I was looking for an accountant familiar with NJ and PA taxes and speaking with Jeff, it was immediately clear he was well-versed in both. What also stood out to me was his willingness to spend time speaking with me over the phone. Ray Cox was recommended to us by a friend who owns a successful small business. We have used Ray as…read moreour accountant for preparation of a (very complicated) estate. Ray is very accessible via phone and email (and if you leave a message, he calls you back within 1-2 days tops) and has answered our (numerous) questions with language that a non-accountant can understand. I was most impressed with Ray when I called him (nearly in tears) while trying to do our 2014 taxes, which were complicated because my mother-in-laws' estate was now piggy-backed on our taxes. I called Ray, nearly hysterical, and explained what was happening with the online tax program. He calmed me down, had me walk him through the screens (which he couldn't see over the phone of course), and helped me to rectify the issue. In total, we were on the phone for over 20 minutes during his most busy time period. Ray is a really nice, helpful guy who is a very talented accountant. I highly recommend his services.

Before Ahura, my husband and I were filing taxes using Turbo Tax. These past few years with Turbo…read moreTax has left us with less and less of a refund, which did not feel correct to us. In fact, we started Turbo Tax again this year and it acted like we owed state taxes which we knew was not correct. So we chose NOT to submit through them, and instead chose to file with an actual accountant. We chose Ahura Group. Shirin was so wonderful, even in the middle of this pandemic where everything has basically shut down. She was able to help file our tax return quickly and easily without any delays. We spoke over the phone. Submitting our documents online, using their patient portal, was incredibly easy. At one point there was an issue with my pin number not working (the pin number that the irs issues to file electronically) due to a fault on MY part (I gave her the wrong number by mistake), but she was so polite about it, just asking me to kindly double check the number. I managed to do just that and provided her with the right one. She was so nice and thankful when I did. I greatly appreciated her kindness. I should add that with Ahura Group I actually got a MUCH larger refund than Turbo Tax was willing to provide. And with them I even got a refund with the state taxes, instead of owing like Turbo Tax said. My husband and I are very happy with Shirin at Ahura Group and plan to continue using her to file our taxes from now on! Trust me, it is worth it to have an actual accountant! The fee is higher than online softwares, but even with the fee you will get more. Trust me. Go with Ahura Group! You will not be disappointed! :)

Would not recommend after meeting with Tara M. For my 2023…read moretax return Rose was great to work with, where she explained things in detail. Value was comparable to other accountants. Though I had many recommendations and referrals for other accountants, I chose to work with Rose because I chose to specifically support a woman and minority owned business. One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. I would recommend Rose Brown only if you were just working with her and Darin, but would stay away if you are on a call with Tara.
