It's 1/3 the price of the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow, you say?
What's that - It only takes 1/2 hour longer?
Is that free wifi on board, I hear?
I'm in!
Except that, despite the prominent signage both in the ticket booth and on the side of the bus, there was no wifi, a fact which upset more than a few of the passengers. It was also an exceptionally hot day in Scotland, the heat on the bus only intensified by the close quarters and large windows. For the entire journey, the bus driver refused to turn on the air conditioning. Every few mintues, passengers were reaching up to their vents to see, if by some miracle, air was flowing. Red in the face, sweating buckets, and physically ill, many passangers desperately fanned themselves to ease at least some of the heat.
I know heat, and this was not just a mild annoyance. The bus driver's refusal to turn it on was dangerous, and even I began to feel feint in the last 10 minutes of the drive.
The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is that I'm sure that on a more mild day, the only annoyance would be the absent (yet advertised?) wifi.
Next time I'll take the train. read more
