The vibe going into Scott Benny's was super loud and energetic. We went around 10 pm so there were about 10-15 people there I believe (it's a small bar). At first I didn't think I was going to like it, but after we got a few drinks, and more people came, it got a little more fun. They had a few games at the bar so we played connect four a few times. My bf gets Jameson and ginger ale and I normally order amaretto sour. Our bartender Kirsten was so much fun. She made our drinks perfectly and she seemed like the life of the party,dancing, singing. We ate before we went so I didn't order food, but we got honey lemon pepper turkey wing and empanada to go. The turkey wing was good but didn't like the flavor too much. I had the Scott Benny's Food Truck and this place was EXACTLY what I wanted it to be. Fun menu, fresh food, made to order, and hot. What else do you want? As soon as I got my tray that thing was heavy. I knew they were legit as soon as I felt that box. I got the chicken philly cheesesteak with fries and oh man let the pictures speak for themselves. It was hot, cheese-pull, fresh vegetables, fresh chicken. It was perfect. It's what I wanted it to be. Their fries are really good. They're hot and they have seasonings on them. I'm really happy with my order. It's one of those food places that as soon as you're done eating you feel full and happy. I went on a Wednesday night, and I had a surprisingly amazing time! The (I think) Henny wings and fries were SO good! The drinks were strong and good, and especially the Rum Punch. Let me not forget about the dj...he made my night with the wide variety of music he played. There wasn't much of a crowd, but the way he worked the room was as if he was on stage, and I enjoyed every moment of it! The setup is nice, the ambiance is good, and it's a great gem! I tried going back a few days later for those wings, but they were closed and didn't answer the phone the few times I called. This was my first trip to Scott Benny's. Our waitress was very friendly. We were going to order chicken wings, based on another review, but decided to order the Friday special, fried fish and french fries. We also ordered the oxtails with rice and beans, plantains and cabbage. The fried fish was excellent. The dipping sauce that came with it was thick and flavorful. The french fries were great. The oxtails had a lot of flavor, but were smaller than some of the others I've tried. The cabbage is some of the best I've ever had. It was juicy and full of flavor. The plantains were good. I hadn't tried rice and beans like this before but they were good. The white tea (mixed drink) was excellent. I will definitely be returning soon. read more

While returning to Charleston I got hungry and pullover in Blythewood SC to Scott Benny's. This restaurant has a beautiful warm island atmosphere! The sign out front "Beer While You Wait" got my attention however once I got my salmon lunch plate it was so delicious that I couldn't hit the road & do a "eat and drive"I pulled over and ate my well seasoned/dinner sized portions!I even had leftovers. Honestly i wasn't pleased with the food and I really wanted to be. However the hospitality AMAZING HANDS DOWN. I ordered plantains and they weren't cooked enough, the fish tasted like it was cooked in old grease (which my friend smelled once we sat down) and the slaw wasn't good. The fries were good though! Why didn't I send it back ? Because I hate to be THAT customer. However, if i would have I know that they would have been very nice about it because they were so welcoming. The vibe is cool. The bartender and server were very friendly. The only problem was the wait for our food. It was very busy the evening we came in; mostly people sitting at the bar. People that called/made online orders came in and picked up food but for some reason we sat and waiting all most an hour before we gave up. As a matter of fact the bartender (who was the highlight of our visit) left and came back and saw we still hadn't received our food. We kindly paid her for our drinks, gave her a tip and told her that we didn't want our food that was just be finished. We called San Jose, ordered some food and picked it up within the 10 minutes it took to drive there. I'd like to come back and try again one day. Hopefully this was a one off. read more

Tonight was my families first time at Scott Benny's and we were pleasantly surprised. Our server, Cara was incredible. She was attentive and kind and knowledgeable about menu items. She took the time to talk to my daughter and get to know her and showed grace when she accidentally broke something. The fried green tomatoes were BOMB. I've never had them thick cut like that, and they were cooked perfectly. The fried plantains were also good. I liked the sauce that came with them too. Took forever, forgot everything, I don't even think they remember where they work. To top it off we had a coupon that gave us 30$ off and the manager refused to honor it because it didn't look familiar to them when we showed them they coupon and it was the same people they work with. At least half off but no. Rude. Slow. Expensive. Our waitress also thought it was cool to sit at every table and talk to us like we were friends. Today my girlfriend ordered from your truck today and it was not a good experience by far. To start, it is known that the workers at this certain business have a limited lunch time and don't have a lot of time to waste waiting an extended amount of time for substandard food. I assume you know this if you are contracted to service that faculty. With that being the case it took 15 minutes to get an order of fries and a hot dog. And then when she finally received her hot dog she bites into it and it's cold in the center. So if it's not gonna be hot why did it take so long? And to top it off she got extremely sick to the stomach and was on the verge of vomiting from trying to eat this cold and unprepared "food". I assume that you have been in business long enough to know how to take care of your customers. I would advise that in the future that you please ensure that you provide a much better product and experience than you did today. You have lost a loyal customer and if it was up to me you would be prohibited from servicing the company ever again. The customer service is AWFUL and I do mean AWFUL. Let me explain! The place was not busy and she took my order @ 8:30 and I didn't receive my food until 9:45. After, waiting so long she had the audacity to tell me it would be an additional $1.68 for the sauce in which, I thought was included. She never took into consideration my wait time nor her numerous lies about how long my food would be. She just told me it would be 5 min., after waiting 30 min. Yet, I noticed others that came after me got there food, when I had just ordered chicken tenders and a Quesada. And she never apologized for the wait time. We visited for the first time hoping for a new spot to eat in Blythewood. My granddaughter ordered a grilled chicken Greek salad. There was nothing Greek about the salad. The chicken was shredded & honestly was the worst tasting food I've ever eaten. One of us ordered the chicken sandwich which was a frozen round processed piece of chicken that was fried. She asked for ranch & got something else that wasn't ranch. The best thing was the hot fries. Even ordered blue moon which should have an orange on the rim, nope not at this place. This food truck turned restaurant is probably the worst meal and experience that I'll have this year. The music was so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation without raising your voice, and there was a strobe light and spinning green lights that blasted us throughout dinner. We had 3 different waitresses come to our table within the first 5 minutes of getting the menu, and then I guess they forgot how to do their job because it took another 20 for someone to come take our order. The menu is small, but don't let that fool you; there wasn't enough space for food definitions. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer, and they came out as we were finishing our dinner. They were cold, covered in movie theater cheese, and the meat was pretty much inedible. We also ordered the tacos and a deluxe gyro, but what they failed to mention was that the deluxe gyro was full of shrimp instead of meat. It was also overloaded with onions and olives. If I said I had never seen such a disappointed face across the table as the tacos were being eaten, then I imagine you can get a pretty good idea of how they tasted. By the way, this was not an inexpensive meal. The tacos were 4x what they should have costed us, had they actually been good. I wouldn't send anyone here until they figure out what's going on with the switch from food truck to restaurant transition. read more

I came across the Scott Benny's food truck at the NewSpring summer cookout. I arrived at the church at 7:15 and quickly hopped in line for the food truck. Admittedly, the line was long, but it's a food truck and once you put in your order, you should be eating in 15-20 minutes tops. This is not the case with Scott Benny's. It took about 15-20 minutes for us to get to the order window. I ordered the "manburger" and she ordered the philly cheesesteak. We stepped over to the side and waited for our food. We waited, and waited, and waited. The window attendant also was advertising their company and food to the people in line instead of handing out the food that was ready to the patiently waiting customers. At 8:50, we finally got our food and I told Mimi that I would "never eat here again, whether the food is good or not". She did not offer to ammend the situation with a free drink or side or anything, instead she pleaded with me over the megaphone like a desperate romantic playing "baby come back" outside my bedroom window in a 90's movie. On to the food, The food was ok. I wouldn't go out of my way for it even if it was already cooked and ready for me to pick up. If I was already right next to the place, I would eat, if they could fit it into my lunch hour. The manburger was good, and if you are a poor helpless soul stuck eating here, I would recommend that. It's about as good as a steak and shake steakburger, but I have had better burgers at steak and shake. The philly, of which I had one bite of my girlfriends, was also ok. It was a classic philly. No special seasoning or twist that I would expect from a local food truck. I won't be going back, and I hope that this review helps someone make a decision to eat somewhere else. read more
