There weren't a lot of kids so they were able to have many battles. They each got to work on a robot, adding pieces to a pre-made body for battles. Isaac explained very well what was going to happen and how to do everything. It was neat watching all the kids design their robots! By the end, the parents were even jumping in and working on them with the kids! Great birthday party, my son said it was his favorite! They are based out of Cary/Morrisville but will travel. They were very friendly and genuinely engaged with the children during this event. Camila and the gentlemen on staff running the event did a phenomenal job keeping the children busy and engaged. We stopped in for the special FX & prosthetic makeup workshop. Camila really worked hard to keep everyone focused on the tasks at hand and did an excellent job teaching such a large group. The costume contest was a good time as well. There were so many children in creative costumes that took home little trophies and prizes. My daughter thanked me for taking her and is excited to see what else the center has to offer as a young artist. This is a excellent place to invest in your child's talents and gifts. It's also the perfect space to allow them to spend less time off their digital devices & social media. They offer anime graphic arts, music, studio production, acting and more. It won't be overnight and it won't solve every problem your child has, but it will make solid, foundational changes that will hold them in good stead for the rest of their lives. We tried it for our daughter with the most extreme ADHD symptoms and were so pleased, we put our other daughter (with less extreme symptoms) in as well. Our situation: two girls, daily calls and texts from teachers regarding behavior and not paying attention in school. I got an average of 2 calls per girl each day. I dreaded answering my phone and my stomach hurt when I saw the school name pop up on my phone. My husband is dead set against medication; me not so much. So the combination of diet, program and home exercises made sense for us. The cost is really high. Not going to lie about it. But it's worth every single dollar. I've watched first-hand as things started to change - small things like my daughter doing less donkey kicks while she watched her tablet, her starting to do things the 1st or 2nd time I told her, making eye contact when she speaks, and moving to having control over her actions. Finally, both my girls would tell me that they wanted to do better, be better but they couldn't reach those goals. Their brains didn't have the connections to give them that level of control. It's an amazing process to watch and to know that you are hitting the root of the problem rather than applying temporary band-aids.

I highly recommend the Kumon system for reading and math. My child is twelve and has attended the…read moreKumon center at Farmington Woods in Cary for the past five years. She uses math and reading programs. The center is well run and the workers are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Kumon is a very powerful method. However, the results are not instant. It is something you have to invest in over the long run. Kumon teaches disciple, perseverance, and grit along with math and reading. I have seen fantastic results. Recently my daughter took yearly academic testing and scored well. But one thing is particular just blew me away. She took a timed math test. There were 160 math problems and she completed 156 within the allotted time. She correctly did all 156 problems! This is amazing to me and I give Kumon the credit. My daughter is bright but has always struggled with focus and staying on track. She is basically an average kid and not a mathematical genius or profoundly gifted by any means. I think she still has some challenges in the area of focus but has definitely improved through the years. Kumon teaches the child to stop, focus, and work. The goal is to get into the correct mindset. This is not easy but with practice, the child can improve. We are far from the "perfect" Kumon family. My daughter sometimes fusses, has been known to lose her homework, and we occasionally take breaks for vacation and Holidays. And yet the system still works! That is incredible. Here are her scores for Grade 6 Month 4. Believe me - if she can do it your child can too. It just takes commitment over the long run. Every year her scores improve. Broad Achievement 99% Broad Reading 96% Broad Mathematics 99% Math Calculation Skills 99% Broad Written Language 96% Written Expression 83% Academic Skills 99% Academic Applications 95% Academic Fluency 95% In summary, we have had great results and I wish my older children had been able to start Kumon in the early grades as well.
