I had a troubling experience with Dr. Terilyn Scott-Winfil, a gastroenterologist in Plano, Texas, as part of the Baylor Scott & White system. I sought help for worsening gastrointestinal symptoms that had led to severe weight loss, nausea, and digestive issues, making it difficult to eat even basic foods. Despite my detailed account, her approach to my care was minimal. She ordered an endoscopy, which showed polyps and inflammation, and suggested a low-FODMAP diet. Although I followed her dietary advice, my symptoms worsened, with pain and distress becoming more frequent. Shockingly, she never performed a physical examination, ordered lab work, or suggested imaging like X-rays or CT scans.
