If you like chicken rice bowl, this is the place to get a nice serving with well cooked chicken…read morethat's tender. The owner is always friendly and nice, and they have a variety of versions. I would say their hainan chicken is probably the best, because you get the simple clean taste of the well cooked chicken that's tender. They even take out most of the bone so makes it easier to eat. The rice is really well seasoned and it's served with broth and two types of dipping sauce (one kind of a soy sauce and another seemed like nuoc nam). The shoyu chicken is also good if you're wanting more savoriness. Because I'm from Hawaii, I was interested in the teriyaki chicken, but I felt the teriyaki sauce was a bit on the wet side, and not as much a glaze like the way I usually find it in Hawaii. It's also the only chicken bowl that has a decent amount of veggies since it comes on a bed of undressed slaw on top of rice. There's also a braised pork belly rice bowl that is tasty and tender, but also very brown (meaning no real veggies on the side). Like I said, I think chicken is the way to go because they really treat the chicken well.

From the second my partner and I walked in at 4:30 PM, we were greeted by a server who made it immediately clear we were bothering them. When seated, I asked for a dinner menu thinking they'd given us a lunch menu by mistake. I was told dinner doesn't start until 5:00 PM (something listed nowhere online, despite their online presence highlighting all their dinner options). And since when does lunch run up until 5pm? The latest I've ever seen is 3 or 4. The final straw was asking about the only vegan option on the menu, which was labeled "spicy." When I asked how spicy it was, the same server gave a completely patronizing response: "I'm not sure your level of spice..." My partner and I looked at each other in shock at how openly rude this person was. We got up, picked up our stuff, and walked out before ordering. I'm 51 years old, and I can count on one hand the number of times in my life I've walked out of a restaurant due to bad service before even getting food. Sadly, this was one of them. The gap between how great this place was portrayed online and how poorly we were treated in person was staggering.

My friend and I wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered the Crispy Potatoes, Silken Ota Tofu, Chicken and Oregon Black Truffle Wontons, Hand-pulled Cabbage, and Ribeye Bulgogi. While this spot was good, I would definitely say that it is more Asian fusion than Chinese. I thought that the crispy potatoes and silken ota tofu were good but there was nothing super special about them. I was really excited about the chicken and Oregon black truffle wontons but was a bit underwhelmed by the lack of truffle flavor in the wontons we got. The bulgogi was pretty good, and I would say that the cabbage was my favorite dish with how prominent the flavors of Sichuan peppercorn and lap cheong were. Overall, not a bad spot for a dinner.

It's unassuming from the outside but the interior feels so fun and quirky yet warm. 10/10 aesthetics. Now let's get down to the food; as always, husband the omnivore got the almond fried chicken and we shared a mix of other things including the crispy potatoes, silken ota tofu, french onion korokke, taishan cauliflower, and the summer chard. I was tempted to try the bokkeum bap aka the vegetarian main but I felt like there was more than enough for me to try from our shared dishes that I opted not to get it. The potatoes totally took us by surprise with how thin, crispy and yummy they were. If you go, you must get the potatoes, trust me. The silken ota tofu was good; nice and mild but could have used a touch more of the sauce. The korokke was surprisingly underwhelming so idk if I'd really get it again but not bad by any means. Just a bit on the blander side in regards to flavor. The veggies were all so so so good and my husband couldn't resist grabbing a cauliflower between all of his bites of almond fried chicken -- which per his review was good af. All in all, this is a super cute spot with a mix of vegetarian and meat options --I would highly recommend trying it if you're in the area!

They have a lot more unique dishes I've never encountered before when comparing to most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. It must be a different region of Vietnamese cuisine which I was really excited to try. Online says they're northern Vietnamese style dishes! I ordered the closest thing I knew to regular beef steak pho because I'm getting over a cold, and got their beef pho. It came with a delicious fried bread stick that the waiter said you dip into the pho broth, and a side of pickled garlic slices and homemade mild chili dipping sauce. The pho noodles are slightly different than your typical skinny flat rice noodles, and the broth was a bit peppery, but not overpowering! It was delightful. The meat in the pho was of excellent quality, I was pleasantly surprised. The location is a quaint cute hole in the wall next to Scotch Lodge, and I appreciated how they designed the interior to replicate being in an authentic northern Vietnam restaurant. I went during lunch time and it was busy, so it must be good. Service was decent, nothing above and beyond, but nothing to steer me away from returning. I'd come back with a few more folks next time so I can try a bunch of dishes instead of just one. My beef pho was $24 - Pricey but I think the quality of the food make it more worth the price tag.
