Presented by the owner of Whisk bakery, this lovely ice cream shop at the Fan opened today for the general public, a little earlier for those who signed up for monthly pint club. Their signature flavors include coffee, confetti, brown sugar cookie dough and salty peanut butter, and croissants and jam (good flavors but croissant chunks were a bit too big/dense). They have a seasonal rotation as well, which right now includes roasted strawberry, tahini & halvah (well done but quite heavy), and rhubarb crisp (already sold out when I went). They offer waffle cones for no extra charge (!!!), but I felt that the cones weren't executed as well because ice cream started melting and dripping through the hole at the end. Loved the ice cream flight that comes with 3 flavors and a cookie on top of each! It's the perfect amount for sharing and you get to try multiple flavors. I got the brown sugar cookie dough, roasted strawberry and the tahini. Only downside to this place is how small it is. There's limited seating, maybe about 3-4 stools? We went for opening weekend, and it was well worth waiting in the out-the-door line. I am legit still thinking about the ice cream I had yesterday. I appreciate ice cream that doesn't shy away from chunks, and the brown sugar cookie dough was so yummy and full of cookie dough. And the croissant and jam was distinctly jam flavored and somehow buttery just like a croissant. I don't know if I am a weirdo, but sometimes I feel like I suffer from ice cream fatigue-- where I get sick of it by the end or I am too full to enjoy the entire thing. That did not happen at Scoop. I ate that huge, double-scoop cone and wished I had more. Couple thoughts: If you ask for two scoops, they ask whether you want two big scoops or two small scoops. Yet the menu just has one price. So, I am not sure how that works. I also think you get less ice cream with a flight than with a double with two flavors. You do get to try an extra flavor. But the flight is a dollar more expensive. Toppings are .90 extra. My bf got caramel sauce and it was a small drizzle for almost a dollar upcharge. BUT the ice cream was so so delicious, and I want to go every single weekend. read more

Adorable little ice cream shop! It's definitely 'gram friendly. Their flavors are unique and refreshing. I tried the tahini and the basil, interesting yet sweet combination. I'm a savory girl but can enjoy sweets and I was delighted with my decision! I came here with my mom when she was in town. She, an avid sweets fan, loved the options and was tickled by the cute branding. Only down side is the line is long and seating is sparse. It's more of a buy my ice cream and eat it while walking around kind of place. Although it definitely is Instagramable, it is packed with many other millennials looking for that pic. The macaroon was the right consistency, and I would love for them to incorporate more unique flavors one day! This place is IT!! My mom and I were looking for a place to grab a sweet treat while she visited me and I could not be more happy with our choice. The service is beyond compare, amazing atmosphere, the cutest environment and the best energy. I would recommend shelling out the extra money for the mini macaron, it's basically apart of the experience. The ice cream isn't overly sweet, it's just right. I was skeptical about another ice cream shop in RVA, I mean, we already have Bev's and Charm School, what more do you need? Or so I thought. Scoop is a great addition to the RVA ice cream fam! The ice cream consistency is thick and creamy and they have some interesting flavors, such as Basil!!! And Tahini something or other. But more than flavors, something unique that Scoop brings to the RVA ice cream scene is their MACAROON ICE CREAM SANDWICH. It is as magical as it sounds, a big giant pink macaroon filled with whatever ice cream of your choice. I thought that the macaroon being that big (It's like the size of a hamburger patty) would lose the texture or would break apart or something, but it WASN'T - it held it's delicious crack of a shell on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside all the way through the entire thing. Blew my ever loving mind. The other unique thing about Scoop is their loyalty punch card. If you get five ice creams you get one free and that simple concept has brought me to their establishment like three times this past week. They also have two Sorbet seasons for VEGAN friends. It's also in the heart of cute little strawberry street so grab an ice cream and have a cute lil date in Scuttle town right across from it! The only reason that I am giving Scoop 4 stars instead of 5 is because I WISH they had more unique flavors such as Matcha/Green Tea and Taro. They have classics like Mint Chocolate chip, coffee, and interesting flavors like Croissants and Jam but that isn't very different from Bev's classics and Charm School's Toast and Jam. Great little ice cream shop on a very nice street in Richmond (Strawberry St). The shop is owned by the bakery Whisk. I was hesitant to go anywhere other than Charm School but Scoop did not disappoint. We went for a late night treat and I got an espresso flavor with broken cookie pieces on top. Everything was delicious. They have some really unique flavors that change frequently. Service was fine. The shop is small and only has a small bar facing the street at which to eat. When we went it wasn't packed as others have said. Perhaps the hype has died down! read more

This place a super cute find! In an adorable neighborhood in Richmond. It's probably hard to get to in the summer unless you're walking though. It's on a residential street without much parking around. The inside of the ice cream shop is so cute and the selection of ice cream is incredible! So many interesting and unique options and they partner with local coffee shops to build their flavors. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there's only like 6 seats up at a bar by the window, not much seating at all and there's only one park bench outside the shop. So there's really no where to enjoy your ice cream and the shop itself is very small so it probably gets pretty crowded when the weather is nice. read more

This was my first time going here after getting recommended by a friend. I got the golden milk ice cream as a blondie sundae with caramel sauce, crushed waffle cone pieces, and whipped cream. We were on the hunt for some delicious ice cream in Richmond during the pandemic and Scoop definitely did not disappoint! My husband and I pulled up and there were a few folks waiting around outside. We decided to call our order ahead just to minimize how much we'd have to be around other people. The gentleman who took my order was extremely polite and patient. We ordered the mint chocolate chip, rhubarb, and triple chocolate. All the flavors were delicious, the ice cream was extremely creamy, and the portions were nicely sized. The owner of Whisk has opened an ice cream shop in The Fan which highlights many of the treats from the bakery into ice cream form. The texture of the ice cream is amazing as it is not too hard but not runny. The scoops are well portioned and you get what you pay for! Add a macaron on top for an extra special treat. Can't decide? Get an ice cream flight to try 3 flavors (you can even pick different cookies to pair on top). Scoop even will make you an ice cream cookie sandwich, mixing the best of both worlds. This is one of my favorite ice cream places of all time! Their flavors are so unique and they change out regularly! Lovely location to sit outside and chat. I come here all the time and all of the flavors I have tried are fresh and delicious. The pricing is fair for how much quality ice cream you receive and you can pick two flavors in your cup- but you'll have a hard time picking just two! Hello Foodie Community, "Listen, Linda, Listen" Now, I really wanted to get this place a 5-star rating. But I am holding a slight grudge....just a tiny one. I attended this place the first day they open. Mind you, I love ice cream knowing I shouldn't be touching it with the way my body reacts. If you know what I mean. However, I tried every flavor on the menu. They were all unique and had there own flavor that made you feel really good after the first taste. MY PROBLEM!!!! Is that they took my favorite flavor away. For those who have had the chance to taste the "ROASTED STRAWBERRY", we were lucky ones. It is sooooo good. They roast the strawberries before they put it in the ice cream to bring out the rich flavors. But it's understandable why they had to take it away, due to the season's changing. So I will live lol. We are visiting Richmond for the first time on a college tour with my daughter. After walking through the Virginia Fine Arts Museum we were looking for a local ice cream shop and found Scoop. The neighborhood is so fun and eclectic. The ice cream and sorbet was outstanding. I had the salty peanut cookie crunch and my husband and daughter had the dark chocolate sorbet. This ice cream shop is cute and they also sell frozen dough for things like chocolate and butter croissants and chocolate chip cookies which I thought was super cool. This is a super cute ice cream shop with a nice park across the street. The ice cream was great and they let you try the various flavors (like Confetti, Brown Sugar Cookie...) which I loved. Great ice cream that is slightly pricey for the size. The reason for 3 stars is they aren't allergy friendly. While the ice creams are labels GF if you're gluten free, there was no "allergy scoop" for those with nut allergies. With the rise of nut allergies, myself included, I would have liked to seen them take this into account. Probably won't try again until I hear this changes. read more

This is my first review of scoop, but my second time there. I went for the grand opening and wasn't totally impressed. I went back tonight though for my second time and fell in love! I don't know what changed over the past few weeks, but their ice cream was all fantastic. I got the s'mores and triple chocolate with a cookie piece (pictured). The s'mores was the best I've ever had, and the triple chocolate was rich and had cake chunks in it. My boyfriend got the goat cheese and fig, which was surprisingly delicious and savory. We live in the neighborhood, and are so excited they have a punch card for pints - but 5, get one free! We are excited to make scoop our usual spot for ice cream from now on read more

A super cute & yummy ice cream shop that also has baked goods (brownies, bloodied, cookies) they you can pick up already baked or frozen to back at home - they even have take & bake croissants! In addition, they have pints (rotate regularly) that you can take home and a pints reward club. The mini macarons are just,,,, adorable. And yummy! The ice cream flavors are good and honestly the perfect amount of sweet while not going overboard in sweetness. I've had the Confetti Cake (I think that's what it's called - vanilla w sprinkles a la du fett & cake bits) and the Bananas Foster. My boyfriend was also a huge fan! I'd say from what I've seen as far as flavor options go the part 2-3 times I've been, there are other places in RVA that offer a wider variety of dairy-free or vegan ice cream flavors, but Scoops does also have a few!
