Fantastically efficient office. Also very helpful friendly and courteous. Dr Kawamoto has a calm professional manner and our questions and answers were helpful. He was neatly dressed and took the time to listen. He ordered a series of tests for evaluative purposes and his office had precontacted each office with the required paper work that same day so that I could do them quickly. 5-17-21 Dr. Scott Kawamoto is a really great rheumatologist. I've been coming to him for almost 10 years. He's friendly, caring and super easy to talk to. I look forward and enjoy my in person visits and/or tel-med visits with him too. Today I went in for a regular scheduled visit as it was time to get a shot in my knee. He chooses the perfect spot for the injection, marks it, numbs it with a cold sensation spray and completes the treatment saying ice it today. Before I can head down the elevator his summary is already emailed. Efficient and conscientious! The restroom doors are now locked but the keys are available at the front check in window. There is hand sanitizer once you enter the office. The waiting room has been set up with 3 chairs for use and the others theater style facing a wall. Once it is your turn you are weighed then blood pressure and temperature in an examining room. Highly recommended doctor if you need this doctor specialty. read more

Update on my previous review. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a friendly staff member. She checked me in and walked me to the room. She washed her hands before she took my vital signs. I only had to wait a few minutes before Dr. Kawamoto came in to see me. He provided excellent care and had great hand hygiene practices! He is very easy to talk to and even provided feedback when I asked him a question about a medication my sister is taking. Great, quick experience. I was showed to the front office where the staff member checked me out and gave me some paperwork. This was a totally different experience from the last time I was here. Friendly, efficient, staff! I've been seeing Dr. Kawamoto for a few years. I was referred to him by my primary care physician for my Hashimotos and to check if I had lupus. So I see Dr. Kawamoto once a year to see if anything has changed with my status. My appt. doesn't last too long. I like that their staff calls me the week before to remind me of my appt. What I really like about Dr. Kawamoto is that when I went to see a naturopath, he was open-minded and didn't put her down as not being a "real" doctor. I feel that the two worlds can be beneficial to patients and there's not just one solution for everyone. That's the main reason for my 5 star review. I also like that he doesn't try to prescribe me pills unecessarily. read more

Dr. Scott Kawamoto is awesome! He is thorough, answers questions and explains things to you step by step. My initial visit was sort of like an assessment to see where I am in my autoimmune disease. I had been treated for lupus by my prior rheumatologist but Dr. Kawamoto ran extensive tests on me and it turns out I do not have lupus but I do have Sjogrens syndrome. Both auto immune diseases can mirror or mimic another like disease so it's better to get it diagnosed and get on the right treatment and track. I am sincerely and truly happy to have Dr. Kawamoto as part of my care team. He is young, knowledgeable and has a fun personality. His staff is really over the tops in explaining to you what tests you need and why. They are courteous and treat you well. I hope to have all of them in my corner for many more years to come. read more

My wife recently needed to find a rheumatologist. After an brief internet search, she decided to give Dr. Kawamoto a shot - mainly because he was near by (Queens POB 3) and he took Kaiser Added Choice. She's since had numerous visits and found Dr. Kawamoto to be both attentive and efficient. She says he's a young doctor that's easy to talk to and listens to your concerns. His office is new and clean and his staff is friendly and helpful as well. She's happy to have found him and would recommend him to anyone needing a rheumatology specialist. read more

Dr. Scott Kawamoto is a very intelligent and knowledgable physician. He has impeccable bed side manor and is caring and receptive. HOWEVER, his office is a disaster zone. Good luck trying to call the office first off. They are only open Tue., Thur., and Friday's for full days and have a half day on Wed. If you have a 9-5 job, you will NEVER be able to contact the office. Reason being they 1, rarely answer their phones and 2, they don't take voicemails! What good is having a doctor if you can't call to change an appointment or even make one! Let alone speak to them for advice or to change a prescription. Lastly, their billing office is just as unprofessional. They don't say a word about your copay at the time of the visit and then never bill you. So you may just have an outstanding payment at the office indefinitely until YOU call to ask them to check and see if you owe any money. Then if you want to actually PAY your bill, you can't! You have to wait for them to send you a bill.... which 6 months later, I still haven't received.... I just don't know how such an unprofessional staff can keep a physician's office functional. We are talking about personal healthcare here people and my number one concern is the lack in confidence I have with this office's professionalism and organization. These are my personal records after all and I want to know a competent employee is actually handling them. read more

Dr Kawamoto has been my Rheumatologist for almost three years now and I have received nothing but outstanding service from him and his staff. I have really aggressive RA and have had a real issue finding medications and treatments that work. Dr Kawamoto has been so patient and understanding during his process and really goes above and beyond to help me. I had to quit working over a year ago because the pain got so bad and I applied for Quest. Unfortunately, Dr Kawamoto's office doesn't accept Quest. But knowing how aggressive my disease was and that it would be hard to start over with a new doctor, Dr Kawamoto decided to accept my insurance anyways so that I may maintain continuity of care. I'm sure he wasn't supposed to do that, but that's how much he really cares for his patients. I feel lucky that I have such a great Rheumatologist to work with. read more

I just HAVE to modify my initial rating of Dr. Kawamoto. Why? Because I miss him. I never wanted to leave him. I was happy right where I was. I was told to leave because my insurance changed to the worst adjustment/write off, reimbursement insurance on planet earth. Trying to find a participating specialist willing to give you the same quality of care as private insurance patients is as hard as trying to find my 21 year old figure again. My PCP (primary care physician) didn't skip a beat. Same treatment, same quality of care, same appointment availability...nothing changed. I was his patient, not an insurance plan. Back to Dr. Kawamoto...we found a doctor "willing" to see me and I've been seeing him ever since. Let me put it this way, if I could take my current doctors front staff and Dr. Kawamoto, it would be perfection. Dr. Kawamoto use to check my thyroid, lungs, heart, abdomen, hands, knees and feet. He would listen to me and work with me to try to ease my symptoms. My PCP received reports immediately. My current doctor never touches me. I'm in and pushed out within 5 minutes. His staff, though, is wonderful. Usually exams run either on a 5,7 or 10 minute time schedule to stay productive. I was never worthy enough to move up to 7. I digress...just as a comparison to my current doctor, Dr. Kawamoto deserves 3 more stars. I apologize for the rant. Dr. Kawamoto, hire a management company to coach/motivate your staff and put systems in place to run a successful practice. Your talent and career deserves it. read more

I was referred to Dr. Kawamoto by my PCP to evaluate some possible symptoms of lupus or other autoimmune problems. First, the staff: the front desk employees were helpful and patient when I was confused by some of the paperwork. The nurse or assistant or etc. (I'm not sure) who took my vitals and all that was also great. Next, the doctor himself: he was very personable and reassuring, and he took my concerns seriously. He spoke To me, not At me or down to me. He took the time to read through (and make a copy of) a detailed list of symptoms that I brought in and asked me questions about them. I didn't feel rushed or dismissed at all. He even answered my questions about insurance. He also sent me for a ton of lab tests right after my appointment. All in all Dr. Kawamoto and the rest of the staff made an appointment I'd been stressing about for several weeks much easier and very productive. read more

When I come into the office I just stop at the glass window and let the girls know who I am. I usually wait a few minutes before the medical assistant calls me in to get my vitals. The assistants have always been friendly. I love Dr. Kawamoto. He's a great doctor who is very easy to talk to. He's very knowledgeable and thorough. Not only does he care about my health, but he also asks about my family. read more

Hes office staff does not answer the phone -even when they are there. Also there is no message machine so when you call even if its office hours they don't pick up ,He sees so many patients at one time he only spends a few minutes with you ,,He is a knowledgeable Doc ,,,hes bad side manner needs some improving .. read more
