I bought an 07 Jonway scooter from a friend & it needed a little work so I took it to Scooter World, they got it up & running in no time, & I was able to sell it for a few hundred dollars profit. Later, I bought a 04 Honda Reflex but took it to my local Honda dealer for repair because it was their scooter. Well, they misdiagnosed the problem, charged me for it, & my scooter still wasn't running right. Frustrated, I took it to Scooter World & they told me the engine was bad, among other things. I found a new motor & they did the repairs handily & timely. Upon picking up the Honda, their mechanic accidentally broke my luggage rack while loading it onto my truck. The owner quickly said they would pay for a replacement. I did some searching & finally found one in France, from a 07 Jonway, ironically. I bought the part & took the invoice to Scooter World for payment, about a month later. They were true to their word & reimbursed me in "cash" for the part without question. They have competent service personnel who know what they're doing & keep you informed on the repair work your bike will need. My local Honda dealer is 7 miles from my house but I have no problem driving the 25 miles to Scooter World, they have proven themselves to me. read more

First of all NIU scooters are junk. So don't buy one. Second, I would stay away from the play as they don't stand behind the warranty and they don't know how to fix the scooters either. read more

Out of the 2 experiences I've had at scooter world i am beyond disappointed. Once in person i got there about 15 min before closing. Only had a couple questions but felt as i was a inconvenience to them and they didn't listen to anything i was asking and i left with no answers. Today i simply call about getting a couple parts for my scooter and the lady said i had to bring the scooter in. I have no means to transport my scooter as it's currently inoperable, she asked me if she could call me back in a few minutes, hours went by and never did call me back. Far and away the best scooter shop in Kansas City, Scooter World has been around for at least 7 seasons now, proving they've got the longevity and experience to weather the ups and downs of the fickle scooter market. A good service department that knows the answers to most of your questions, a great selection of Genuine, Kymco, and Sym scooters, and an easily accessible location make Scooter World a winner. Where they need improvement is on their selection of accessories, i.e. helmets, gloves, and jackets. Their sales force can also be a bit surly at times, and aren't very conducive to hanging out and just shooting the breeze. I realize they're busy and have to make every dollar count, but I think they'd have more repeat business and casual shoppers if they provided a better atmosphere. That said, they're still way better than the (very) overpriced Vespa dealerships in town. Where the Vespa dealership seem to be geared towards the casual, well-off rider, Scooter World is home base for all of us who use their scooter as a utilitarian, daily rider and way of life, not a weekend warrior when it's 70 and sunny out. Oh, and the owner is very supportive of the local scooter scene, even heavily participating himself. Gotta love that. read more

I did the math and realized my daughter's income from her high school job divided by the outrageous price of gas left her very little money to spend. I had a moped when I was a kid, so I thought a scooter would not only be an unexpected birthday present, but might also improve her gasoline price-to-income ratio. The guys (if girls work there, I've never seen them) at Scooter World are very helpful. They can fill you in on the details of the scooter you like and advise you on which ones require a motorcycle license to operate. The store has a few used models for sale too, so it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg to put yourself on two wheels. You can save them to pay for everything else that's going up along with the price of oil. read more

If you want totally ripped off, this is the place for you! My 50cc upgrade to 70cc ended up being 1085.00 for a bike I still can't ride. They had it for 5 weeks and I paid cash with no receipt. Didn't make it a day without breaking down. 2 more times in with no better results. The mechanic won't answer calls or texts. Is it sexual harassment to write a good review based on an attractive salesman - or is it just one-track minded of me?.....Hm.In all seriousness (well, sort of) - Scooter World might just be the world of the future with sky high gas prices on the horizon (it's been proven that the market is trailing behind gas - so when it catches up, be prepared to pump $4 a gallon again). The attractive salesman, we'll call him Jake, told me that many of their scooters get more than 100 miles per gallon - this summer, they were selling "like hotcakes," that is - according to Jake. Keep in mind that on average, most American drivers get around 22 miles per gallon - am I convincing you you yet?It was enough to get me thinking - I'm on the verge of buying a new car. It looks like any car these days is some kind of money pit with gas taking up every spare bill left in a wallet. Why not opt for change? Here's why I talked myself out of it at least: no heater, I live in the Midwest, not California - I would be riding through snow and ice on many days. Also - besides myself, who and what else could I lug around? And also something to consider: if I have to show up somewhere in a business suit - like hell will I ride up all disheveled and smelling of sweat! These are all good reasons to not chose the scooter world. But - they make them for women, smaller and in Easter egg colors. I'll admit - I was drawn to them. A lot of women aren't into machinery like some men are - but if you paint the machinery turquoise, I guarantee we'll take a second look - it's in our DNA (almost Darwinian - I would say, like how female birds are attracted to the brightest-feathered males.)For all of their clients (those who ride in the scooter world) they offer routine maintenance and warranty work on site AND they sell scores of accessories for the serious riders. I told Jake I'd think about it - they do cost nothing compared to cars. If I were moving to California, maybe - but I can't put a price on a seat warmers, a roaring heater and defrost in freezing climates between late November and early March in Kansas City. These guys will helped me out, even at their own expense. They were nice enough to check and diagnose my inferior (compared to the scooters they carry) Flyscooter which I bought from Eric at Point Loma Scooters in San Diego, CA. I don't know if they figured I was ripped off enough (which I was by once again Eric at Point Loma Scooters)...sorry I digress. Anyway they did this for me at no charge and told me I could even have Eric contact them with any questions regarding the prognosis. Had my scooter serviced last year, service was terrible, the mechanic was swamped with 20 other scooters, took them 3 weeks to do a simple carb clean, I was told my scooter was ready for pickup, when I showed up they were still working on it, gas was leaking out the carb, was told that they would order a part online and fix my carb, a year later never heard anything back. Take my advice and avoid scooter world, there's way better options. read more
