Came in here for some basic tackle, bait and intel on how to get my 9 year old onto some local trout and the guys working were super helpful. They steered me to the trout worms over earthworms because they can be kept at room temp and they're smaller so they're easier to use. I told them what tackle I was using and they helped me dial it in. They gave me lots of recommendations and tips for the various lakes, streams in town. They have rod/ reel rentals if you don't have one and a lot of great fly fishing gear and flies as well. I believe they can get you connected with a guide as well. Was referred here from the Rocky Mountain Visitor Center to get spikes for our hike. We go in, an older gentlemen maybe in his 50s with glasses told us we had to rent for more than one day because he said we wouldn't make it back in time to return them. But mentioned that we could get a refund for the additional day if we happened to make it back before he closed at 4pm. As we're walking out, he suggest that we don't steal them... we return them the same day and he explained that the money for the additional day he made us purchase would be refunded onto our card. We get in the vehicle we realize he gave my fiancé another persons rental ticket by the name Jorge Rodriguez. My fiancé is Hispanic... They suggested we would steal the spikes then gave my fiancé another Hispanic persons ticket. The people here are racist & liars. We called the following day to see if the money would reload to which we were told that they don't do refunds all of the sudden. Overall you'd be better off buying some on Amazon before your trip if you are a POC. read more

First visit to Estes Park. Went to this Sporting Goods Store daily. First day i went for a license and some advice. The salesman that helped me was amazing. He picked out a few flies and lures and I got my license. I was so impressed with his personal care that I was back on a daily basis. The next day I came in and there was different staffing. Same results. Even the owner helped me out this time. He selected a few more flies and rendered more helpful tips. I decided then to book a guided for me and my son. Neither of us had Fly Fishing experience. I was back again with my son for an evening guided adventure. I came early since my brand new fly reel was tangling when I pulled it out of my case. I was unable to fix it. I asked them if they would look at it and I'd be happy to pay for their time. The reel expert took it apart and corrected the problem. All along with sharing tips and valuable advice. When I tried to pay him for his time, he just said no need for payment, "Thats what we do here." The guide for our adventure ( named David) was already in the store selecting flies and preparing for the trip. We were an hour early. I didn't bring my rod or use the repaired reel. Everything was supplied with the cost of the trip, which was surprising priced well for all that was to come. The trip was booked as 4:00 PM to 6:00Pm. Since we were early and the guide was there he got us outfitted with waders and boots and we were on our way. This has already been very lengthy so I won't detail all what we went through with the initial tracing and actual fishing. I will say that David was amazing. We were with him for close to 4 hours. The actual fishing took about 2 1/2 ours. He was determined to teach how to fly fish. both my son and I feel very comfortable now with the art of fly fishing, which amazed me. The casting portion has always been a scary prospect. Not anymore. We had numerous hits and saw a lot of activity, but did not land a fish. That might be why he worked so hard for us.
