Finally a place to practice or just enjoy country swing and line dances without alcohol. I had tried places like Denim and Diamonds and while fun on occasion. I wanted somewhere I could regularly go and relax without drinking being involved. Friday and Saturday night are the best times. The dance floor is packed and it is easy to find a male or female partner. They have good ratios. The crowd is on the younger side, think early twenties. I hear it gets even busier in the fall when ASU starts up and there are more college kids. I have enjoyed the line dance teaching including American Kids, Shivers, Four on the Floor and Church Clap so far. The Country swing instruction is clear and helpful. I find most of my partners are brand new beginners but they have the right attitude and we have fun learning the dance of the evening. The lessons start at 8pm. Free dancing usually start at 9pm. They are open late. Early bird tickets online are $10 and include all lessons and free dance. At the door is $12. Wide range of experience levels, lots of beginners but plenty advanced too. Super cool to have a large dance hall just for country dancing. My friend and I decided to check it out since they offer daily dance lessons and we were in the mood to throw on our dancin' boots. Most notable about Scootin Boots is they are alcohol-free... in fact we aren't sure if they sell anything to drink. Which if they don't, they should since it was super hot inside. Maybe we should've stayed longer? They pride themselves on being one of the best places in the Valley to learn country. We kind of doubt that, since for the night we showed up, there was one teacher for 100+ of us. She rushed thru the line dance, she rushed (less) thru the partner dance. Where were other teachers and why was there only one? They could do better if they had a higher-elevated platform and maybe some video screens around the hall to help those who can't see the instructors feet. They should suggest that for those who know what they're doing dance-wise to stand toward the back so beginners can see more. It's affordable admission to try something new, could be more fun, but buyer beware. read more

First time here! I came with my sister for the Friday night lessons. We didn't preorder so we paid our $12/each at the door. We arrived a little bit past 8pm and caught the end of the first line dance. After that, the instructors split us between the two ballrooms - one for beginning swing and one for intermediate swing. My sister and I did not come with anyone but when we went to the intermediate room, there were more guys so we were able to easily find ourselves partners. There were couples or friends who had already grouped up but also plenty of people appeared to have come on their own as well. The lessons were great. The instructors were clear and I thought the pacing of the lesson was well done. After teaching us a sequence of moves the would go on to show us alternative endings or slight changes to the moves which would be helpful for the leads who would want to know how to string together a number of different moves. As a follow, it was also good for me to actually see what the intent of the moves were and to know what specific hand movements were that prompted me to go into a new move. After the lessons, we learned another line dance and then the social dancing started. It was a ratio of about 3-1 swing dancing to line dancing songs. I was in the main room for the night and there were a number of people out dancing on the floor during each song. It definitely is a great place for younger (under 21) dancers to practice but also anyone to do some beginning/intermediate swing. I was asked a few times to dance and it was a good experience. I could tell the guys were practicing the moves they had learned in their lessons and they did well! The line dancing was also great. Not too hard to jump in and try to lean the dance on the fly by basing your steps off of those around you who knew the dance. Overall, a great experience and highly recommend both the lessons and the social dancing! read more

I know of a couple people that have had their car broken into while they were in dance classes. The owner has old pick up trucks blocking all the front parking spots so there's nowhere to park other than far away from the building. He also does not have any cameras overlooking the parking lot. I'd like to start by saying if swing is your thing and you don't have anywhere else to go, this place isn't horrible if you're with your girlfriends or maybe even a boyfriend. But overall they rip you off. It's 12 dollars to get in just for the employees to treat you like trash, roll their eyes at you when you ask them to play songs, and this place is crawling with middle/high schooler's. The vibes simply aren't there, half of everyone there is either sitting or standing talking because the music selection ... sucks. They legit won't play a song because it says the word ass. (that's not why the music selection sucks), it's just a loop of the same 20 songs. There's no real dj, just the people who work there or know ppl that work there add songs to a playlist. Overall not worth it, won't be returning, do better. read more

If you're looking to line dance, not the place at all. In the hour in a half I was there, I line danced 4 times. I don't think it should be advertised as a line dancing bar when it was mainly swing. Scootin' Boots Dance Hall rocks! We came in on a Friday night with no idea what to expect. The online reviews and pics looked good, so we thought ok let's give it a try. There is ample parking and it is decently lit. There was a line out the door and upon review, it was mostly kids and young adults (looked to be high school and millennials). The cashier was kinda friendly and we were really grateful she upsold us a couple of bottle waters. Walking in, the dance hall looks and feels good. They have 2 different dance floors. We scoped everything out before the lessons started. The crowd looked ready to dance and learn. We enjoyed how friendly some of the others where to us as we waited. The 2 ladies that introduced themselves were so friendly and pleasant to learn from. To say we had a good time would be an understatement. We had a blast. The hour lesson went by so fast I literally had to check my watch. I was in total disbelief that time went by that quickly! The lessons were super easy to follow, as they broke down each step into simple step-by-step portions. I'm still saying, "left together, left together, right together". I'm so glad we did this and look forward to doing this We will be back, yee haw! read more

If you are a line dancer do not come here. I'm from california and am under 21 and was looking for a place to line dance at. I can only come on Tuesdays because it's all swing dance songs on Friday and Saturday. And they only play line dances to country songs and don't play any of the fun ones because highschoolers come here. If you are a line dancer like me this is not ur place. read more

My husband and I took our 2 girls here last night for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised how much fun they had. They are 20 and 23. We took the dance lessons before and stayed until the band took their first break. No alcohol served so everyone is there to dance and have a nice time without the worry of drunks. I have been going to Scootin boots to learn line dance for almost a year now. I go to Tuesday class with Leo Pahuriray. Very patient instructor and always has a smile. He reviews dances he taught and make sure that the dance steps retain. He also informs what other songs one can dance with what he taught and not just the song that the choreographer used. Huge dance floor and bumping into someone will not be an issue. Vicki who teaches beginner is an awesome instructor and would dance and call out the steps during open dance. Matt is also an awesome instructor. I was able to attend one of his class during the once a month workshop. They have a 4 hour workshop every first Saturday of the month with lessons from beginner to intermediate line dance steps. Entrance is minimal for the regular class and very affordable for the once a month teach. read more

This really is the best place to dance in the east valley! I have been dancing here for over a year. The instructors are fantastic, down to earth and accomplished. The crowd is all ages. The people are friendly. We learn from each other, bring our own swagger and have time for open dance so we can practice what we have been taught. I absolutely love scootin boots! It is always a super fun clean friendly environment! Everyone who goes is extremely nice and very helpful. Also the instructors Ryan Johnson and Richie Skousen are very good as well. Ryan is my country swing instructor who has helped me become more confident over time with my dips and turns. He is also extremely patient and teaches very well to any skill level. Richie is the beginner country swing instructor at scootin boots right now and has tons of rhythm and is also always willing to help whenever needed. They both also do west coast dancing. Ryan and Richie teach private lessons at a very reasonable rate. If you want to get better id recommend privates with them but if you can't spend too much money, come to the dance hall for only 10$ Monday through Saturday that includes the lesson at 8p to 9p plus social dancing 9p to 12mn. You won't regret it. Its tons and tons of fun! Also, the owner Matt is very nice and dances well but due to covid isn't there much but when he is be sure to dance with him and say hi! He's the best!
