I finally made it to Scoops & wasn't disappointed. When I first walked by it was packed, so I ordered food & it had cleared out. It is a clean, bright little shop. I was greeted right away with a warm smile & asked if I wanted any samples. I inquired about dAiry free options & the young girl pointed out the Vegan flavors on the chalkboard menu. They had about 5 different vegan flavors. I decided on a cinnamon raspberry jam flavor that was creamy. I have to say I am not always adventurous when it comes to ice cream & stick to chocolate most of the time. I actually liked this flavor the more bites I took. The vegan ice cream is made out of coconut & cashew milk. I have never had such tasty dairy free ice cream. They had a variety of flavors to choose from of ice cream as well. The classic chocolate, vanilla & strawberry. Plus other unique flavors. When you check in on yelp you get a free waffle cone. The waffle cone had a nice crunch & held the ice cream very well. It had a nice sweet flavor that I really enjoyed. I would definitely get it again. I would love to try the crepes. Also the lavender tea caught my eye. I will definitely go back. Inside had high stools to sit on. Outside there was ample seating. There is free water & a bathroom. Street parking can be tricky in this area, especially in the summer. If you are an ice cream lover give Scoops a try. read more

Excellent service and impressive, unique flavors (I'm lookin' at you, vegan Toasted Coconut Blondie), but the ice cream itself was only so-so. We tried PB Marshmallow Crunch and Honeycomb, and while both were okay, they just weren't exceptional, and at La Jolla Shores prices (around $6 for a single scoop), your treats should wow you! Scoops is extremely dog friendly and even has two doggie ice cream flavors. Definite A+ for that. Overall, you have several choices in this area for ice cream, and I think there are better in terms of the treat itself. read more

Small ice cream shop walking distance from the beach! They give out samples of the ice cream flavors you'd like to taste, pretty sweet. Pricing was great, not too expensive. I had their honeycomb flavor & it was delicious. Super creamy & just enough sweetness! Nice spot to go to during the Summer Months & you just want to enjoy a scoop of ice cream! read more

I had been wanting to try "Scoops" La Jolla for almost a year! I finally did a day trip in La Jolla and I loved Scoops so much! Scoops is a cute little gourmet ice cream shop. The ice cream is delicious and packed with flavor. I ordered a double scoop of vegan chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter chocolate chip! It was creamy even without the milk base. I could taste the coconut base which seemed to enhance all of the flavors! I would recommend stopping here for a sweet treat! read more

My favorite ice cream place ever :) they have the most unique flavors (early grey, strawberry crumble, etc) & great nondairy options for vegans as well. You can also sample as much ice cream as you want & they don't question it twice. Lovely staff & location, just be cognizant about parking availability! read more

We stumbled onto Scoops while in La Jolla for a kayak tour. Just about the best ice cream we've ever tasted! Fresh made waffle cones, simple natural ingredients, this is how all ice cream should taste. I was planning on getting a vanilla shake, but after sampling the vegan mint chip I was hooked. So delicious and creamy - can't believe it's vegan! My daughter got the regular mint chip and they tasted so similar. Will be our go-to place for ice cream when visiting San Diego. read more

Stumbled across this ice cream shop as were walking around La Jolla Shores. 3 blocks from the shores and with limited street parking, this place is worth the visit. Pretty store, very clean, they have high top seating inside and outdoor tables and chairs also. You're able to sample as much as you want and they have a great selection to order from. Charming and quaint ice cream shop with vegan options located just blocks from the beach and around the corner from Hotel La Jolla. My kids loved it, fresh waffle cones with $1 off when you check in, and fresh crepes too! Their ice cream was soo creamy and crepes were amazing made right in the window! We had strawberry, banana and Nutella crepes and they were delish. Will definitely come back when I am in La Jolla! read more

Scoops is a nice little hole in the wall coffee shop that has a wide variety of ice cream flavors (including vegan, if that's your style) and a small coffee selection. You can get your ice cream with a crepe, waffle or sugar cones, or in a cup. They have some unique flavors of ice cream along with more of your traditional flavors, but it's nothing too crazy. The servers were nice and friendly, accommodating your sampling requests with a great smile. You'll see a decent wait on a warm day, but it's definitely a good way to cool off from the summer heat right off the beach. read more

We love ice cream. I could probably eat it every night. Especially if it was coming from Spoons. It's a small shop but has lots of outdoor sweating. The shop itself is clean, well maintained and has a fun aesthetic. We tried the hazelnut fudge, honeycomb, and salted caramel. Hazelnut fudge was our favorite, but they were all good. The waffle cones are delicious, one of the best I've tasted and sooooo fresh. read more

This may seriously be some of the best ice cream I have ever had. I decided on a single scoop of the peanut butter marshmallow candy (it was called something like that). The single scoop was large and tasted home made, OMG DELICIOUS. The service was great, the employee was super friendly, answered my questions and offered me several samples. The issue with this place is the parking situation. We came on a Saturday night before heading to our hotel and almost left due to not being able to find parking. Our last go-around we found a spot thankfully and of course the trouble was totally worth it. Overall I definitely recommend Scoops La Jolla! read more

If I could, I would give this place 100 stars. It's the best place for ice cream, relaxing and taking a stroll by the beach while you're at it. Parking is on the street outside or in the near by streets as well. Someone else got the cold brew shake that has vanilla ice cream and cold brew coffee and it looked really good - I think I might get that next time. My son and I came here for a mommy and son day. We got cones - vanilla/ pumpkin cheesecake and I got pistachio. This is a great place to visit if you have friends that are out of town and visiting because it's right by the beach and not too crowded. read more

WOW. So I've been a frequent visitor of Salt'n'Straw in Oregon since grad school... and this is the only ice cream I've had in California that has made me do a double take in terms of quality. LET ME TELL YOU. Scoops La Jolla ice cream is SUPER creamy! UGH. Most ice cream I prefer on the firm side because the texture gets super slushy when it melts. BUT... this ice cream was just a good melted as it was solid! All the flavors were pretty standard for a specialty ice cream shop, but really what sold me on Scoops La Jolla was their QUALITY. The next time I head back to the SD area, I will for sure be stopping by Scoops! read more

I wanted to love this place because it's local and cute. I worked at a family owned ice cream shop as a teenager and love ice cream. I chose mint chocolate chip - it's my go to flavor, but the chocolate was waxy and the mint flavor reminded me of cleaning solution. The 4 of us all got different flavors, but none of us really loved it. The staff was friendly but the ice cream was not very good. read more

Thought I'd get a Nice, thick, shake but i was able to sip it like a soft drink, and being so liquidy it went down so fast with the huge straw they provided. The team member who took my order didn't bother to ask anyone if they had mocha, the flavor I asked for, which I found out they did as I left. But the flavor was good. read more

This place is good. We orders the black cherry chip ice cream and a strawberry banana Nutella crepe. The only thing is that the crepe was very heavy on the Nutella. The first bite literally oozed out of my mouth. Maybe if you order and are not a gigantic Nutella fanatic ask for wash Nutella. It was insane. read more

On a hot day, I took my new visitor friend from Australia here. We both liked it. We both got a cold coffee drink. However, I went all out and got the 'Cold Brew Shake' and it was delicious! I can't really speak to how "authentic" it is, but I can say it's definitely worth visiting at least once, especially if you're a local.

To note, the coffee itself is just okay, and unfortunately the almond croissant wasn't very good when I tried it. That said, the atmosphere is really what makes this place worth visiting. The staff is also pretty nice and welcoming. Overall, come for the great study spot more than the food or coffee.

After being a regular at Parakeet for the last 6 years, I felt inclined to finally write a review, based purely on appreciation for the all-star team at this location (Kayla, Janelle, Neda, Hailey, Regina, Michelle, Calvin, and all the cooks crushing it in the kitchen daily) and everything they bring to the community. BIG VIBES & Customer Experience Biggest one on the checklist. The energy is always on point from the second I walk in to the second I leave. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming, authentic, and genuinely cares about making the experience top-tier. Also worth noting, they're up at 5 AM to open at 7 AM... which is already heroic. On top of that, this location gets its fair share of entitled, unfriendly, and straight-up rude customers (I've seen it firsthand on the daily). Even then, the ladies and Calvin handle it with patience, professionalism, and still keep the good energy going. That shit is not easy. Attention to Detail Regina and Hailey run a tight operation day to day. Their attention to detail and consistency is honestly unmatched. I've been to plenty of spots around the neighborhood, and no one has it as dialed in as they do. They are also better dressed than other managers in the biz. BIG STYLE POINTS Problem Solving I've watched this team navigate everything--broken equipment, unhappy customers, clogged toilets (lol), bad weather, and difficult delivery drivers yelling at them through Google Translate. And they handle it all without missing a beat and staying composed. Meanwhile, I've seen other places completely implode in similar situations--blaming each other or arguing instead of solving the problem. Not the case here. Always solution-oriented. Extra props to Janelle for unclogging the toilet and Kayla for chasing a grasshopper out the door when it jumped on a table. Yessahhh Consistency Food and drinks are always consistent--fresh, well-seasoned, proper temp, and clean presentation. The cooks are back there working hard but still somehow having a good time while pushing out orders for both dine-in and delivery. The girls and Calvin on bar are always crushing it. Espresso is never burnt, matcha is smooth (no clumpy, low-tier stuff), and the latte art is always on point. Shoutout to Neda, Hailey, Regina, and Calvin for keeping things fast and high quality. Cleanliness Everything is always clean, smells good, and actually put away where it belongs. No shakshuka stains on tables, no scone crumbs everywhere, no sticky coffee floors, no overflowing trash cans--things that, somehow, have become the norm at other nearby spots. All in all, I never leave reviews, so the fact that I'm writing this says something lol. Service was fast & friendly and the price for the medium smoothie was very reasonable! A few of the kids who were with me were disappointed because they ran out of cinnamon rolls, but otherwise, they were happy with our little snacky stop. Plenty of outdoor seating as always. Street parking. Peace.

The Green Mango power smoothie tasted really fresh, but came out room temperature. I totally get that the fruit and greens might be fresh, never frozen (great in theory). However, I would at least expect the homemade mango juice to be chilled and/or ice to be added to make the drink a little cool at $10. We still LOVED the energy booster. It leans heavier on peanut butter flavor than chocolate or espresso, but it's fantastic, filling, and, of course, refreshing thanks to the ~chilled~ almond milk. Love the quality overall, even though it might not be my go-to when the heat is killer!

I specifically wanted to try their Ube pancakes. The pancake was good! However the Ube flavor is not strong but if you just love a good pancake then you'll like it for sure. The downside is because there's so many people there is not enough seats. So I asked for my food Togo in case a seat didn't open up. In summary, it's a cute little cafe, try to come here during off peak hours for a more calm vibe but even if you come the wait isn't super long.

My daughter picked up the food me drinks she ordered for us and the girl at the counter was clearly annoyed she worked there. Ignored her. She should be retrained or put in the back. Nevermind ignoring the customer but didn't even finish giving the order. No drinks. My daughter had to ask a manager for the drinks. Comes to the car as we drive off I open the bag and items are missing. I guess no one checks orders. Had to double park. I called and warned the cafe she was upset. They gave her the one missing item and they ran out of croissants. Mind you it's what I wanted. They gave her an extra Oreo cronut. This was the worst experience. I do not recommend this establishment

However, for a place that lists free Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi did not work. Also, I couldn't even get my data to work so I couldn't open up a hotspot. The same thing happened to my friend, so it wasn't just me.
