metal corner. If you look at the accompanying photos, you can see that the metal sign is mounted to a piece of weather-worn wood that warped and split over time, which, consequently, caused the sign, with its bent corner, to protrude further out than it ordinarily would have. When I got home, I left a scathing message on the Center's voicemail, informing them of my cut and that I was concerned about tetanus and infection. (Note: the sign wouldn't necessarily have to be rusty to harbor C. tetani.) I threatened to sue them for any medical expenses associated with the cut if I had to go to the hospital and not-so-politely demanded that they fix or remove the sign immediately. When I walked by the Center the following morning (Nov. 6), the sign was gone. In fact, there had been two other signs attached to the fence right next to the damaged one, and they were gone, too! (See the accompanying photos.) I'm not sure if the Center took down the signs so fast because of my threat or because they were genuinely concerned about the safety of pedestrians. Either way, they did it, and I want to give them credit for that. As I write this review, it's Jan. 7, 2019, about two months after I cut my arm on the sign. The wound took a while to heal, but it's fine now. What made it worse is that the bandage I initially used to cover the cut caused an allergic reaction on the surrounding skin. I assume it was from the bandage's adhesive. That never happened to me before, and the result of the allergic reaction looked even worse, and took longer to heal, than the cut itself. In any event, all appears to be well now, and I just wanted other people to know how they handled the situation.

It's very easy to fine you can see right off the highway is right on but since I didn't say this place I went to the great big gym furiously today it was incredible very nice place if that great big huge clean bathroom have some of the cost of the servicing that it will be the vending machines in the areas of eating drinking want you but if you want to make it we have an event you have to call invest make a reservation already in having a event . Photos I posted from today's gem fair It had everything I think partly want to use to make jewelry with rings bracelets earrings necklaces and more it also had a lot of them Crystal rock decorations with hundreds of vendors that was selling beads and crystals and everything

It's very easy to find because you can see right off the highway. They have huge clean restrooms and multiple rooms for meetings and conventions. There are also a lot of parking spaces so parking shouldn't be a problem. The location is great too because it is close to malls, eateries and shopping.

It's pretty spacious but depending on the type of event, it may fill up quickly. They also hold dance classes such as salsa, swing and country line dancing. Looks like a lot of fun and hope to check those out soon! Street parking available.

The fee for the lesson and party is $15, for party only - $10. The announcement (https://www.queenbeessd.com/swign-dance) places the lesson at 6:30-7:30PM, the dance with DJ music is supposed to start at 7:30PM. On the day of my visit, the times were shifted by half an hour, so if you want to just dance, 8PM is the good time. The dance lesson by Mercedes Moore (yes, the great San Diego singer!) is excellent, most of the 20+ dancers appeared to be regulars and thus had accumulated significant amount of skill, yet due to small size of group, a true beginner should feel OK. Unlike most places in San Diego, this one has noticeably more leads (traditionally men) than follows (women), so this venue might be great for a true beginner follower. During the social party few more dancers appeared, but the group remained pretty small, and by 9PM it became hard to find a dance partner (the music was still going on). Some logistics: the free (street) parking is very limited. The best paid parking is across the street in a well-lit parking lot ($5 for two hours). The wooden floor is of OK quality, the seating is adequate for the small crowd. As always for small gatherings, bringing one's own dance partner is recommended, although on the day I have visited, it was easy for follows to find a lead. Overall: a true beginner follow should definitely check out this venue. An intermediate lead that wants just to dance, should consider bringing his own follower.

She answered every single one of my million questions, allowed me to your the space beforehand, worked with me when I needed to extend the time, and was available for questions the day of as well. Every guest absolutely loved the space and inquired about rentals as well. I love that the space blended itself to be set up exactly as we needed it and then after we were done, went right back to its default state. I definitely don't want to plan any more events soon as I am beyond worn out BUT I would love to host an event here again soon. Not many options for street parking but there is a very cost-efficient lot less than a block away.

Kasia was super quick about answering my questions and writing up a contract for the desired time and date. Jaz who i met when i toured the place was SO nice and helpful in showing me what i would need to do to check in and check out (super easy as well, similar to checking in and out of an airbnb). It's a really nice venue specifically for themed parties (mine was steampunk) bc it really is a blank slate that you can decorate to your taste. My guests were very impressed with the decor and venue. It's nothing super fancy, but it suited my needs exactly and my event was a success! One note that i would do differently and advise others about is bringing additional signage since it is kinda tucked away and also seeing if there will be other events on your chosen date that would impact loading, etc.
