Food is delicious! Great specials , I usually order takeout and the food is always hot

We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night and ate at the bar but there was a large amount of table seating available as well, there was a small patio with outdoor seating. The atmosphere is very much a sports bar with lots of old school decor on the walls. I had the Chicken, bacon, ranch wrap which was tasty enough. Called to see if they have baked French onion soup on. Y birthday. Was told yes. We get there and the lady throws the slop soup at us and says she didn't know how to use the torch. Just some soup with Shredded cheese on top. Not baked. Soup had no flavor. She asked how it was and we told her it wasn't good and it wasn't baked. She said it was baked. I asked her how it was baked when she didn't torch the top or put it in the oven and it was even cold. The other waitress replied "ok I'll start telling people it isn't baked then" extremely rude and unprofessional. We also had a fajita wrap. 4 small pieces of chicken on both of our wraps. I now I'm fat and don't need the owner of a local establishment telling me! Telling everyone how you get treated and am longer going to give them our business. We, I hadn't been to Schooner in 13 years, due to a bad experience. But was visiting a friend who lives in the neighborhood and he wanted to walk over to Schooner for the Packer game, so what the heck. The place was clean and well lit. Nicely set up square bar with the bartender in the middle with an easy access to the kitchen window. A pool table and a beautiful 300 gallon fish tank. Having had fish tanks before I know how much time and money it takes to keep a tank this big clean and healthy. The service was good. Only one bartender on football Sunday and 30+ people at the bar, but she mostly kept up OK. Worked hard and didn't spend a lot of time socializing like some local bartenders due. The burger was tasty and a bit overcooked, but great for the price. Good pours on my drinks. Bathrooms very nice and clean. Lots of parking and friendly customers. Was all set to give the place a 4-star review and then I got my bill...with an extra $1 tacked on for a "customer service" charge. WTF? Another dodgy owner passing off his employee costs onto the customer. That or they are charging me extra for using a credit card. Either way, it sucks. That's bad enough when other places do it, but they at least put out signs or post it on the menu. This place just burns you for a buck and tries to hide it. Look - it's only a dollar, and I can certainly afford it, but it's the principle of the thing and the sneaky way it's done. See you in 13 more years. read more

Stopped here on a whim. Not far off the main drag and very worth the trip. Very casual, large square bar with at least 4 TV's if you want to catch a game. Great Old Fashions! Pizza is SO good. Bartenders are pretty friendly. read more

Ate here a few weeks ago, bartender was to busy to wait on us as she did nothing ! Then had no knowledge of how to even make our drinks, she was not even professionally dressed, her stomach was sticking out an when she bent over what a show of fat !! Keep it covered! The bar was a filthy pig sty, even our menus , bath was worse , I hated to even wash my hands !! Our food was so so, the worst was watching the tender eat hers as she was waiting on people an licking her fingers ! Gross !! Will never go back!! read more

Stopped here for a Friday fish fry and wasn't impressed. The waitress forgot our order and we were waiting over an hour for our food. I've eaten here before but this was the last straw. We barely got an apology about the service and we actually asked to have our dinners boxed up to go so we could get our kids home at a decent hour. read more

I don't often visit the twin cities, but when I do I always stop for a Friday night fish fry. I ordered the "lake perch" special and was deeply disappointed and frankly disgusted by what was served to me. I've eaten MANY fish fries in my life and know what perch should look and taste like. I was served a fish that was red in color, smelled like it was rotten, and tasted even worse. I talked to the waitress, who went to the kitchen to confirm that what I was served was indeed "lake perch". The seven other people who were there with me experienced the same "perch". This place has gone downhill and apparently doesn't hold standards that it used to. The waitress did apologize and gave us half off the bill, but that will not keep me coming back. Very disappointed. My friends an I have been in Schooners every Wednesday for ten years. I ride a power wheelchair and most often we get a table that I can access. Tonight, Ash Wednesday, we were bumped from our usual table and palced at a high top table. The level of this table is right at my nose. I left in disgust. Every able bodied person in that place got to eat and drink except for myself. Seems to me that Schooners needs to review how they treat people with disabilities. My friends and I will be spending less time and money at this palce. read more

Went with friends on Sunday for dinner. The special was broasted chicken and was awesome!!!! We added in the salad bar and if you try it, do not overlook the soup! It was Steak and Mushroom and was phenomenal! Definitely not nasty old canned or frozen soup! I live 2 blocks away and have tried to eat here close too 100x and I've always been disappointed. Fri and Sat nights they are busy and the service suffers. The bartenders are rude and snotty to women, especially if you're pretty. Women are ignored and single men are given all the attention. I've watched them pick their panties from out of their asses and grab a pick of olives or grab a beer. Ive watched them pick their noses and pour drinks, never washing their hands. I've had friends say that $ isn't safe on the bar. And the food is decent at best. I don't think our order has ever been 100% right, something is always burned, raw, undercooked, missing or the wrong order completely. And the wait staff is under trained and if you ask for your meal to be corrected they take it personal and get bad attitudes. The place is always clean tho and the customers are well behaved. You def don't need to worry about bar fights. Weekends are always busy with friendly customers read more
