Its a very impersonal experience and they are speaking about the patient in the room as if the patient isn't even there. The Filipino front office receptionist is not friendly at all and has an attitiude. A drama queen and complains about people the entire time, as patients can hear everything being said through the window. She also doesn't know her billing protocols and information. Not a professional employee. Be very careful to verify all of your insurance coverages before agreeing to any procedures such as the extensive lab testing, imaging and other tests that are ordered and performed right in the office. They don't give you the opportunity to do this unless you insist. You will need the codes for any procedures to verify with your insurance plan. Once you receive your results, its all business, and therapies are dictated without a lot of input from the patient, even based on previous negative experiences with said therapies.

Dr Alan Oki saved my life…read more He's been my doctor for over 5 years. He diagnosed and treated me for a life-threatening, rare autoimmune disease called cerebral vasculitis. If it wasn't for him, I would have died or been wheelchair bound. My case was extremely difficult to manage as my vasculitis was out of control due to misdiagnosis by previous doctors before meeting Dr. Oki. He took control of the situation and admitted me to the hospital and started me on high dose steroids. If he hasn't done that, I would have died or had a major debilitating stroke. Dr Oki is not afraid to take on challenging cases that other rheumatologists are afraid to touch. He sees complex patients in the hospital when other rheumatologists only want to see the simple cases in the office. He works as an interdisciplinary team with my neurologist and provides comprehensive care. He not only addresses the patient's physical ailments, but listens to them as a person. He has good clinical judgement. He also has a nice personality and is easy to talk to. His office is well run and his staff are nice and follow through on all his orders. What right did this receptionist/secretary have to say this? She apparently came from another office and was extremely incompetent in doing her job. Dr. Nakayama MISDIAGNOSED me saying I had SLE and after 23/24 years if being treated by him then told me HE THINKS I have Sjogrens.. Dr. Nakayama is extremely inefficient in doing his job. Run away from him if you are referred to him. Find another rheumatologist who really cares about his or her patients. Not some lolo like him.
