So we got about $10,000 worth of blinds and motorized shades in our new build home a year ago. We were quoted and told they would come within 5-6 weeks. Come week 7 no word from them, which to me was already a red flag since good customer service would update you, especially for the price you pay. Within 6 months of having installed one of our motorized shades won't charge at all and is stuck in the same half opened position We tried calling them dozens of times and even left voicemails, still no word from them. I had the pleasure of meeting Dave who is the owner of this company, with his wife . They did work for us in our home and it was a great job . Two years have gone by and I had a problem with one of the draw strings on the window that they installed, it broke and I couldn't find a replacement at HomeDepot, or on line. He brought us a whole collection of samples to choose from, helped us made selections, and even offered us a sizable discount due to a promotion the company was having. The blinds installation was done four weeks later, and it was carried out in a very efficient and painless manner. The installers were very polite and professional. When had initially intended to replace two blinds but when we called to set up an appointment we were informed that the company has a minimum order of three. In addition to replacing the old blinds in the living room and in the garage we decided to install vertical blinds in our kitchen. Our experience with ScotBlinds was mixed. The ordering process was very pleasant as David and team were very responsive. However, the quality of the shades delivered was much lower than what we were promised. The biggest issue was a shade that is a focal point to the house. It was either mismeasured or constructed incorrectly. The shade is noticeably off center with one side extending 3 inches passed the opening as compared to the other side. Also, the construction of the shade is a lower quality than what was conveyed to us. David explained that it would be a single box valance like the other shades in our house. When delivered the valance was constructed of multiple pieces that were connected by brackets leading to a flimsy design and a break in the middle. The existing shades used as a comparison are a solid wood box valance that is a single unit with no joints or breaks. We were very disappointed with the follow up from ScotBlinds on these issues. We received a thank you note asking us to leave a yelp review if we felt we could provide positive review but the multiple attempts we made to contact ScotBlinds to address these issues remain unanswered. read more

ScotBlinds is Awesome!!! They were referred to me by a friend who had them do her custom blinds and im really happy i decided to go with them. David (ScottBlinds) and Jerry (his installer) are both really good people who provide excellent service. We had a bit of a hassle with our order due to Covid shutting down the factory where my blinds were getting made but David was in constant communication with me. When my order came in separate shipments David made sure i was in the loop and when i could expect it. Jerry had to come out 3 times because things didn't come in on time, but rather than leave me without window covering he made 3 trips to get it done. None of the delays were their fault but they kept me in the loop which as a customer its all i care about. We recently remodeled our house which included replacing all of our windows. We needed window coverings for the whole house. We initially were working with an interior decorating company recommended through our interior designer. We decided to shop around after getting their quote and I'm so glad we did. We contacts ScotBlinds based on the reviews. The minute Alan walked in the door I knew I liked him. We told him what we were considering and he gave us excellent advice that showed us our choices were not the best for our lifestyle, even though he carried those same products and he would have made more money. We're extremely pleased with what we ended up with...and at $5000 - $10000 less than we were looking at with the other company (we had considered powered blinds, which he talked us out of). We went with honeycomb shades and one set of plantation shutters. Our house has remained so comfortable, even with the extreme heat we've been having. We have received a lot of compliments on the window treatments, especially on our sliders. We love how low profile they are when closed. One set is on a French door slider and opens from the middle. The other is on a traditional slider and opens from one side. We did room darkening shades in the bedrooms and our office and the rooms are so dark when they are closed, which is what we wanted. The installation went extremely smooth and the blinds/shutters were expertly installed. One set of friends is now in the process of getting their house done through ScotBlinds. Alan & Lilian are great people who care SO MUCH about quality, efficiency and making the customer happy. A little background: My husband & I moved into our house 10 years ago. The house had the original Hunter Douglas cellular honeycomb shades from 1998 when the house was built. At this point (21 years later), some of the shades were faded, ripped, stained & some of the cords didn't work. We knew we needed something new, but we weren't sure what to buy. We had done some research on products (shutters vs blinds etc.) and were in the market to hire a vendor, so we looked on Yelp to see reviews on various vendors and noted that ScotBlinds had 71 excellent five-star reviews. Shortly after, when we went to the Carlsbad Street Faire, saw Alan at the ScotBlinds booth, spoke with him about the products & heard his passion for quality & customer service, learned that all of the products are made in the USA, we were interested. We gave Alan our contact information and shortly after, he contacted us regarding our project. We were very impressed with his knowledge, punctuality, friendliness, level of patience & attention to detail. He brought lots of samples of various products since we didn't know exactly what we wanted. We like the look of shutters, but were concerned that they would block our views. Alan listened carefully explaining that the 4 1/2-inch shutters would not block our views and would look great in our windows. When he demonstrated that with a sample in our windows, my husband & I decided to go ahead and order white shutters for the entire house (24 shutters) with 6 of them being complicated "Eyebrow" arched windows. The next step was to set up an appointment to do the measuring. They showed up right on time and were very efficient & professional. When the shutters were ready to be installed, the process happened very quickly. We were amazed at how efficient the installers were! They split the installation into two visits putting in most of the regular window shutters on the first visit with the more complicated upper eyebrow arch window shutters, patio French door shutters & kitchen window shutters going in on the next visit. Rick & Patrick made sure that we were super happy with every detail of the installation process. The result was AMAZING! We knew it was going to be a major improvement from what we had before, but we didn't expect the following benefits: 1) It is SO much quicker to pivot the shutters open than it was to pull the string (hand over hand) to open the old shades. 2) When the shutters are in the closed position (when we leave the house), it keeps the house so much cooler in the summer, so our electric bill is cheaper. 3) when the shutters are in the closed position, it makes it easier to sleep in on the weekends as it makes the bedroom darker than it was before (with all of the light coming in the the old shades). 4) The shutters look just as beautiful looking at them from the inside of the house as they do looking at them from the outside of the house. We explained what we were trying to accomplish, he took his time to show us different examples and explain the pros and cons to each according to our needs. In the past, I had one encounter years ago with another local Drapery and Blind installation company. This review is a little late in coming, but I just remembered to review as I just redeemed the Starbucks gift card ScotBlinds sent me as a thank-you for being their customer... I went to the Home Show in San Diego at the Convention Center in January 2020 (pre-Covid times, when they had such shows). I was literally MOBBED by nearly every single vendor there - it was definitely a running-the-gauntlet experience and was not pleasant. The only vendor who was not overly aggressive was David at ScotBlinds. I was able to approach his booth on my own and when I did he was friendly and knowledgeable but not in-your-face. He had a variety of different window treatments on display and I got to experiment with how they handle. Then and there, I made an appointment with him to come out to the house for window treatments, as we had just gotten new windows. David helped our family to select the right type of treatment for each window - we went with pleated shades for most, some with the top-down-bottom-up option, some with magnetic clip and some with drawcord (depending on if there's furniture in front of the window), and a couple of the new-style combination roller blinds (these are great!). David also has window shutters and vertical blinds available, as well as Roman shades. Very happy with our choices, and Jerry the installer was very knowledgeable and efficient too. I was really happy with the process of choosing my blinds and with the installation, however the mechanism in one of them broke recently and when I called to ask for help with the issue I was told that the blind could only have failed due to user error and that I would have to find a repair solution on my own. We chose Scotblinds because of the great reviews. Had just purchased a brand new house and needed blinds for 39 windows. Alan came over, did his spiel, and we chose Hunter Douglas Silhouette blinds. The price tag was $31,000.00, very expensive, but we were assured that the end result would be worth it, Hunter Douglas being the industry top choice. We did receive our blinds in a timely fashion (the only positive), however, that's also when all the trouble started. The blinds were incorrectly installed/measured, so there were gaps both on the top and sides of the blinds. The gap above of the blinds was fixed after a couple of weeks. They also remeasured the blinds and tried fixing some of them. The end result - 15 out of 39 blinds are still not completely covering our windows. Scotblinds claims there's nothing they can do. Wished we could've had a 5 star experience. We ordered blinds, shades and a panel track for our entire house back in March. Due to multiple problems due to sizing, color and function they are just now finally resolved almost 7 months later. We had Hunter Douglas blinds in our last house and we contacted Scot Blinds because they said they carried them. During the appointment, samples of different blinds were shown. Scot convinced me the blinds he brought were good quality since they were made here in the US. I believed him and I wished I would've gone with what I initially wanted and the quality I knew. The blinds we have aren't bad but the cord knobs are super cheap looking. The sample doesn't show the cord knobs and was surprised that they weren't even wood. Also there's an extra slab that lays right on top of the bottom rail of each window. I don't know if this is common but thought it was weird for custom blinds. Alan told my husband it was there just in case one slab needed to be repaired. I figured if something needed to be repaired, new blinds would be ordered. Our track panel for our sliding door had to be ordered at least 3 times. Initially the panels had cupping issues and came with a long rod which had to be changed to a pull cord. The rod wasn't functional for my father to use and I felt it was a safety hazard for a child. When I closed the panels a piece of the plastic broke of the track when it had the rod. The second time it was ordered it still came with rod. The third time it came with the correct pull cord but the valance and panels were a different color. The valance then had to be ordered in the correct color. The installer said it was a new brand they were using so I'm not sure about the quality. I'm hoping it lasts. Hopefully if we ever have issues with our blinds in the future, we won't have the same experience. read more
