I've had several extremely positive experiences ranging from preventive cleanings to major work with Invisalign, veneers and replacing old fillings. His office invests in technology to ease patient anxiety and discomfort. My most recent experience to replace 4 fillings lasted just under an hour and was virtually painless. I've been a patient at Dr. Province's practice since 2008, with Daisy Santiago as my dental hygienist and Dr. Ryan Woody overseeing most of my dental work in the past several years. Daisy does immaculate work and we've bonded over many chats about motherhood since I became a mom. Dr. Woody recently moved and left the practice - I really appreciated his calm, professional demeanor and easy way of speaking. Dr. Province and his staff will actually make going to the dentist something to look forward to! High tech office and equipment, for one, makes those dreadful cleanings less painful, more efficient and quicker! His cleaning crew are all very meticulous and very conscious of your comfort level. In addition to monitoring your pain threshold, they also have warm face cloths to wipe off post-cleaning and face masks so the grime and gook from your cleaning does not splatter over your face. Dr. Province is easily one of the best dentists I've had the pleasure of dealing with. I first booked an appointment with Dr. Province on the recommendation of a coworker. When I first walked in, I couldn't help but be impressed by how state-of-the-art everything was. I'd been getting my teeth cleaned regularly by good dentists, but I wasn't prepared for the machinery I saw. Thankfully, the staff explained everything in detail. Though I was just in for a routine cleaning and (at that time) a new client, I was treated with nothing but courtesy and respect by the staff at all times. I am beyond impressed with Dr. Province and his entire office staff! I've been a patient of his for the past three years and I've not had a single bad experience! I might even go so far as to say that I now ENJOY going to the dentist. Even the receptionists at this office are great! I never feel rushed when I'm on the phone with them. They are easy to get in touch with and they are flexible. I have probably changed appointments 2 - 3 times within a matter of days, but they never once sounded frustrated. IF YOU ARE ANXIOUS ABOUT THE DENTIST AT ALL - BE AT EASE - THEY'RE EXCEPTIONAL! Before I get into it, the take away is that as a person who has had to resort to taking anti-anxiety medications to set foot into a dentist's office for nearly 20 years, and who views going to the dentist as a last resort, reserved only for when something catastrophic has occurred, I cannot believe that I'm giving a five star review to anyone in the profession. In this case, the whole place deserves many more accolades than I can offer, and when I left, I was set up for my next cleaning and another procedure without feeling the stress of a possible return. I was referred by a good friend, so I didn't have the usual hesitation I would have had if I had just gone in cold. My first impression began when booking my appointment. I expressed my anxieties and what made me so nervous and I was assured that Dr. Woody would work through it with me and that I would be just fine. Upon arrival, I was greeted as warmly as I had been on the phone. I filled out some paperwork and expected to be marched back to the exam room where I would wait for the good doctor; my expectations were bucked immediately. Dr. Woody came out to greet me personally. He gave me a tour of the office, which is beautiful and not at all like a sterile dentist office. It is meticulously designed with great music piped softly into each room and televisions on the walls running cnn, though if you wanted a channel change, I'm sure they'd give you one. They have a lovely little lounge area; modern, well appointed bathrooms; state-of-the-art equipment that is organized and well maintained and for those with a touch of OCD, the whole place is clean and doesn't even smell like a dentist office. I felt like I was in an HGTV show home. Then, we sat down in an office to discuss my dental history and why I came in. We went to take xrays and then Dr. Woody got to work. Dr. Woody could not have been a better dentist for me. NYU trained, calm in demeanor, intelligent and funny, he walked me step by step through everything he was doing, why and what the outcome would be. I like to "know stuff", so he made a point to take extra time to explain what he was looking for as we went along. His patience with me was remarkable and his mannerisms put me at ease instantly. He was gracious with his time and attention to me as his patient and I could not be more grateful. He also didn't shame me for skipping five-years of professional cleanings and maintenance. We finished the cleaning. We mapped out a plan. I was given an estimate of costs based on my insurance and a time table that fit my financial needs to take care of some work that I need to have done and then, I was on my way. No anti-anxiety meds needed, no nitris to take off the edge. Just a pair of headphones and an exceptional play list of The Chemical Brothers, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon and more to listen to as Dr. Woody worked. When he was all done, he even high-five'd me, knowing that the triumph over my anxiousness was a really big deal. I hope that this review serves others who have anxiety surrounding dentists. *They take insurance and are, in my opinion, affordable for those of us on a budget. End result, happy teeth with a plan to make them even happier... and a less anxious participant in the quest for exceptional dental hygiene! read more

I found my new Dentist Office!! From the minute I walked in. I was greeted by the receptionist in a friendly and professional manner. After filling out my initial patient paperwork, one of the doctors themselves came out and gave me a tour of there facilities. The Doctor started with a preliminary consultation, then gave me a very detailed explanation of everything he was doing and looking for. I've been a patient of Dr Province for over 15 years. When he opened his own practice and office, he took dentistry to another level. The practice is akin to a serene spa. The staff is more accommodating than any other medical facility that I know. The office is run with a mutual respect for time. You have your allotted time slot and the staff does not overbook or double-book. Only one time out of dozens was my appointment slightly delayed (10 to 15 minutes) but the receptionist called me a half hour beforehand to alert me of the slightly later start time and offered a Starbucks card to use downstairs since I was already on the way. Next up - Dr Province continually improves his practice with the latest innovations to enhance comfort and reduce pain. For instance, he now offers laser procedures with the laser being used in place of a drill. The big benefit to this is that cavities can be operated on without anesthetic, numbing and injections. The laser acts as its own analgesic while burning away decay (and being gentler on the overall integrity of the tooth). I don't know if investing in this type of equipment makes it more profitable given the high cost of medical equipment yet Dr Province continually upgrades to the best tools available (he also offered digital x-rays and electronic injections well before they were commonplace among other innovations). I wish all doctors office were run as impeccably and immaculate as Scott run's his practice. read more

I have to say I'm a big baby when it comes to going to the dentist. I work myself up and stress myself out BUT going to Dr. Province changed all that! I had a cleaning a couple of weeks ago and it was truly an amazing experience! First of all, the hygienist (Daisy) took me on a tour of their space which is really nice and I thought so sweet. Brought me to the room where she does her magic. She treated me with kid gloves and I was extremely comfortable. It was the best feeling to know she really cared about hurting me (which she totally didn't!). I then had to sit with Dr. Province to discuss my x-rays etc... I had to make an appt. for two cavities and some other things down the road. I went back today and can't even believe the technology that they have! My two cavities were done by laser... no needle, no numbness, no drooling! Dr. Province is so sweet and friendly; totally makes you feel very comfortable. His dental assistant was so gentle too. I am so happy to have found them!! Oh and the women that are in the front part of the office are SO nice too. I got back to work and already shared his contact info with two co-workers! read more

Time to update. I've been coming here for over 2 years now and am still extremely pleased with my experience. Dr. Province and his crew are very professional, meticulous and have amazing bedside manners. I've had cleanings done by a number of his hygienists now- and ALL have been fantastic. They always give me a refresher on dental hygiene and maintenance (prevention prevention prevention!) and explain details that others gloss over. I've also had a number of more significant procedures done, including fill-ins and a crown-- very satisfied with the results. The equipment at the office is state of the art and the office iteslf is very clean and comfortable. None of this is surprising since Dr. Province sets a great example- always thorough with his examinations, detailed and patient when explaining his diagnoses and providing excellent dental care. And as if that weren't enough, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen- they never seem to run late with appointments. Amazing. read more

Nice staff, nice guy and nice office with a bunch of cool gadgets. However, I simply don't trust Dr. Province. Prior to moving to NYC, I had gone to the dentist pretty regularly (once very 12-18 months, so good but not great). I never had any problems with my teeth. My previous dentists always commented on how great my teeth were. However, Dr. Province told me that I had 8 cavities that I needed to take care of right away. I told him I'd think about it. The next time I went back to my hometown, I went to see my old dentist back. He laughed at the notion of 8 cavities and said that the only the most extremely conservative of dentists could even find a problem with 7 of the 8, and the eighth tooth was in a little worse shape but since I wasn't having pain, he wouldn't recommend any work. EDIT: just to respond to Dr. Province, who took the time to respond. My name isn't John, nor does my last name start with S. I came in for a visit at least 6 years ago, and only wrote the review well after the fact. I'm sure it would be difficult to find me in your customer list. Dr. Province is by far the best dentist I've ever been to. He is incredibly kind and thorough during your appointmment, and his awesome technology (custom ipod while you wait for the numbing meds to kick in, video goggles to watch a movie while you're getting serious work done) makes the time fly while you're in the hot seat. I got a few cavities filled (hadn't been to the dentist in a while because I didn't have any good ones recommended to me until Dr. Province) and he uses a camera connected to the instruments to show you everything he is doing/drilling while he is doing it... IF you want to watch that instead of the movie! Either way, it is reassuring to know you can see the cavity with your own eyes and knows he isn't drilling just to charge you for nothing. I have been going to Dr. Province for 8 years and have always received exceptional care. Then, yesterday, I go in for the normal scary filling (although knowing that Province will take good care of me and put me at ease, as always) and was anticipating having the sagging mouth for my afternoon meetings, but no! He has a new fancy laser! I got a laser filling! And it was painless and incredible and had to think about what I had done that morning later in the afternoon because the ease of the filling did not leave a lasting impact on the rest of my day, as it usually does when getting local anesthesia and a filling. As one who is prone to put off going to the Dentist, I was very happy with my first visit to Dr. Province's office. As other reviewers note, the office is very modern. The staff, from the office manager to hygienist to Dr. Province are all very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Not your typical sit-in-the-waiting-room-for-20-minutes-reading-a-1997-Newsweek like you typically think of when going to the Dentist. My experiences with dentists in New York City had been horrifying until I visited Dr. Scott Province, whose modern office is conveniently located near Grand Central. His focus is 100 percent on the patient sitting in front of him and I've never met a dentist who is both as professional, calming, and soothing as Dr. Province. He takes the time to patiently explain and answer all your questions no matter how simple or complicated they may be. I appreciate the small things he does to make your visit as comfortable as possible such as providing a soothing custom playlist via an iPod and the digital movie glasses (Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Hangover are a couple options) to use. In addition, his staff is very helpful and equally trained. They are also helpful in answering all the various questions related to the sometimes confusing issue of insurance and billing. Moreover, the office does not "double book" so unlike some dentists, there is no wait time in the reception area at all. As a result, I've been able to go and return back to work in less than an hour, which is very important to me. As much as our society dreads dentist visits, each trip I've made to Dr. Province has been a consistently an overwhelmingly positive experience. read more

Dr. Province is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to. He is incredibly patient, kind and knowledgeable. From the moment I entered his office, I was greeted with a smile and handshake by the receptionist. I waited only five minutes before the hygienist greeted me and gave me a tour of the office (including the lunch area). Simultaneously, I was introduced to Dr. Province and he couldn't have been more gracious. The hygienist then spent time talking to me about general dental hygiene and how my time would be spent with her through the X-ray and cleaning process, always reminding me what would come next. The equipment is state of the art and the office very clean. After my cleaning, Dr. Province checked for oral cancer, bite alignment and other dental checkpoints. He thoroughly reviewed my X-rays and photos with me, viewing them together. He even provided a Netflix recommendation. Finally, as my first visit was about 2 hours, the billing clerk went over what my insurance coverage and provided a printed treatment plan along with a financial breakdown of costs. I went to Dr. Province a while back and while it was the nicest facility I've ever been to for a dentist and my experience there was great, I was informed I had 9 cavities. After never having a cavity in my life, I was alarmed and concerned and sought out a second opinion. At my other dentist, I did not inform him I had a mouth full of cavities beforehand and was actually told my teeth are perfect and I had no cavities at all. I had a really good insurance plan at the time and felt as though Dr. Province was dead set on getting as much out of that insurance as possible. I also had a friend who went to him as well and at 21 years old was told he needed to have all of his existing fillings replaced. Several of my coworkers seemed to have the same experience, needless to say, none of us go to him any more. Dr. Province seemed great and trustworthy and had an immaculate office so I see the draw, but question EVERYTHING they tell you. Going from 9 cavities to absolutely no cavities is not possible. I'll take an average office with an excellent dr. any day over movie glasses! read more
