I love this casino and go pretty frequently. Initially I was impressed with their Covid precautions. Last night I went to the casino and was shocked at how crowded it was; what disturbed me the most was the large number of people with their masks down around their neck or not even having a mask on. I'm just reaching out to people who come to Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs about a survey that I received about my Gaming experience after a trip to the casino on Saturday December 2nd 2023 .I received a email survey about my gaming experience on that a day .I did not have a good experience on that Saturday I played and lost over $500.00 on that afternoon!! The problem that I'm having is that Eldorado Scioto Downs tracks slot players and they already know that I lost on slots that Saturday. I'm like probably like most people who play slots there we would love to win sometimes but we all know that's not possible!! What I'm upset with is that they would send me a survey asking me about my gaming experience that day .They already know how much money I lost that afternoon and to send me a survey to me is just a slap in the face just rubbing it in . To me it's not about the money that I lost it more about the survey asking me questions about my experience that day!! I'm sure that I'm not the only person that they sent surveys to about their experience! I just think because they do track a slot player if you use your card in the slot machine they should know that most people probably don't appreciate getting something like that from them 3 or 4 days later!! The slot machine that I was on I feel was setup for me not to cash out anything on that day!! I could look at the slot machine screen and see all the combinations that would hit were there but never lined up correctly for any kind of of payoff Most people know what I'm talking about you see them very clearly and close but for some reason they don't line up perfectly for a hit !! And for that reason and because I received the survey about my experience I think the machine was rigged not to match up for a hit when I had my slot card in the machine!! And for them to like I said send me a survey they already know how much I lost that day I didn't feel like that was a very professional thing to do!! Stopped out to see what the 'hoopla' was all about at this new 'racino'. Parking wasnt too bad, but we got lucky and were able to find something close to the building and not forget where are car was. The racino was your very much smaller-scale casino. If you've never been to Vegas or a casino before, this may be your thing. There were plenty of tables and slot machines to play. I remember the night we were there, there were plenty of people walking around and waiting for you to get up and sit down quickly to play. Its an ok place if you want something small scaled, nothing like the big casinos in Vegas. read more

Went with friends for senior buffet. For the two of us it was $16.10. Very good deal and that included a beverage. The selection was ample with plenty to choose from for anybody's appetite. The fried chicken was tasty and crunchy. The scallop potatoes were tasty and the greens were yummy. Pizza looked good but didn't try it. Waiter kept refilling our drinks! I know next to nothing about harness racing, but I love coming to Scioto Downs. I've placed and won a few bets here over the years (especially when my mom had to place my bets for me) and it never gets old. I think it's ever bit as exciting as Thoroughbred racing, just for different reasons. The facilities could use a facelift, but it would be nice if they would do so without changing the look of the place. Unless your kids are horse-crazy and have been bitten by "the bug," don't bring them. They won't have the patience to sit through an entire card. Since first race goes to the post at 7:15pm, they're going to get cranky and want to go to bed before the third race, anyway. read more

All alone on Thanksgiving Day so I spent the day at the casino. Had a great time on my favorite slots. Had eaten at buffet one other time and swore I would never eat there again because it was so bad. But being Thanksgiving, with few other places open, decided to give it one more chance. WRONG. Worse turkey dinner ever. Turkey was cold, tough and had a strange taste. They also had what they called steak. It was cold, chewy and smaller than a a half deck of cards. Couldn't eat it. The best thing about my meal was the soft drink and the price was $26.99. Should have gone to McDonalds. I woke up at 2 AM and was so sick I was up the rest of the night. Don't know which item,or all, were to blame. read more

Came on a Saturday evening because we had never seen harness racing (we recently move from Alaska, so sled dog racing yes...horses, not so much) and had a great time. Had no idea what to expect. The casino was packed, loud and fun to walk through. We were early enough to get some trackside benches on the lower level and watched the horses working out. Got a couple of beers and spent the next few hours trying to figure out how to bet. And watching majestic horses. Had a great time and broke even so basically for only the cost of two beers we hours of entertainment. Next time we'll check out the Clubhouse (full) or Brew Brothers (also full) and maybe even play some slots. For today though, we had hours of almost free fun. read more

I'm a horse racing fan and love coming to Scioto Downs in May when racing season starts. We sit in the clubhouse and usually get the same table for the season. We have made such great friends who share interest in horse racing, so it's like seeing family when racing starts again. The food in the clubhouse could use a little help, it's not terrible, but the menu doesn't change. So, if you are someone who goes Friday and Saturday, you will probably be trying to figure out what to eat if you had the Club sandwich on Friday and don't want to eat it again on Saturday. They have some challenges with wait staff, in other words...trying to retain waiters and waitresses, so some time may pass before you get addressed, but nonetheless, they always do their very best to take good care of you. If something isn't right, they will fix it. There is a table minimum on the weekends and you definitely have to make a reservation, as it is not open seating like some people think. Hopefully in May, there will be a new menu and more wait staff, especially for the big racing weekends. It's a great time. read more

We went here on a a Friday night after dinner at the adjoining restaurant where we celebrated a 21st birthday. We were surprised it was not more crowded for a Friday evening. The gentlemen at the entrance checking ID's were very cordial and friendly. The gaming was spaced out well for people to get around and the best part is that it was very clean and not excessively loud. I did not see any trash anywhere. We spent about an hour playing some slots and left. Parking is easy too. We'll definitely go back for a quick evening out not far from home. read more

If you're a veteran or military dependent, don't waste your time. I went with my mother last night and tried to get a loyalty card and was told that they would not accept my "commissary card." (What is a commissary card, I have no idea.) I tried to explain to her that this is a MIILTARY ID, not a commissary card, but the girl just had no idea what she was looking at. She gave me her name (Dawn) and a number of someone who wouldn't even be in the office until the next day. I spoke to Vince (not sure which department he works in) and he spent several minutes getting it double checked with the Ohio Lottery folks and came back and said it was fine, go ahead and grab my loyalty card at the guest services. Guest services did not get the message, because they asked me if it was given the okay and they were still dragging their feet. All of this for a military ID? I've never had problems getting it accepted anywhere. No thanks, I say, I don't have time to sit and deal with this. We spent the money we brought and decided not to come back. Today I call them again because I'm still simmering a little bit over not being allowed to use my military ID, and I ask the person I am speaking to (supposedly a supervisor) if this is the same person I spoke to the night before. She says no, there was no supervisor last night, but her voice sounds familiar. In hindsight, it should have been obvious at that point she was lying because one should not have to recall if there was a supervisor on shift the night before in order to remember if she was working then. She tells me under no uncertain terms that they DO NOT accept military IDs for their loyalty card program. Cut and dry. Doesn't happen At this point, they have been given the go ahead by the folks in the Ohio Lottery office and I'm having a hard time imagining them turning away veterans on the regular, but this is what this lady is saying. So I hang up, grab the paper that I was given with this lady's name on it and sure enough, the name she gave me today was the name written on the paper last night. It was she that I spoke to, and she for some reason decided to lie about it. At this point I'm stewing pretty good over what just happened. Not only have they been given the clear to use military IDs, but this woman has just decided not to. Calling the Downs didn't help. No one knew who to transfer me to aside from the same office. I've called twice, talked to the staff several times in an attempt to get this resolved but it's not my job to make sure that this casino follows a uniform set of rules in line with the law. I just won't be back, and if you plan on using a military ID I wouldn't bother going either. (If you're wondering why the fuss over a loyalty card, let me just mention that one, it's the principle and two, the cards usually have great perks and are totally worth getting.) The night before, I did get a card from across town at Hollywood no problem, so if you want to avoid the hassle, just go there. read more

The race track was a lot of fun! The casino is your typical racino. Lots of slots. Nice to have free soft drinks. The buffet is disgraceful. As others stated the food is cold and of low quality. Most of the chinese food was globbed together. Throw it all out if no one eats it in 15 minutes. Mexican food was ok. Fried chicken was all dark meat. Prime rib was low quality and the ribs were very heavy. I ate 1 and felt sick. Desserts were reasonable but on the low end. Salad bar could have been better. Wait staff was good. Needed more vegetables. Salmon was dried out and Pizza was bland with little cheese. Surprised there werent more entrees. Swiss steak doesnt count. read more

My boyfriend received awful customer service at this casino attributing to the 1 start rating. He put his money in a machine to play keno and after asking 2 of the staff for assistance with how the betting worked (maximum bet, etc.) because the machine froze on him, no one could help him. They ended up calling a manager, a guy named Larry, who was not at all helpful and extremely rude. Rather then appeasing the situation with a refund or voucher of some sort he addressed the issue with a condescending tone and horrible attitude. I understand that it is initially a race track and they recently expanded to a casino, but since it is not unique in anyway and has embarrassing customer service he, nor his friends will return. Stay far far away, there are plenty other establishments to spend money at that will appreciate your service and treat you well. read more

I've come here for the past several years for my fathers company's annual gathering. We are always seated in the Club House building - you can see the track and watch the races while you eat and chat. The food here is simply ok (nothing to brag about). Overpriced? For sure. I'm sure at one time, this was a hopping place, and money flowed freely. Unfortunately, do to Internet gambling and economical times, the prices have gone up at the expense of cheaper food quality. This time round I decided to try the Chicken Romano. Two breaded chicken breasts on a bed of penne pasta and Alfredo sauce. Veggie of the day? Fried okra. The chicken was dry, no taste :( the Alfredo sauce was nothing to jump about. The fried okra was mushy, luke warm, and I could only taste a strong, off putting pepper mix. I'm not really a gambler, but when I was invited to watch the Jackets' playoff games here with a large group, I decided to give it a shot. I have to admit, it was better than I expected. The free VIP card with some credits for the slots was nice, and the way non-alcoholic drinks were comped was much appreciated, since I was the DD that night. The veil bar at the center of the floor is set up so the noise from the floor generally doesn't make a big impact, and there's plenty of comfortable seating to go with the big screens and TVs. Went to the "Dash" Deli. If you every wondered where Bus Station Snack Bars went, they moved here. Food not so good. Not a lot of people, no line. We had to wait while the Cook and Order taker were repeatedly clicking their Facebook status. Tables need a good cleaning, dirt and greasy. Out of straws, napkins, lids. Girls that b the cashier area, gossiped the entire time. Instead of chit chat, they could have wipe down and stock up. Poor management it appears. read more

When did this place get nice? I felt like I was walking onto a Vegas casino floor! The front facade (new?) is really gorgeous - it feels very glamorous and high end. The staff were all friendly and professional, directing us where to go for various activities. The whole place has a very clean and fresh feeling to it. The bar selections leave much to be desired - it's all low-end liquor and cheap beer. The band was really loud, too. Like, too loud. Like, GTFO loud. Obviously the clientele are... rough. It's a horse track, after all. But the Downs do a nice job of making sure that doesn't interrupt a good time. It feels like a bit like an indoor fair: come one, come all, just stay out of everyone's way. Bottom line: Fun times. read more

Great time here AND an excellent experience at their buffet! Chef Brian was beyond helpful accommodating my diet restrictions. Took the time to walk me through and discuss what was safe for me to eat. Even surprised me with a dessert option, which NEVER happens at most dining establishments. Facilities were all clean, slots were wiped almost immediately as guests got up. Staff friendly & helpful. The crowd was mostly senior, but I felt very safe bringing my Grandma and Mom along to have a great time. read more

When you have only a few bucks to spend and am in the mood for some people watching Scioto Downs is the place. The track is really old and outdated, the bathroom floors are wet, the stands are filthy, and the clientele matches. But regardless of the above I always have a good time at the track. $1 to park, $1.50 general admission. Unfortunately they raised the price of beer to $2.75 and they no longer carry Blue Moon, so you're left with Miller Lite and Budweiser. The onion rings are awesome! read more

This is a fun place to go and get a break from kiddo's from time to time. Me and my husband come every Sunday just about the bartenders are very funny and pleasant and they remember our drinks which is a plus. Came here for the first time in a good four or five years. We sat in the Clubhouse, which is still the same so far, since the racino upgrade... but I think I saw a sign proclaiming coming renovations. While the house salad was nothing spectacular, the ribeye steak with a baked potato was pretty good. The service is pretty good. I will say they make a fine Manhattan. I thought when Eldorado took over it would get better payout wise. But I didn't realize that Ceasers had really lowered the bar to what seems to be the least possible payouts allowed by law. So little action this rest home has limited entertainment value today. I have found myself spending less and less with the few trips I make here. Great variety of games. Multiple bars and places to eat. I enjoy coming here. They have a variety of promotions for people using their players card. It's worth getting one if you plan on visiting. The money you accumulate on your card vs what you play isn't good though. And the free play you accumulate isn't great either, but they try to make up in their daily promos. read more
