INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER CARE AND SERVICE!!!…read more I'm writing this review with a headline because after 4 years of ongoing dental work, I still choose Dr. Sam Castillo over every other Dentist in Stephens County because of the exceptional level of care and quality. I could literally write an essay about how well everyone at Dr Sam's practice has treated us because myself, my wife, and my daughter are all patients at Castillo dentistry. My very first visit was an emergency call bc of an abscess tooth. While they do accept a lot of different insurance, I had none, had never been there, and had called several other dentists in town, but no one could work me in before the following week. I spoke with Serena and told her my problem and she had me in the office a few hours later that same afternoon. Dr. Sam took time to listen to everything I told him, got the abscess under control, and got the tooth out. Since I've never had insurance it's important for me that I get the best care possible on a tight budget; after an emergency visit, 2 x-rays of the abscess, the extraction, and 2 follow up visits because of a dry socket, the whole ordeal cost me less than $300.00 because they didn't even charge me for the follow up visits, and both were walk-ins. On two separate occasions I had a stubborn infection that took almost 10 days to get under control and Dr. Sam always worked me in and saw me himself to make sure he was aware of my personal care, adjusted my antibiotics, and made sure that even though I had these incredibly painful infections I was as comfortable as possible. He and his staff have always treated us with something better than professionalism, they have always treated us like family. Something I would like to add is how personal and friendly the staff in the office, as well as the hygienists and assistants, are. Serena and Matt are the husband/wife team who are usually your first point of contact and they always set the tone for a great visit. Serena is Dr. Sam's daughter, and she works alongside her mom, who is a hygienist herself, in what truly is a family business. The last thing I'll say is that I am personally impressed with the fact that Castillo family dentistry is proudly Christian owned and operated. They don't cram Jesus down your throat, but you can feel the genuine love of Christ in every interaction, with every single person, every single time. Christian music is playing and there are devotional materials to read as you wait, and there are other spiritual materials available to take with you if you choose. If you're still reading, I apologize for this lengthy review. But after 4 years of care for myself and my family, I have a lot of good things to say about Castillo family dentistry. I was looking around for something to read, the only thing he had there, were these huge gold trimmed hard copy Bibles placed everywhere. Sorry, but while I am waiting for the periodontist, I want some light reading, I don't want to catch up on my Bible verses. So right there, you know the periodontist has got something wrong with him. Only someone kind of crazy would try and force people to read the Bible in a waiting room. So I go back to meet with him to get my initial consultation. I had some X-rays sent from my dentist, and I tell him I am there to see him about my bottom back tooth, on the right, which had been a problem. He does a check on me and sees one gum on a bottom tooth on the other side, on the left, also is low, at a "5", which he thinks could be a problem.I tell him, yes but the tooth on the right side is what is hurting on me, and I want to concentrate on that tooth today. Also I know from before that a "5" is not that bad, and it is something we can wait on. He tells me he wants to take new x-Rays on both sides. I said, well we have these other xrays, but I guess if you want to take new ones, okay. But then I say, well, we only really to take the right side, because that is what I am here for today. I asked him how much the X-Rays cost, because I thought I needed to know that first, to decide whether I wanted to get both sides. He would not tell me at first, so again I kept asking him, how much do they cost?. Finally he answered me, the price was not that bad, at $30 each. So I said, okay, if you really think you need to take xrays on both sides, then I guess, go ahead, even though I really only want to work on my right side today, so I really only think the right side is necessary today. I said, but if you want to take both sides, then I guess it's okay. Then he says quietly, I think it is better that you should go to another periodontist. I was like, :excuse me?". He said, go to another periodontist. I said, what is your problem? All I was doing is asking how much the x-rays cost? I said, I even said you could take both sides. I just wanted to make sure I could afford it first. I said, excuse me for asking about the price of X-rays! He would not explain anything else when I asked, he just kept stammering away about nothing, and he made sure I left. You know he had a guilty conscience, because he would not even explain himself in any way. You cannot treat customers like that. I think he was afraid, because I asked how much the x-rays cost, that I was a person who would not pay him. Or, I bet he wants to milk customers out of as much money as he can, and he saw once I was the type of person who asked questions and asked how much things cost, he got rid of me quick, because he knew he could not rip me off with unnecessary charges. This guy is a snake and a creep, and I recommend people, be careful about this guy. I think he could be that type of dentist who ends up pulling teeth that don't need to be pulled, just so he can charge you more, so he can make more money. Stay away from this guy, he is a creep.

I'll try to summarize my experience. Unfortunately I just finished an orthodontic treatment were I was left unsupervised for at least a year. I thought that's how invisible treatments work. It turns out my teeth didn't turn out as promised, and what's worse I don't know if this has caused any other damage. No to mention that during the whole process the treatment I received was absolutely inconsiderate and negligent. Yes, they offered to do something but only after I mentioned that I went to visit another dentist, who explained the damage. Dr Clarkson acknowledged that he doesn't know what could have happened. I think it is obvious: there was no supervision, no care and no consideration for me or my treatment. Of course, I can't trust them anymore and I've decided not to return. Updating my review on August 17, 2025 I want to update my review. I decided to get a second opinion regarding my orthodontic treatment performed by Dr. Clarkson. This time, I went to a specialist who confirmed the same thing as the previous dentist. My treatment isn't complete. My bite is still not correct, and what's worse, some teeth have shifted incorrectly. This means I have to start a new treatment and pay the same amount of money again. Money I don't have to spare because he knows the sacrifices I had to make as a patient of this office for years. If you're thinking about getting orthodontic treatment here, think carefully. First, because Dr. Clarkson is not an orthodontist, and second, if your treatment isn't completed satisfactorily, he won't acknowledge any damages, assume responsibility, or return any of your investment.
