GO. FOR. IT. My lifelong love affair with Nutella continues so I often try to create a blend using this as base with your standard vanilla ice cream. This time, I chose to add bananas and graham crackers, and BINGO! Nirvana. I was glad to get a medium instead of a small so I could continue with the deliciousness ingestion. Yumville. We stopped by Scoop on the day after "Hurricane Irene" when lots of places were closed. The little one wanted fro yo - but Sweet Ending was closed as well. So I got her a small ($3.00) choc & van froyo topped (.75 cents) with mini m & m's (they were out of kit kats). Not awesome and not awful - but the LINE was so long (likely because they were one of the only retail stores open and they were also under staffed). In future we will stick to Sweet Ending (we love capogiro but it's pricey and they don;t have toppings and my kiddo's just gotta have her toppings). This place is A-OK but not spectacular. read more

I went here yesterday for my birthday and boy, did I fall in love with it all over again. The cashier girl was so sweet to me when I found out you couldn't use a $50 due to how this place had to deal with counter fitted money but yet, allowed me to eat my frozen yoghurt while my friend ran to the bank to pull money out. This is a cutesy place. It's not so cute when it's 90 degrees outside and you're standing in a line behind 20 whiny kids because there are only two people working here at a time. That said, the ice cream is worth the wait and the money. My aunt and I were appreciative of the delicious delicacies and the air conditioning on a hot lazy day. They are cell phone haters here. I mean sure, who doesn't hate taking an order from a customer on a cell phone? Obnoxious, rude, deserves a "no cell phone" sign. I'm a little surprised by the great reviews Scoop De Ville has on Yelp. My husband and I brought my kids there today and I must say...I was disappointed. This ice cream shop does have one of the larges selections of toppings I've ever seen, however, there were so many I felt overwhelmed. I purchased a Vanilla frozen yogurt with peanut butter cups, chocolate syrup and peanut butter syrup. I asked for a medium but it looked more like a size small. There was hardly any peanut butter cups in it. There was a good amount of chocolate syrup in it. Their idea of peanut butter syrup was scooping out two spoons of peanut butter and placing it on top of my ice cream. The peanut butter was stuck to my spoon and it was too hard to mix with my frozen yogurt! I was really annoyed because I've been looking forward to going out for ice cream for some time and this was not what I wanted. The kids' ice cream was fine.... they both ordered chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. They were happy... My husband ordered Maple Walnut ice cream with warm apples and peaches as toppings. He was happy with the Maple Walnut ice cream but disappointed with his toppings because there was barely any there. The service was slow but it was crowded so it seemed they were a little overwhelmed. My server said they weren't expecting it to be so crowded today. But slow service didn't bother me....I was just expecting a better treat. UPDATE: Matt, the owner, contacted me this week with an apology. Amazing! I had vanilla frozen yogurt with strawberries and chocolate covered pretzels. With everything blended together, it was on point. I will say that the system of taking one order and then disappearing to make it isn't the best. A couple in front of us left because they waited too long. I am a recent northeast to south transplant, and one of the biggest things i miss about the northeast is the quirky little shops like this one. I was staying at Loews Philadelphia for a wedding when I walked over to this place to meet my family. This little shop is delightful! Full of old world candy store charm, with really cool Ice cream flavors, and tons of candy and themed treats (tis halloween season right now). The place is colorful and cute, complete w/ funhouse mirrors and tables to eat your ice cream on. UPDATE: I went to Scoop DeVille today to give it another shot and the service was much better. We got our milkshakes in a very timely manner, and the milkshakes were very thick! They must have changed how they make them or something, because it was a whole different experience today. I work in the same building as Scoop Deville and the girls in my office and I often walk down there to get an afternoon snack. Time and time again I have been disappointed. When will I learn? The service is very slow, the staff is unfriendly, and the milkshakes are too thin! Every time I go there I specifically ask for an extra thick milkshake and every time it's always too thin! It seems like it's all milk! Today our service was extra bad. The manager seemed out of it. She was slurring her words and not helping anyone in line. The girl who made our milkshakes had an injured elbow and was clearly in pain, but none of the other staff offered to help her. She made our milkshakes with one arm because she couldn't move her other arm due to pain. I was really surprised at how reasonably priced everything was here. I thought, since the location and whatnot, that'd it be expensive, but I think my waffe cone + topping was only about 3 bucks. So I get that their whole deal is their toppings, which I thought a bit confusing. They take whatever topping you order and blend it into complete oblivion in the ice cream, so it's next to impossible to be able to tell what you actually ordered. I love the place and the idea of a unique treat, but I've never been greeted with a smile and a hello at Scoops. Also, I realize it's mix-ins, but I've never really heard the whole story from the scooper. I'm not sure what's going on with your employees, but I've been feeling weird about going back in your store. The last time I was in there an older woman was working with a young man. She was talking down to him in a very condescending way and treating him like he was stupid. Nothing blatantly inappropriate, but enough to make me feel a little awkward and embarrassed. I am absolutely a toppings gal, and this place truly has it all, even protein powder! (But why would you ruin ice cream like that???). Their sundaes always look delicious but I have never gotten one, just sticking with the regular ice cream and toppings. They do make custom blends or one of their recommendations, which means basically pulverizing the toppings you want into the ice cream of your choice. They also have a "lite" menu of under 250 calorie ice creams, if that is your thing.... I just signed up for their rewards program (via phone number) and they already texted me a buy one get one for $2 ice cream! As if I need another reason to go back... I stopped here to get a banana split today with a date. It was not a great experience. First off, on the menu there are three sizes. Apparently, there's really only one. Ok, no problem. So this thing comes with two tiny scoops of ice cream, a banana and two other toppings for $8.50. This is hardly enough for one, let alone two people. I basically bought a $6 banana and two teaspoons of ice cream and some peanuts. Even for center city this played is just over priced and low quality for what you're playing for. It's like a coldstone, in a way that you can combine all different toppings on your ice cream, except the ice cream doesn't stay super hard. The decor is colorful and I love the vintage candies they still sell that brings me back to my childhood. I haven't tried a lot on the menu so I'm partially biased in this review. This is probably the best ice cream I have had in a while!! First impression: The interior of the shop is so cute! Very pink and ice cream parlor like, with tons of candy everywhere. The menu was pretty overwhelming at first, so it took me a few minutes to decide on what to order. I eventually settled on a vanilla ice cream base with bananas, nutella, and chocolate brownie pieces. It cost me $5.00 for the smallest size (but even the smallest size is already very generous). This is a decent enough spot to come for ice cream, but it's more enjoyable to actually be here and get the old-school ice cream shop feel than it is to actually eat their ice cream, which is nothing extraordinary or different from any other ice cream place. On a visit to Philadelphia we stopped by to get Deseret. They had a special on their scoop devil. It was buy one get the second one free. It was the best $6.48 that I've spent for a long time. I haven't tried the ice cream--just the chocolates. They are nothing special. Even though the truffles are only 80 cents each, they are only worth about 80 cents. Save your hard earned 4/5ths of a dollar and buy a newspaper... or a couple of gumballs..or something. Yes, there are signs all over the place about not using your cell phone inside.
