Service was also slow, especially considering we only ordered a simple breakfast. The highlight of the visit was definitely the atmosphere. Sitting outside and watching the planes take off and land made for a unique and enjoyable experience. Overall, if you're already in the area or enjoy watching airplanes, it's worth stopping by for the view. However, I wouldn't recommend making a special trip just for the food, as there are better breakfast options elsewhere.

Food, good. Ambiance, nice. Service, lacking but coming along…read more I've driven by here so many times and always wanted to try it, and today I finally did. It was fine. I got there before 10:00, which is when breakfast stops being served. However, by the time the server finally acknowledged me, it was after 10:00 and she said it was the lunch menu now. Really? After she kept me waiting so long it missed out?!?!? Thankfully there was another person there who said I could order breakfast. The food came in a to go container, not sure why, and when they asked if I wanted it to go, and I said no, they took it back to the kitchen where it felt like they just dumped it onto a plate and brought it back out. Interesting. After listening to the conversation going on, apparently the owners had fired everyone and brought in an all new crew. I had the second person she my server was brand new, so that might account for some of the concerns I had. If I go back, it won't be for a few months to let everyone get their legs under them and maybe things will change?

This time I had the super eight, two eggs, two different meats, and two pancakes. While it was delicious out, the rest of it I'm having concerns with.

The food all came out about the same time and in a timely manner. Service was also good. Breakfast foods are generally pretty basic, thus the 3 stars (acceptable with no issues). Just want to start by saying, this First Watch in Winter Haven Florida has the best coffee I have…read moreever had at a First Watch. The very best coffee! We went on the site ahead of time and our wait list wait was less than what they estimated. I felt like that was a win. Also, our server was both attentive and pleasant and they were super slammed this Father's Day morning. And I need to back track just a little, because that first cup was really good and then they brought out a new pot of the First Watch dishwasher coffee that I have grown accustomed to. So there is that. We ordered two has meals. I got the summer special hash which had a Mexican inspired theme. The flavors were great, especially the queso. The meal was a tad above room temperature which had me thinking it had been sitting. Especially because the over easy eggs were luke warm. The other hash was about the same. Overall the food was not so good, especially for the price. But it was edible and I finished mine and it filled me so mission accomplished. Honestly though no where near amazing and other than it's uniqueness, a visit to Denny's or IHOP would have done just as good and for about a little over half the price. Still though our server was Dynamite and if it weren't for her I would be giving two stars instead of three. If the coffee didn't revert back to its weak state, it might have almost pushed it over 3 starts. Alas, here is where we are.

How many different diners can I try for breakfast in Florida? Ten? Twenty-five? Fifty? I'll bet I'm…read moreheading towards fifty! These fine folks are 35 miles from my casa and off the beaten track for me. I was in the area for another reason, and they were calling me. Arriving- their address is 5th Street but think Route 17. The parking lot is fine and there are some solid handicapped spots. Ambience- You enter through the outside patio. It's very nice and shaded but you're still going to be eating with cars whizzing by. That's never been an attraction for me. Inside has got a 50s vibe. Everything is spotless. You see the buffet almost immediately. There is a semi-open kitchen in that you can see part of it from some seats. The menus are laminated to the tables. The men's bathroom was spotless. Customer Service- Maybe 8 stars! Just awesome! My drink arrived within seconds of sitting down. My order was taken within seconds of when I was ready. I was checked on appropriately. My bill was on the table, and you pay the cashier when you leave. Nothing but good stuff to say. Food- Standard American menu with no big surprises. When I try a new place for breakfast, I always get an omelet. This time it was a Meatlovers with potatoes and a biscuit @ $11.99. The omelet was 4 eggs which is a little unusual. I was asked if I wanted my home fries cooked on the grill or deep-fried. That was something new! I choose deep fried. Everything was out quickly. My biscuit (not pictured) was warm and soft. My omelet was just fine. An average amount of meat and cheese and cooked nicely. It didn't seem like a four-egg omelet. Just the usual three. I could get this omelet anywhere and that's not necessarily a bad thing. OMG the deep-fried home fries! Did you see my picture? These are not from a bag but homemade. They were piping hot and just damn amazing! I never had anything like them, and they'll be in my dreams tonight. So, my breakfast with excellent service was easily a four-star experience. I can't speak to their lunch. Their average on Yelp is 4.3 which I think is justified. Give them a try!

We started with the pretzel appetizer, which was hot and crispy on the outside while staying pillowy soft on the inside. The wasabi mustard is a game changer and easily the standout accompaniment. The queso is your standard yellow queso, similar to classic nacho cheese. We tried the Kingpin Brisket Sandwich with barbecue sauce on the side. The brisket is finely chopped but could benefit from more seasoning on its own rather than relying on BBQ sauce to carry the flavor. The pineapple slaw and onion straws add nice texture and layers of flavor, which makes you hope to see improved brisket quality in the future. The Philly was ordered to-go, and the portion size felt small for the $16 price point. The steak again lacked seasoning, though the bread was toasted nicely. It comes with peppers, onions, and mushrooms; I opted out of peppers and didn't really notice any mushroom flavor coming through. Overall, the menu has a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, and wings, but I'd like to see improvements in seasoning, protein quality, and overall consistency. On a positive note, the server was very friendly and efficient, and the pickup process was smooth. Looking forward to trying additional offerings in the future and hoping to see some quality improvements across the menu.
