With three locations in the Los Angeles area (including this one in Chinatown), Scoops ice cream was founded in 2005 with the original location (since closed) in East Hollywood. I stopped in to check it out while waiting for our dinner reservation to open. I was a bit surprised at the somewhat reasonable price for what you get. The 'man behind the counter - scooper' was super friendly as it wasn't too busy. I ended up getting a two flavor choice of mint chocolate chip and salted caramel chocolate: definitely gourmet ice cream with not much air mixed in. And for where we were, considered it to be a very good value at $4.99.

Ordered a small bianco bread scoop and it was quite delicious. I love the quick service and cute ice cream shop feel. A big fan of their unique flavors and that there's always something new for me to try!

This is a small! You get two flavors! It's so low priced AND DELICIOUS

Best ice cream experience and service that I've had IN YEARS. If ever. Delicious! SO INEXPENSIVE I thought I was charged incorrectly! I got TWO FLAVORS all hand made and unique! Strawberry goat cheese and a lavender honey.... SO SO SO SO GOOD! This place will be my go to

I have been to this little plaza before.  I visited Howlin' Rays and had the best chicken and waffles ever.  I have not returned as it has an hour or more wait for food.  Now I'm here for ice cream.  Scoops didn't have a line when I visited around 4pm on Saturday. One of the friendly owners was working and told us about the ice cream. Earl grey ice cream had a rich creamy texture. Flavor was a mix of sweet cream and earl grey tea.  Unique and delicious.  :-) Scoops has some great tasting ice cream and a very friendly and informative owner.  I brought home 2 pints.  Next time I'll have to get 4. On past road trips I'd get 12 half gallons of ice cream and fill up my 70qt Yeti. Lately I've been buying more expensive ice cream which is sold in pints.  I can't afford to fill up my Yeti when pints are selling for around $15 each so I bought a 28 Can Everyday Cooler by RTIC which I place inside the Yeti. When I go on out of town trips I'll bring 6 Cooler Shock packs to build a cube inside the RTIC cooler.  I've tested this setup and it has kept my ice cream frozen for 10 hours.

Very friendly service. You can try as many flavors as you want. The ice cream was good, but the flavors felt a bit too subtle. While the choices, like Jasmine Pomegranate and Lavender Tea, were intriguing, they didn't have the depth I was hoping for. By the time I dug into both creamy ones, the flavor distinction between them was almost indistinguishable. I just wished the flavors had more intensity. The Yuzu sorbet ended up as my favorite. Small store with two small seating space inside.

The unique thing about Scoops is that their flavors change on nearly a daily basis. In my visit, flavors included Maple Kit Kat, Coffee Mandan, and Vanilla M&M, among over a dozen different choices. My milkshake was delicious and the service was great.

Scoops is this really awesome ice cream shop across from howlin rays. The outside looks really cool.So once you eat some awesome hot chicken you can follow it up with so delicious ice cream. The people inside were really nice and kind and let you try samples to know what you like. I don't know if there flavors change weekly but I tried Oreo Cookie Dough. And it was delicious. The cookie dough blended so perfectly with Oreo to create a whole new flavor. It was so good and I would definitely eat it again.

Apparently Scoops has been here for 11 years and I've only just gotten around to trying them. I went on Saturday afternoon right before the Chinatown parade started. The staff were very nice and let us try a lot of flavors. I wanted to try all of them since they're very unique and I had never been before, but I felt bad getting so many samples. They said that flavors are constantly changing, even daily. The ice creams were very light and not too sweet! They have some benches and seats inside, which is nice since it can get very busy outside due to the Howlin Rays crowd. I would go again to try their other flavors, and especially because they are so affordable.

    Surprisingly not bad

Love ice cream places with different flavors. Got the taro Oreo, pistachio orange blossom, and apple cheddar cinnamon sugar. I think the pistachio needed more flavor but the other two were great. Thou are able to have samples.

The gentleman at the counter was so sweet and nice. I got one scoop of ricotta-mint chip and one scoop of matcha - and the total was around $4! Affordable and tasty. I will return.

Came in looking for a little treat for the little one, left with a sorbet for her and saw such interesting flavors that I couldn't help but try some myself. I got the nigori sake cream and burnt sugar with another scoop of black sesame. The burnt sugar was a nice texture and the bits of black sesame was a nice crunch. I think the owner was the one who helped us and he was so nice! It was rather quiet.

The server had time to share their top picks with us when we went, which were the Sweetie, the Dear Chocolate and Honey Affogato. Our group got all three to try. Honey Affogato: 4/5 I usually go for items with caffeine and I wanted to like it more than I actually did. It was cold and refreshing at first but the coffee tasted a little too bitter towards the bottom of the cup. Dear Chocolate: 5/5 No notes other than, it was perfection. My friend mixed the chocolate well with the soft serve, and she liked the consistency and texture. It wasn't too sweet for her either. She also did not add the sea salt Sweetie: 5/5 The honeycomb "chunk" is chewy and had a more natural taste to it, if that is what you're into! Combined with the lightness of the soft serve, the Sweetie is a solid choice for the people who are looking for sweets that are not too sweet. Overall, this is a great spot for a sweet treat. The area did get a slight upgrade from what I heard - they have a photo booth and the walls look like they've been painted over for a more vibrant yellow. They also sell merch of Honeymee tumblrs, mugs, and of course, local honey jars! Parking is challenging because this location is smack dab in the heart of Little Tokyo Village!
