This was my first time visiting scoops, & I was very excited as my friend had visited the location on Catalina Island & said it was amazing. There are lots of flavors to choose from when it comes down to the ice cream, & they have a lot of fun options like sundaes as well. We ended up getting a flight & I got a Nutella crepe, that I unfortunately didn't take a picture of, but it was good! The girls in there were very nice & even encouraged us to sample some of the ice cream! They have a cute little patio outside & indoor seating as well. The only thing is that trying to find parking was a little tough. We had to go around the block 2 times & this was on a Wednesday night. Really great to see an ice cream shop open up on this little stretch. So badly needed with the beach just a 2 min walk away. We've been in town for 5 days and have visited Scoops 4 times now ( would have been 6 but we only discovered it after the first day!). Great ice cream and super friendly service. I think my kids have ordered or at least tasted every flavor. Definitely a must if you are in La Jolla Shores for the day. Went back for the 5th time today. Really cute place with unique flavors! I'm not vegan but the vegan cookies and cream with caramel was so delicious. Their flavors are super creamy and we really enjoyed everything we got. I'm not sure what type of cone they use but it's absolutely delicious. I think if they changed their ice cream flight to something bigger that resembles sand buckets and pails it would be even better! But we're excited to go back and try their peanut butter cup crepe. So, I ate my ice cream too fast to take a picture. But oh. em. gee. It is sooo difficult to find tasty vegan ice cream, but they have definitely won my heart! I sampled the vegan honeycomb, which tasted more like caramel, but still very yummy. I also sampled the vegan cookie dough, and it reminded me of an ice cream shop back in the northeast, Friendly's. Took me back to my childhood. I then sampled and finally went with the vegan PB&J, and it tastes exactly like it sounds. What's amazing about this place is that the ice cream is very creamy, and doesn't have that chalky, icy taste that a lot of vegan ice cream tends to have, nor did it have notes of coconut (which most of them do). Even though it's been a few years, I honestly don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between this ice cream and dairy ice cream. I'm not sure how many dairy flavors they have, but I counted roughly about 11 vegan flavors. That is absolutely amazing, considering you're lucky if other ice cream shops have one or two. Service was decent - our server was cordial. They've just opened, so it was pretty packed, and it's a fairly small shop. I didn't feel rushed, even though I wanted to try more than one flavor, and he was very helpful. It is a little pricey, with one scoop being around $5.50 (there's an up-charge for vegan flavors), and an extra $1 if you want a cone. For a family of four, an ice cream trip that costs $25 (including tip) is a treat, not a norm, even for La Jolla. I was so excited to see this little shop open up! I gave the ice cream a try and WOO! This isn't your average Thrifty's folks! I had a waffle cone with a scoop of their vegan (they have a BUNCH of vegan flavors) peanut butter and jelly ice cream flavor and was floored with how much I liked it- I honestly didn't even realize it was a vegan flavor until one of the staff told me! The first time was one flavor that had a weird after taste but was decent. I won't order that flavor again as it was okay. About a week or 2 weeks latter, I order two other vegan flavors. As I am eating each flavor, I am thinking do I really want finish this as it bad, but I spend a lot on it. After finish the flavors, I had to go rise my mouth out to get the bad test out. I chose pistachio, salted caramel, honey comb, and earl grey. My favorite out of them all is honey comb!! It's creamy, perfect amount of sweetness and not too overwhelming, and it's just plain ol' yummy. Of course the flight of ice cream made a great picturesque opportunity hehe. Cute new local ice cream shop that just opened on La Jolla Shores. I had the vegan planet earth and vegan chocolate in a waffle cone. I sampled most of their vegan flavors, and they were all delicious! Creamy, smooth, and not too sweet. The location is perfect too since you can enjoy a nice dinner at he surrounding Italian restaurants or Galaxy taco and then get your ice cream fix at scoops. You can also walk to the beach from scoops with your ice cream in hand! I asked the girls working there if this was the same as Scoops in LA. It is not! This is a local San Diego ice cream shop. We tried the Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip (vegan), Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (vegan), Mocha Latte (vegan), and Planet Earth (vegan). They were all really sweet and creamy, perfect for the summer ice cream cravings. Of all the flavors, my favorite was the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and my least favorite was the Planet Earth.
