My 6 year-old son and his friends, and the parents too, had lots of fun. It was very instructive. Highly recommended!

I first heard about this studio from a parent of another kiddo in one of my daughter's track out…read morecamps. My interest was instantly piqued because I had been searching for art opportunities that didn't seem so basic for my young artist. Every other option (except one that pushed for full day when I wanted a half day opportunity) I had found offered for her age group before KidzArt had "cute themes" and was basically just drawing or painting on paper, nothing seemed special or specialized for that matter - I couldn't even find a class that offered basic sculpture with clay for my kindergarten kid! When I saw the course/camp offerings here, I was actually excited that this might be something that would work for my kid! There are TONS of different options for camps (both during the summer and for track out) for ages starting at 6 - the Town of Cary classes that seemed like they may draw in my child weren't available until she is 8 years old (the ones offered for her age group just seemed too basic for her abilities). I was thrilled to see that just after the studio opened and on my kiddo's track out there was an illustration and cartooning camp offered - perfect! So far, she has created a lot of great art: some in a sort of "wine an design" but for kids (without wine of course) style following the instruction of the teacher, and some free art of her own cartooning and illustration. There are many materials for the kids to experiment with here and an opportunity for free art time too. The owner and instructors are very knowledgeable about art and also work very well with the children of varying ages - they seem to genuinely care about the kids and get to know them. We also signed up for some classes here outside of the track out camp she is taking. The variety is great and my kiddo seems to find inspiration from the lessons as well as from the other kids in the class. I really wanted an opportunity for her to experiment with more materials and to learn some techniques she could apply to her own art - this studio provides exactly that! She's already learned some strategies with watercolor and shadow that have popped up in her other work (just like how after reading a specific book she will mimic the art style in her new art), and has requested time to work with clay which she hasn't ever really had a desire to do until now. She is really enjoying her experience at camp and definitely seems to be inspired by it! The studio itself is clean, open, and bright. The materials are well maintained, and it is overall a great place for young artists to grow! I'm excited to find more classes to continue to inspire my kiddo - she is also very excited to check out other themes here too!

It took a lot for me to post this review. In summary, the owner Kevin and Michelle the artistic…read moredirector are just not good people at all. We just could not stay silent. My daughter started their beginner acting class end of January. She is 7 and had been waiting years to be able to start. After 2 weeks, we thought everything was fine until we got an email that they didn't want our daughter back without word or warning from the staff. The main issues, she was hugging and kissing other students, had trouble focusing the whole hour, and spoke out of turn. We were shocked by the email and knew this wasn't the place for her but It was just a beginning acting class and she was having so much fun. I called the owner and worked it out. We did speak with our daughter about not hugging and trying to stay focused. My wife went the following week to help her, and everything went fine. Next week a family friend went in with her and it went well. Still received emails from the owner, making sure someone would be with her. In the fifth week, I did not go in but watched. I was starting chemo next week and knew I couldn't do this every week. We thought it went fine, watching her the whole time and when asked the teachers how it went, the only response was fine until the end she got tired. Then here comes the emails again. This time there were a bunch of lies, she pulled up her skirt, which my wife made sure she was wearing pants and tried to hug someone again. They told us they knew I had started chemo and insisted we find someone to assist her in class. We knew they just wanted to get rid of her and we had enough. I had to break my poor little daughter's heart. She cried and cried she could not go back. I am sure they were happy. My daughter wasn't as good or obedient as the other students. I don't know about acting classes, but I played a lot of little league sports. We had kids that scored goals for the other teams, couldn't throw a ball to save their life, couldn't stay focused, and were just horrible but no one ever said a thing. Their kids just having fun and trying to learn something new. Now this place could have a great program and produce great performances; however, I don't care, they are despicable.

The shopping center is anchored by a Food Lion, so there is usually plenty of parking. It is to the right of Two Roosters Ice Cream and to the left of Greystone Recreation Center. The non-profit community theatre opened in 2002. I'm not sure exactly when I found this gem, but boy, has it changed since I started attending shows here. Seating was once all floor seats and has taken on many transformations since then. It currently has 8 rows of 12 seats, with row A being floor level and B-H as stadium seating, with an aisle in the middle. It has always been an intimate theatre, and you are never far from the stage. Besides the seating, professional-grade updates were made to both the lighting and technical side of things because of Liz Droessler. Ticket prices are reasonable, and there are reduced rates for educators, seniors and veterans. Seats are assigned, and the website makes it easy to select the seat you wish to sit in. Some of the seats are accessible. Tim Locklear became the managing artistic director in 2014. He welcomed me as well as those I introduced to this theatre. He strove to create an inclusive community and brought shows to venues I hadn't always heard of. He wasn't afraid to tackle the hot-topic shows and brought these issues to the forefront. These shows tackled alzheimer's, mental illness, PTSD, eugenics, abortion, race relations, and LGBTQ+ stories. Some of these shows were uncomfortable to watch, but the stories needed to be heard, and I left with a much better perspective. In 2022, NRACT won the NCTC Community Theatre Award for belonging, inclusion, and diversity. Tim retired in September 2025 but is still directing shows, most recently Boys in the Band. It is playing for a few more weeks if you want to see a deep show. The performances here are always high quality, from the talented performers to the sets and costumes. They've had Parade; Don't Bother Me, I can't Cope, Dot: Grown-Ups; Church and State; Next to Normal, Calendar Girls; Dogfight; Equus; Roe; Always Patsy Cline and Young Frankenstein are a few. If you want a story that stays with you, NRACT is where to go for meaningful theatre. It's the kind of place where you aren't just an anonymous seat number but a valued part of a community. Lormarev Jones recently took the helm as Managing Director, with Jess Barbour as Artistic Director, so I am excited to see what their energy brings to NRACT.
