Dr Hernandez is amazing. I transferred to her practice a couple of years ago after a bad experience with another practice, and she is everything I could ask for. Impeccably honest and forthcoming, she also gives great stories ... no extra charge! My favorite thing about her is integrity. She doesn't sell unnecessary work or services, her office is sparkling and there is not a seedy bone in her body. Dr. Ana is a blessing!! She gave me two new front teeth crowns 5 years ago because I was self conscious of how short I had ground my teeth in my sleep. They're gorgeous!! I had a cavity for a while but didn't have insurance to take care of it and when I finally did, the dentist I went to was a little insensitive about my anxiety as was the rest of the staff. It made me feel horrible and I did not want to go back to a dentist ever. I needed a root canal and Dr. Ana was sooo sweet and really attentive. Any time I felt pain, she would numb me some more - now I know I have sensitive nerves and may need extra numbing. She plays music, is so welcoming and doesn't shame you for needing work done. I had a panic attack in the middle of it and she didn't make me feel bad. I kept thanking her and she has this beautiful attitude like, "well, you feel pain and I don't want you to. Last week I needed a tooth pulled. Ana prescribed some medication to combat the infection. Went back 4 days later and in under 30 minutes the tooth was gone! It was a big tooth, near the back. She's an expert and knows what she is doing. I'm very happy and now recommend her to everyone! Her brother, Ralph, works with her and both of them are as nice as can be. 10 stars - not just 5. t;dr: Solid, trustworthy, old-school dentist with a big heart and a delightful breezy office space. Yikes :/ So... I can't say the other reviews haven't been my experience to some degree, but I've been going to Dr. Hernandez for 3 years now (just got a cleaning last week and she said I've been keepin' em clean!) -and she's been awesome to me! Yes, I have waited a /very/ long time (bring a book?) but this last time I hardly waited at all. If I hadn't shown up early, I would have waited even less... lol She doesn't have the latest technology (the xrays are those thingies that hurt and there's no same day caps), or a huge staff (just her and her brother) aaand, she can be a bit messy and my gums feel a bit raw after my cleaning... BUT, she has never belittled me for wanting more Novocain, she always remembers things that we've talked about, she has never tried to sell me on services I didn't need (successfully filling a cavity that 2 other dental networks told me had to be a root canal), in fact she encouraged me to go back to another dentist that had messed up my teeth, hard sold me into getting root canals I didn't need and never gave me the cleaning I originally came in for (see my other reviews! SHE'S the dentist I refer to there) and she's always been fair in her pricing when I've needed additional services. I really needed a dentist that I felt comfortable going to, financially and for my health, and she is wonderful. I didn't go to the dentist for years because of other places, and now I go see her regularly. This last cleaning didn't even hurt that much because my teeth were doing so much better. Her brother always remembers me too. They make quite a team in their breezy office space. Sometimes I get to see the doggies :) And she always plays good music. read more

I consider Dr. Hernandez to be very unprofessional. She runs a one person office and she does it all. A month after I saw her I went to see another dentist who found two cavities and a root canal that needed to be done. read more

I began seeing Dr Hernandez four years ago and enjoy the non corporation business style. She doesn't over over sell services and keeps overhead low by using other family members. I would recommend her. Phone contacts can be difficult sometimes. Call back instead of waiting for her to call you. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in 10 years. Embarrassed to say but I had such a bad experience years prior. With that said, Ana is amazing! The cleaning was quick. Her brother Ralph was awesome. The office was comfortable and welcoming. Ana did a great job on the cleaning and was straight and to the point about what I needed to get done and the cost. Fantastic dentist. I've been coming to her twice a year for cleanings for 26 years! I've been driving all the way from LA passing by thousands of other dentists along the way closer to where I live to come to Ana. My teeth are in great shape because she has always done a great job cleaning them. I've never had a single cavity since coming to Ana. She has made three crowns for me over the years also, two cosmetic, one for replacing a tooth that cracked due to age, all were a good experience. Ana doesn't over charge or pressure to upsell you on more work than is needed. She tries to get your insurance to cover everything. I've had other dentists try to the deep cleaning diagnosis, which I've never believed, but Ana doesn't press you for that. She just does what's necessary - she's very ethical. Her demeanor has always been so gentle and pleasant. It's a very low stress visit to the dentist. I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about, raises questions to me about the validity of the reviews, could be fake reviews from competitors. But if they're real, they are certainly NOT the experience I've had with Dr. Ana Hernandez. If they went to her ONE TIME, compare that to me, I've been to her over 50 TIMES! And I keep coming back! That says a lot. And to those silly people saying she sprayed them with water, newsflash for you, you get wet a little when you go to the dentist, its unavoidable, get over it. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Ana Hernandez for a couple years now. I went to another dentist and was told I had a cavity. When the dentist left the room the assistant told me that I didn't. I didn't know what to do. A friend recommended Dr. Hernandez and I went in and she took an x-ray of the tooth and said I absolutely do not have a cavity. She did not even charge me for the x-ray or the office visit. So #1 she is honest. I highly recommend her because she has a warm personality, she is very gentle and reassuring. Her calm demeanor and soft music will put you at ease. Her brother runs the front office and is friendly and pleasant to deal with. My entire family comes to Dr. Hernandez. She will not try to upsell you. I came to her for a root canal and any other dentist would of charged you well over $1,000. She was only $450. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a change read more

This is by far my worst dental experience ever! Don't waste your money trying to go cheap. I came to Ana Hernandez to change my two old crowns that I got done in TJ., Mexico, 10 years ago for $130 each. I got 2 crowns from Ana Hernandez for $500 each. They are the ugliest crowns I have ever seen, they look like dirty old gum. Second, my dentist said they are too big & do not fit well on my tooth, & need 2 be replaced. A ton of food gets caught in those crowns, & flossing can't get deep in the crowns to remove the food. I lost a $1,000 trying to save money, & I was in the worst pain for a week, just 2 replace crowns. I've had 2 root canals & was not in as much pain. Don't waste your money or time!!! read more

Cleaned and polished my teeth in less than 10 minutes. What a joke! Sloppy, messy, sprayed water all over me. Jammed a pick in my gums several times until tears were rolling down my cheeks. One person operation and she did not even realize I was a new patient until I told her. Avoid at all costs. She is just there to do as little as possible and collect insurance money. read more

PEOPLE PLEASE!! Try to keep your natural teeth as much as possible! Don't let Hernandez talk you into filing your teeth down into little stubs and cementing cheapy crowns on that will cost you an arm and leg since I thought she knew what she was doing. Get a second opinion please! Years ago, I let her do that to my two front teeth and less than 5 years later they started to come loose, got a bad infection and had to get a root canal done on one, then later the same with the other from a different dentist. It was a costly nightmare to fix. And that's not all, the repair was just a band aid to the job she had done and til this day, I now have to get titanium implants installed for a long term fix, again a costly procedure and time consuming. I took a family member there for a scheduled appointment in early afternoon. There were only two unoccupied chairs in waiting room , in addition to one in a wheelchair. The waiting room was not only crowded but also disheveled and there was some litter on the floor. The reception man seemed to be completely incapable of completing any task, and seemed to be unaware of any process or protocol for checking in patients. After several unusual verbal exchanges between waiting patients and the reception man, and a still completely packed waiting room, I quietly approached him at the " reception counter". In answer to my question about the number of dental personnel who were available to work on patients, he said one. I asked how many of the people in waiting room were to be seen , prior to my relative, and he indicated all of them. I confirmed that my relative had a scheduled appointment which was already a half hour earlier. He seemed baffled , so I ask if it would probably be two or more hours until my relative would be treated. His answer indicated that it would probably longer than two hours. My next question was, what is the point of making an appointment. Her stared blankly at me, and never answered. We cancelled the appointment and left. Within three minutes of leaving, my relative ( who I was now driving back home) got a cell call from her daughter saying the dentist had just called her and said fir us to return right away and she would see my relative in just a few minutes. We declined. Unless this was a very unusually rare day in her practice, I have no idea how this dentist is able to remain open and in practice. During this whole experience I thought, wait this is a televised hoax, and when we leave, they will jump out and say, " surprise, you are on Candid Camera." read more

Do not underestimate the other reviews as I'm sure they are spot on as well . I had to wait at least a week before writing this review my experience was so comical . Called to make appointment for new patient left message . Didn't get a call back until 9 o'clock at night what the hell weird .made appointment anyway for 830 am . Showed up at 830 , woman sitting outside said she had appointment at 8 and they still aren't even open . Ana and her brother pull up at 9 jump out of the vehicle with two super obnoxious dogs barking and looking like they bite . ( I have a well trained dog I am a dog person ) . First thing out of her mouth was I'm so sorry we stopped for coffee. Really lady coffee ? We are waiting outside your place of business to open because your getting coffee . Your kidding . I walk inside I ask is the other lady going first ? She says yes don't worry will only take a second . I said no problem I'll go grab some coffee and be right back and left ! They called me Friday to confirm an app for today. Drove from Simi Valley where I was staying with a friend for a few days. Come to find out there office was closed. Bummer. Lights off. The person who called me Friday to schedule the app said that they are not the normal receptionist. Just there to help out a friend. Weird. Extremely disappointed and discouraged that they would schedule me and not be there to attend me. I should have known. They have nothing but 1 star for service. My dentist retired. I needed to find a dentist that was local and something I could afford. I got Dr. Hernandez # and local. I called l, asked to see me asap. I was in her office the next day. Very friendly and was honest in what I needed done. I left there very happy and relieved that my tooth wasn't hurting anymore and I found a new dentist.. I have referred Anna to 3 of my friends.. They have all become new patients with her and are happy as well. Office is very clean and relaxing as well as she is with her patients when your in her care. read more
