It's really cozy in here. Stopped for a quick bite before shopping one weekend. Scofflaw feels very inviting. Upon entering the bartender greeted us and we were sat immediately. The server came down quickly and gave us a rundown of the drinks and menu. The meatballs, burger, and spinach dip were al delicious and our concktails were made perfectly.
Bomb cocktails and yummy food. Chill vibes and lovely outdoor area for summer. The charcuterie and bacon burger were amazing. Happy hour $8 drinks is a steal. So blessed to have neighbors like this!
One of the OG craft cocktail bars in the city. Still going strong with creative offerings (NA as well) and a great snack menu. Daily happy hour offerings. Outdoor seating weather permitting. Outstanding service and we were fortunate enough to be there early so as to engage the mixologist in creating bespoke cocktails. Different seating areas to create the suave you want. Thank you thank you thank you! When you're old as us and been around, originality is hard to find. Will make it a point to return more often.
Everything is better here! The vibes are relaxed and warm. The cheeseburger is delicious it hit the spot so perfectly. Three seating options are either at the bar, a table or the loveseats. Our servers we attentive and super friendly, time just flew by and we pretty much stayed until last call. I cannot wait to bring all my friends to hang here.
Dark and inviting vibes. Great staff, good reasonably priced drinks, and the burger is killer. The best thing is free fresh baked late night cookies
If you're a gin fan, you need to check this place out. Very few spots in Chicago have this type of selection. The craft cocktails were pretty good, but the gin selection is the star here. Try to make a reservation so you can snag one of the cozy seats. Otherwise, bar seating isn't hard to snag unless it's a Friday night. Was also impressed by the staff. They were accommodating and made great drink suggestions. I'd come again.
Scofflaw has the best ambiance! Their chandelier, fireplace truly bring you back to another time. And to add to that, their cocktail creations are so yummy. You couldn't go wrong w anything!!
Tried 4 drinks off their happy menu and all slapped - really good range of tasting notes! Pleasantly surprised by their cheeseburger! Patties were juicy and the sauce was really good - simple but done right. Their spinach and artichoke dip was very rich and cheesy, served with fried wanton chips. Greasy finger food but went to well with the clean and crisp cocktails.
Everything from the ambiance, to the service, to the food was 10/10. We arrived early for our reservation and they had us seated for a drink at a couch in the back while our table finished up. The vibes are immaculate inside - cozy, dark and lively. Scofflaw truly exudes coolness without trying too hard. We enjoyed our drinks, some more than others. But seriously get the burger. It's absolutely perfect, I have no notes. Our waiter went above and beyond and even brought my brother a small plate of fries because we didn't save him any. For dessert we got the apple pie monkey bread which was a comforting end to the meal.
In a world where it has become normal to have a $22+ burger, I appreciate Scofflaw serving what could be a Top 10 Burger in Chicago for a fair and reasonable $15. The vibe and decor are cool and the staff was friendly. Service was quick and efficient. Fries, which are extra, are a solid compliment to the tasty burger and I like that all of the beers on tap are local. Overall, a good experience and I would go back.
You can have anything on the menu before 5 as long as you order from the Brunch menu. Im not a a burger person but my son and future son I law swears by it so who am I to argue. I had the sesame French toast; sweet, savory strangely weird but I like it. It's too rich - share it with someone. The steak sandwich is excellent. My issue is with the "to go" order. I told the bar tender I need it by 2:10 - 2:15. I got it around 2:30. Too late for my wife, daughter, her future mother in law they left at 2:18. He wasn't the fastest bar tender his speed was his speed and you just had to deal with that. He was nice mind you. You just knew you couldn't rush him. He said that in advance - the food will show up when it shows up. Oh well.
Went to Scofflaw for the second time this evening and it remains an excellent experience. Service was fast, polite, and made us aware of a few things we didn't know about things we were ordering so we wouldn't be surprised. Menu remains good while being relatively compact - they do fewer things better and I appreciate that. We had several cocktails with differing profiles and base liquors and they were all good, definitely in the A class for our fair city. Particularly good was the Bear Necessity which was delightfully well balanced for any palette. For appetizers we had the fried cauliflower with the lemon pepper sauce and the beet bruschetta. Both were S class and vegetarian as well. For mains we had the Italian Beef Spaetzle and the Eggplant Hoagie, both were A class and off special note was the crispy chickpeas in the hoagie giving it an extra enjoyable texture component. We finished with the cinnamon monkey bread which was so good that I did indeed split it with my date despite initially turning down dessert. If you're in the neighborhood or looking for somewhere worth a bit of a jaunt for a lovely meal, I'd recommend Scofflaw wholeheartedly. Prices were reasonable, maybe even trending a bit on the inexpensive side for the quality of the meal.
I've heard so much about this cute bar and finally had a chance to visit! Seating is competitive but we were lucky to snag a bar seat. The dark moody lighting and smooth background music made this a perfect spot for a rainy night. Our bartender was incredible, and so was the hostesses at the front door. The cocktails are reasonably priced at ~$13 a piece, and they're stiff. And the midnight cookies were just what we needed after a few drinks!

The chair in the picture pretty much sums up my experience at Scofflaw this time around. Made a reservation for 6, gave us a booth for 5. As I was looking around the room everyone else was sitting comfortably while I sat on a chair that made my ass cheeks hurt. Oh and the menu changed, not a fan of the new choices tbh. The food was alright, if it wasn't for the burgers I'd probably never go back. read more
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner Friday night before a show at Rosa's Lounge. It is a really cool gin focused bar. We absolutely loved the music they were playing. It was an awesome mix of 60's-70's funk. We shared a few of the dishes on the menu. The chicken karrage was really tasty! I would recommend! We had it with a side of the fries and that was just a solid side dish. We also shared the Beef Hawaiij. The beef was good, but it was very spicy! It was spicer than either of us expected. We knew there would be spice because of the harissa and schug, but we would have liked it more on the side as opposed to on top of basically the whole dish. The cocktails were good too! My boyfriend started with the house made rotating punch and I had the swizzle 34. We both enjoyed them, but the steel cut really stole the show. It's one of those cocktails you can keep drinking because you just don't taste the alcohol, haha. I would recommend checking out Scofflaw when you are looking to explore something new! read more

We enter at 12:02am. "LAST CALL IS IN 30 MINUTES," says the handsome host. We ask the host for the famous midnight cookies...(it's our friend's birthday) and he says, "The cookies go out at midnight." That was 2 minutes ago! "I'll ask." He comes back and gives us one cookie (5 of us in the group). We all gleefully cheer for the birthday girl, as she will indeed get her cookie, and he puts his hand out in our faces and widens his eyes (basically, imagine your popular high school mean girl disgusted and giving you an eye roll). It was so rude that it was funny. Then he tells us last call is in 25 minutes. Then the waitress comes and tells us last call is in 30 minutes. By then we fully understood....it was almost last call. We order beers. Then the waitress comes out with 7 cookies for us!!! We were so happy. I bumped up the review from 3 stars to 4. I'm writing this in real time, people! THEN, a cook comes out from the kitchen at 12:21am and asks, "Who's the birthday girl?" And hands the birthday girl a to-go box. What's inside? 5 more cookies!!!!! The birthday girl's reaction: "Life is precious." But tbh...how did only one cookie left turn into a dozen more cookies?? LONG STORY LONG - We went from feeling like kicked puppies, to puppies getting unwrapped on Christmas Day. The host was an unwelcoming, spicy guy and the waitress and everyone else were very sweet and kind. If it wasn't for Mr. Throat Tattoo Host, we would have felt compelled to leave a fatter tip, but to be honest, he left a bad taste in our mouth. Some felt targeted. Also, the burger is fire here (we tried it yesterday night). read more

I'm a fan of gin + tonics and this might be the best I've ever had! We tried 2 cocktails and each were very memorable. The atmosphere was inviting, our server was sweet, the prices were right, there's HH, and they have a variety of food options - what more could you ask for? This made it on my list of places to show friends a good time in Chicago. Looking forward to revisiting and trying a larger variety of their offerings. read more
One of my favorite bars in Chicago! The (gin) drinks here are all great. The vibes inside are pretty cozy and is good for couples or for small to medium-sized groups with varied seating options. There's also a patio outside for the summer. The service is also pretty good. The servers are always pretty nice and are willing to give recommendations. I don't know if they still do it, but, prior to the pandemic, at midnight servers would pass out freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, which was always a good time. Honestly, the only thing keeping this place from being perfect is the food. It's an asian fusion menu, and the food is just fine. For example, the butter chicken uses a katsu style chicken. The texture of the chicken was nice, but the flavor of the curry was super bland. Additionally, the fries are pretty bad now. Prior to the change in chefs, the fries at scofflaw were some of the best in the city. They were perfectly crisp while being fluffy inside. Now, the fries are a soggy mess. Our table couldn't finish our order of fries because no one liked them. read more

A cold, grey, December evening. You walk into the Scofflaw, and the staff is cordial, even though you may not be their, um, target demographic. The music is always on point, leaning heavily towards dusty R&B. The holiday lights, the fireplace, the candles and couches make the wet outside seem like a thousand miles away. Drinks are delicious--we happened to be here at Happy Hour. The Korean beef and rice cakes are wonderful. I don't come here very often (why??) but I'm so glad to be here tonight. read more

We Tried Scofflaw for our first time. Great Cocktails. Perfectly executed drinks. This place is really dark and at 9pm it's brighter outside than inside glad my phone has a good night mode photo thingy. Well The Pea and whipped feta was amazing. Ceviche is really good. As far as Chicago Burgers go I'd rate in the top 5. The Steak Frites was confusing. The strangest tasting steak almost like it was cooked like a glazed pork dish. Would never eat that again. The service also was off took 2.5 hours for a simple bar dinner. Overall I'd try again. read more

I didn't come here for brunch, but I did come to have a drink in the late afternoon, early evening, which is a nice way to say I was day drinking. My friend and I walked shortly after they had opened so it was pretty quiet and looked at their menu. I ended up with their twist on the Bee's Knees which was really good, a little citrus, a little sweet, well made. I had another, but it definitely took a while. There were two guys behind the bar and despite no other customers were more interested in talking to each other about their plans for the weekend; one of them was interested in doing a Tarantino retrospective. I'm not one for conversation, it can be a chore for me sometimes but my friend who was interested in talking a bit of shop also got nowhere. I've read that service can be pretty iffy sometimes but if you're not going to even make an effort when there's literally no one else around I don't care how good your drinks are I don't really want to come back. read more
Super cute date spot! The garden area is a really great space for meeting a small group, or if you wanted to catch the last bit of good autumn weather. Inside is dark and cozy, and each reservation gets a couch (perfect for cocktails). The gin based drinks are DELISH. Seriously, must try. The fries are great too, but skip the burger if you want to save a little. It was good, but the apps are better. Love the menu rotates seasonally! read more

Best Brussel sprouts ever - the brown butter kimchi sauce is out of this world. Burger was also a very solid smash burger. Top 10 in Chicago for sure - maybe top 5. Super cute ambiance too read more
The last time I was here was 3 years ago and I was so excited to give it another go! We ordered the scofflaw burger with the impossible burger replacement, fries, and the braised beef. The food was tasty but not anything out of the ordinary. We knew the real reason we were visiting was for their cocktails! Our favorite cocktails were the vanguard and steel cut-- both delicious with their own unique flavors. Highly recommend. As always, the place is cozy and dimly lit. The tables are much further spread out since I last remember it, which was a nice safety measure. read more

I came here late night to grab a drink with friends. This interior here is beautiful, dark, romantic, and a super homey place to grab a beverage. The service was great - the bartenders were super friendly, poured us a glass of water, and were patient while we decided. But.... The MOST important part: they give you free cookie while you hang and wait for your beverage. Like, yes of course please I'd like the cookie. It's really a win win win - definitely come check out Scofflaw! read more

This was a place that may be only known to locals. It was pure delight. OMG, if you want a place that you can talk, maybe be romantic, a first date, or how about good food, good service and more? There are several rooms with fireplaces and tables in each. I think there were 4 total. There are even sitting areas with sofas, just to have a drink and a bar. The drinks were great. I would give the food, 4 stars only because the broccolini side was very spicy for no reason. The menu referred to a tomato sauce on the chicken as spicy and it to my happiness, it was not. (I did ask, before ordering) The servers were attentive without being overbearing. I highly recommend this place. read more

Cross another bucket list brunch place off the list!! The Cheddar Grits brunch will initiate deep feelings for Scofflaw. Swizzle cocktail, also, because gin for the win! Sleek presentations; FOH was executed well! Scofflaw is a fun time. Great first impression!!! (Insert cocktail emoticon) read more
The Scofflaw is a cool bar with great food and decant drinks. It is open seating so fend for yourself...lol. There is a cool spot by the fireplace, some standing tables (no seats at a high top table), the bar, tables for groups and tables for two. My favorite drink was Something From Above 5/5. The other drinks were 3/5 especially for $10. The last drink was on the house because they took a long time to get it to the table and I was completely fine with that. We didn't need to say a thing and there was always a full pitcher of water at the table. I was really pleased with the service and staff here at the Scofflaw. The food here is outstanding...5 plus! We started with the Broccoli Caesar and the flavors and texture with dressing/ almonds were dead on. Then we got the burger and is was like a Big Mac only 20X better! The sauce and cheese was just melted onto the burger with perfection. I want the recipe! Lastly, we had the Lamb ribs. They had homemade rub on them and were fantastic. They would go perfectly with wine! The meat was fatty, but I knew that would be the case with lamb ribs. If they did rack of lamb the price would obviously go way up, but would have less fat and same great flavor. Good job to the chefs and all of the staff here. I will definitely be back here when I come back to Chicago. read more
I've lived in the neighborhood for over 3 years and have been meaning to come here - glad we finally made it over last night for after-dinner drinks. My husband and I sat at the bar and tried some signature gin drinks that were fresh and delicious. Loved interacting with the friendly staff as well. Gave the zeppole dessert a try and was blown away - so so delicious! Will definitely be back! read more

Not pictured: Scofflaw burger, but trust me it is AMAZING! Love coming here for Happy hours, They have a wide drink selection with a french farmhouse ambience read more
This place was my favorite cocktail bar 3 years ago when I lived in Chicago. They had really strong, boozy, flavorful drinks and an outrageously cheap price. I think the cost of drinks went up like $5( if i recall correctly). The place has a bar, tables and a comfy sofa section. This time around I got the Alton benes which was a rum based cocktail with gochujang(spicy korean red pepper paste). It was very good with a kick. The guys got the other limits which had gin, vermouth, amaro... they said it tasted too cough syrupy. My cousin got the old fashioned 75 and enjoyed it. They rotate the cocktail menu every 3 months. They have fantastic fries btw and this is coming from a person who never orders fries. read more

It happened! I made it after months of hearing of this cute, hip, & excellent place to gather, enjoy delicious food, & exceptional cocktails! Ahead of arriving for reservation, our party was notified that due to low staff, the kitchen menu was limited. It was limited to a good variety & we literally got at least 2 of each item for our group of 6 to share. Staff was super friendly & way cooler then me :) Our server was attentive, accommodating with extra plates & separating meats from veggies. I definitely want to return when they fill menu is accessible because it looked super tasty! By the time we left, the place was hopping! If you're someone who doesn't like a super dim ambiance, then I recommend you do not go at night & check it out during the day/ early evening. Cheers! read more

Does anyone know how to make a "Victory Lap"? One of the greatest cocktails I've ever had.
There's no clear concensus for a cocktail build and it varies wildly with each iteration.
