I really liked Dr. Josephson when I was his patient for a couple years. In a convenient location. My cleanings were always quick and easy. When I had an emergency and had to come in, he was able to see me a few days later. His pricing for the crown that I needed was pretty outrageous and led me to search elsewhere purely for financial reasons. It would have cost me about $1,000 even with dental insurance at his practice. I did some searching and ended up changing providers to another reputable dentist in Astoria where the price was just $400 after my dental insurance coverage. I called to inform them of the change and they offered to give me my crown for the $400. I'm not sure what's up with that but I felt really turned off by the fact that they were haggling with me for my dental care. I left the practice because this felt a bit suspicious to me despite perhaps good intentions. read more

He provides the highest care from the minute you step into his office and even when your away. He is so professional that he will tell you wait and see before doing any unneeded work to avoid you extra cost. The prices are affordable and really do depend on your insurance and co-pay. He works alone and does general cleaning, root canals, and crowns. He takes my insurance of Aetna DMO. He does his own xrays in office and your appointments are spot on time. You can approach him and have a conversation, a gentleman. His bedside manners are perfect. Clean office with nice soft music to ease your mind. Mrs. Nicole the office secretary is very helpful, understanding the complexities of insurance companies. She is professional and polite and brings joy with her laughter. She was outstanding getting me into the tight rotation of my insurance. She is also pleasant to have a conversation and friendly. She answers my calls and concerns and relays with the Dr. promptly. I have only been here once but first impression are important. I will continue to be a patient and look forward to my next visit. The office is very well maintain, and is in a convenient location from me (in between my school and my job) and you are basically seen at the time of your appointment which is very fitting if you are person who runs on a tight schedule. I had eight veneers done at this dentist and it was the most painful dental experience I've ever had. During those three excruciating hours, I really wanted to get up and leave. Not only was the work performed painfully, but the quality was also horrible. Another dentist saw them and confirmed in a letter stating the dental work was clearly below the standard of care. The veneers exhibit grossly ledged and open margins at the gingival of each tooth and show voids behind the veneers. What that means is that if I don't replace them right away, the teeth behind will decay and eventually I'll lose all those teeth. Stay away from this dentist!!! read more

He's a sole practitioner with a receptionist/secretary up front and newly remodeled dental chairs and rooms in back. Most dentists are in group practices nowadays and you can feel sort of lost. I liked getting individualized attention from just one competent, pleasant professional. Over the past six years, Dr. Josephson has replaced crowns for me, cleaned my teeth, and filled cavities. Last summer I chipped one of my front teeth very badly and called Dr Josephson in a panic to fix it. He had me come in the following day and suggested we put on a porcelain crown as it would be a more permanent fix to the tooth. The process from beginning to end was seamless and he made me feel very comfortable about the different steps throughout the entire process. The crown came out absolutely amazing and matches my other teeth very well!! Secondly, Dr. Josephson provides an excellent mix of care and no-nonsense. I recommend his services without reservation. I went in for cleaning, scaling, and treatment for a relatively serious, open cavity. I could not be happier with the whole experience. He was effective, quick, and articulate in everything that he did; and he clearly is not in the business of pushing unnecessary procedures on his patients. Though it's a small office, they've integrated well with the ZocDoc system, allowing you to pre-fill out your forms prior to your visit. Furthermore, Dr. Josephson takes care of your entire checkup, including cleaning, which is typically done by an assistant. He's very personable and knowledgeable in dental care. I learned that he's been in practice at the same location for over 21 years, so his practice has clearly been a success (especially given the high rent of the premiere location on 57th St). eric josephson is a nasty person. i went to him to have a crown replaced and agreed to pay the bulk of the cost up front, which i did. i was left with a few hundred dollars to pay him. i was paying out the balance, but then covid happened and it affected my finances. i had a balance of less that $100.00 and he harassed me to make payments by constantly calling and leaving horrid messages. he even had his lawyer call me and threaten me that if i didn't pay up the under $100.00 amount he would report me to the credit agencies. this man is disturbed when it comes to money. i realized that he charged me a fortune for a new crown, and that he made a large profit from it. yet, he still pursued me doggedly over a small amount due him. my advise is to stay away. there are plenty of good dentist to chose from in nyc. read more

I contacted Dr. josephson on the recommendation of a friend when I had a very painful toothache and he made time for me right away. Turned out I needed root canal which he was able to do in the office. His after care was superlative: he called me several times to make sure i was healing well and followed up until all traces of pain were gone. My crown was difficult to install, but Dr. j refused to give up and was ultimately successful sparing me the need for a bridge. Routine care-cleaning, x-rays, check-up are also handled in the most professional way. Dr. josephson is meticulous to the point of almost to the point of being OCD, which is all to the good of his patients His chairside manner is warm and caring. I recommend him highly. read more

Dr. Josephson is wonderful. I had my first visit yesterday and it was Dr. Josephson and not an assistant who took care of my cleaning! I am pregnant and although it is safe to have x-rays done while pregnant with proper protection, Dr. Josephson din't want to take any risks. This is such a nice change of pace from other dentists who tend to want to drain your insurance for the year -- especially when they cover x-rays like mine. He was so wonderful and also ended up recommending a few good strollers! While leaving the office, a patient came in from California who used to live in NYC but apparently still comes in to see Dr. Josephson when in town. That's a sign of a good dentist! Eric Josephson is not only a great dentist, but he goes out of his way for his patients. This past weekend (a holiday weekend!) I chipped my tooth while at a restaurant. I called his office and on his voicemail he provides his home number in case of an emergency. I highly doubt that many dentists offer their home number! I have been going to Dr. Josephson for many years, and have found him to be a skilled and competent dentist. I especially want to note that the work he has done regarding bonding has been exceptional. He has bonded spaces and teeth that were out of alignment with the other teeth so expertly, that it is impossible to tell anything was done, and the result is that my teeth appear straight, with no spaces, and beautifully aligned, making for a confident and beautiful smile. Amazingly, he is not nearly as expensive as many other NY dentists, and schedules appointments well so that my wait time to be seen has consistently been 10 minutes or less. His assistant calls in advance to confirm and remind you of scheduled appointments. Dr. Josephson is also on call after office hours leaving his home number on his office answering machine. WHO DOES THAT??!! He follows up after procedures with calls to you at home to check if there is discomfort or other concerns. Dr. J manages time efficiently and does not subject you to long waiting in his waiting area. I needed a dentist because the one I used in the past did not accept my new insurance, and Dr. Josephson came highly recommended by a colleague. Now I am so delighted I met Dr. Josephson, it was worth changing jobs! Great office, fantastic location, modern equipment, polite and considerate stuff - I could go on and on, but the best part (and only one that matters) was his high professionalism. I had two extremely difficult procedures - a root canal and tooth extraction. It does not get any worse than that, right? Wrong. Both procedures were performed masterfully - clean, quick execution - practically painless. I didn't even get a chance to get scared of nervous. Both times followed by an ex-ray - to make sure everything is perfect, and a phone call the next day - to make sure I am feeling ok. As a matter of fact, I was feeling GREAT.
