I stopped in to check it out while waiting for our dinner reservation to open. I was a bit surprised at the somewhat reasonable price for what you get. The 'man behind the counter - scooper' was super friendly as it wasn't too busy. I ended up getting a two flavor choice of mint chocolate chip and salted caramel chocolate: definitely gourmet ice cream with not much air mixed in. I have been to this little plaza before.  I visited Howlin' Rays and had the best chicken and waffles ever.  I have not returned as it has an hour or more wait for food.  Now I'm here for ice cream.  Scoops didn't have a line when I visited around 4pm on Saturday. One of the friendly owners was working and told us about the ice cream. Earl grey ice cream had a rich creamy texture. Flavor was a mix of sweet cream and earl grey tea.  Unique and delicious.  :-) Scoops has some great tasting ice cream and a very friendly and informative owner.  I brought home 2 pints.  Next time I'll have to get 4. On past road trips I'd get 12 half gallons of ice cream and fill up my 70qt Yeti. Lately I've been buying more expensive ice cream which is sold in pints.  I can't afford to fill up my Yeti when pints are selling for around $15 each so I bought a 28 Can Everyday Cooler by RTIC which I place inside the Yeti. When I go on out of town trips I'll bring 6 Cooler Shock packs to build a cube inside the RTIC cooler.  I've tested this setup and it has kept my ice cream frozen for 10 hours. read more

This is the best ice cream shop in LA. The flavors are creative and accessible. My 6 year old son who is a picky eater feels excited about a salted tahini chocolate, or a strawberry balsamic vinegar. There's also usually something very classic but still unique, like a cotton candy, or a rocky road with some kind of twist. Furthermore, The prices are so reasonable and considerate of little ones, that it is hard to pass up every ti I walk by. They make available very small scoops for very reasonable prices which are great for little kids, and adult adults just looking for a small treat. I feel so grateful for this Neighborhood shop. Apparently Scoops has been here for 11 years and I've only just gotten around to trying them. I went on Saturday afternoon right before the Chinatown parade started. The staff were very nice and let us try a lot of flavors. I wanted to try all of them since they're very unique and I had never been before, but I felt bad getting so many samples. They said that flavors are constantly changing, even daily. The ice creams were very light and not too sweet! They have some benches and seats inside, which is nice since it can get very busy outside due to the Howlin Rays crowd. The most important thing to note about this place is just how wonderful the Sea Salt Chocolate ice cream is quite as it is quite literally the best invention to have salt in it, and while I was told that there are different flavors every week, I have hope it will come back some day soon. This place has such a variety of delicious and unique flavors, made, from what I was told, by a man who has been doing it for a long time. Scored street parking with money left in the meter and walked half a black to the Far East Plaza between Hill and Broadway. Access available on both streets. We stopped in for a quick dessert for the girls. The shop is small and quaint. As part of the shopping center, there's not much space to sit inside, which isn't really a problem as it's easy enough to find a spot outside or to walk and eat. We were served quickly and with a smile. Oh, and no complaints about the ice cream either! It was a nice little pick-me-up. Nice, friendly staff! Wish we got his name. My partner and I tried the pistachio with fig jam & olive oil w/ rosemary & sea salt ice cream. Don't knock the latter til you try it. We were so pleasantly surprised with the samples we opted for a large even though we only meant for a small after a super filling lunch at noodle shop next door. This place was very unassuming, but a wonderful surprise. They mix up their flavors, I forget how often, but we were so glad we came in today because the pistachio was just that good. I used to get Scoops every week when I lived in DTLA, and I'm just so thankful that they're still open right now (Boo Covid). Now I just get it whenever I pickup takeout from Lasa. They change their flavors regularly, so normally I'll order the Biaco Bread and something else. It's been pretty easy to find street parking on Hill lately but there's also parking underneath. This Scoops is located in Chinatown's Far East Plaza near to a collection of various restaurants, so this can be a great post-lunch or post-dinner dessert option. During COVID-19 times, you order right at the entry (where you pay at a table set up at front), and the employee brings your order to you. I tried the Bianco Bread, which is similar to Brown Bread offered at other Scoops locations with an addition of mascarpone. I paired it with a rum raisin ice cream that included almond and nutmeg, and both ice cream flavors were fantastic.
