I also recently chose Dr. Nekoba as my PCP. My first visit with her was fine. I actually had to wait about 10 minutes to see the medical assistant, although the reception area was completely empty. Then another 15 minutes to see Dr. Nekoba, while I heard her outside talking story on the phone and chatting with the staff. I would think that as a "new doctor" seeing a new patient, she would be keen on making a good impression and delivering excellent professional service. If she's this nonchalant about a new patient this early in her professional career, I can't imagine what she'll be like in a few years when she gets busier, more patients, and more jaded! I scheduled a 2-step TB test. The person at the reception desk in scrubs gave me the first step injection. I came back in a week to get the reading. Same woman at the reception desk was there and checked me in. I waited an obscenely long time - 45 minutes, until I went up to her and asked her if I really needed to see someone (can't she just look at my arm for the reading, since she's apparently qualified to administer the injection?). She said I did need to and she'd check with someone to see the status. A few minutes later, another person comes out and takes me in back. She apologizes and says there was a "computer error" that indicated I was already seen. So... if I never went up to ask about my reading, I would've been sitting there indefinitely? Because a "computer error" checked me in, and out at the same time? Grrr. I decided to get my 2nd step done at the free Lanakila clinic, rather than be subjected to this level of "professionalism" and have to pay for it.
To add insult to injury, Dr. Nekoba scheduled a follow-up appointment for a few months later after my initial visit with her. For what, I'm not sure. A few weeks later, since I was visiting another doctor on the same floor, I stopped in to reschedule the date of my follow-up visit with Dr. Nekoba, and found out that my appointment was actually made for a different doctor in that office. I'm glad I stopped in to reschedule, or I would've taken off from work to go to an appointment with a doctor that I didn't actually have. I can just imagine the frustration. I'm sorry, but I'm going to search for a new PCP. I'm not impressed with Dr. Nekoba or her staff, and I've learned that the office staff does matter - because they are the ones you'll have to rely on for scheduling appointments, sending prescption info, etc. The staff here seems not so friendly and prone to making many mistakes at their patients' expense. NO thanks. read more
