A lady with colored hair at the front desk was nothing but rude to my child her last year at Schofield Middle School. I think it's extremely childish and unprofessional behavior giving such attitude to a thirteen year old I know is nothing but polite and respectful-- my daughter only ever goes up to the T3 office when in need of help. read more

This school is horrible, NEVER and I mean NEVER send your kids here. The school is very ghetto and does nothing about the racism issue in this school. It's very hard to have your schedule changed here even if it's for the right circumstances. The staff and teachers are extremely rude and have no respect at all. The only kind staff members/teachers are Mix Sulit, Ms. Ortega, Ms. Yvette, Ms. Williams, Mr. Murray, and Ms. Frazier. The teachers also do not explain the curriculums correctly and often leave the students confused having to learn the topic on their own. Prime example: Ms. Sparks. Ms Sparks is an Algebra teacher who doesn't quite explain the concept correctly and often rushes through. Ms. Sparks is also very strict and disrespectful to students. read more

This school is pretty awful, a teacher and multiple students have said the f slur. It isn't a safe space for 'different' individuals. The teachers are also extremely rude and unhelpful. The staff are toxic. The only good staff members are Mx Sulit and Soz (Mrs Sosniak). The only good part of the school in my opinion are clubs. Personally I find Q&A to be amazing! It's a great community and a safe place. In the end, the work doesn't teach anyone anything and the curriculum is faulty. I do not recommend the school. read more

The office staff is extremely rude, unprofessional, and disorganized. Went twice to try and register my child the person who is in charge of registration is never available. You can tell the office staff don't like their jobs by their nasty condisending remarks. Such as you had all summer to register your kid and it's not the end of the world. If this is the way they talk to parents. I can only imagine how they talk to our children. Mind you i already registered my child long before school was let out. I got an email just a week ago saying that his registration was incomplete. It's not my fault they're unorganized. Mind you my child is on the spectrum. I just wanted to make sure his first day of middle school went as smoothly as possible. read more

This is our first year attending Schofield MS and so far it's been great. The teachers are great, especially the school counselor, assistant principal and principal. They have all returned my calls promptly whenever I had a concern (I'm that parent that's extremely involved) I will say there are more fights than I can ever remember in middle school which is why I took a star away. however, that Has to do with parenting and discipline at home. I teach my daughters respect and morals so they don't seem to have any issues but The fights do spook her. Overall they have greats sports, teachers And organization. They offer excel classes for children that are more advanced and we appreciate that because we want our kids to have a challenge. The counselor has been amazing with helping my oldest find her advance classes so she can really excel! It's a great school. read more

Our of the few reasons to consider moving away to another zone in Las Vegas, sending your kid to a private school, or home schooling them. We had to do that with my niece. I could not stand by and let my niece experience this travesty of a school. This middle school should be more about fixing problems than trying to hide them. This middle school should be more about giving teacher the tools and know how on how to deal with student behavior issues than automatically passing off the issue to the on campus Las Vegas Metro Police. This school needs to address the issue of over the hill teachers desperately holding on for retirement. This school needs to address the issue of hiring unqualified and less than enthusiastic teachers just looking to pad their Graduate School transcript. This school needs to address the issue of why they have such a high turnover of teachers and administrative staff. This school needs to address the fact their school athletics cares more about helping an underachieving coach break into High School sports than they do about their student athlete. That said: Congratulations to the few teachers that actually care, and to their on campus church that desperately wishes to make a difference. And all is not as dire as I have painted. Your child will once again a level of sanity they experienced, in grade school, once they reach Silverado High School a few blocks down the street. read more

There aren't many good things to say about this school, we moved from another state and while I knew Nevada schools were ranked among the worst in the country, I convinced myself that it would be okay since we were moving to a nice part of town. I was so wrong! My child's math teacher Mr. Diggins was simply wonderful, he took her under his wing and really pushed her to be the best she could be. He's also the only teacher that ever responded to my emails, I tried several times to reach out to other teachers but never heard from them. Ms. Varella the 8th grade counselor is great as well, while she's a very busy woman and it was hard at times to get in contact with her, she's incredibly sweet and kind and cares about the students. And finally, it took the bus driver, yes the bus driver, to put a stop to the bullying my child endured. She had quit riding the bus and was instead walking 2 miles to school, so she didn't have to put up with the nasty kids. When Mr. Fred found out she was walking he put an end to it quickly....not sure what he did, but the issue was resolved and my child felt safe. Definitely didn't have a good experience overall, and we'll be homeschooling from here on out. read more

Out of the two people we met while registering today, at least one was pleasant. The woman at the counter in the office seemed to be sitting in for someone- and didn't have much information. I guess the registrar is on vacation? Being that today is the day they opened registration, this doesn't seem well planned. We met a man that teaches art, and he was not only very kind - but very upbeat. My biggest issue is that my son is transferring from out of state to 6 th grade at this school and has no idea what he's doing. I was told there is no middle school orientation. Basically, the only thing offered for new students in 6th grade is a camp type offering that you have to PAY $60 FOR. I was told that is the only way for my son to become oriented to his new school environment. So apparently he has no chance to meet teachers, students, learn where classrooms are, learn where his locker is and how to work a combination, and absolutely no chance of becoming comfortable with being at a new school and being a middle schooler--- with out me PAYING?! I asked if there were scholarships available for this so - called camp and was told NO. What are children who's parents have no extra money available supposed to do with their children? Throw them into the pool and hope they can float? I'm very disappointed. Maybe I can post another review after the school year has started. But I'm not happy right now. And the 3 stars are for the nice art teacher we met. I wish I would have asked for his name. read more

I am a student at Schofield Middle School, and it is A-OK. For the most part, the staff is kind and very good at their job (I love you Mrs. Murray) and the administration understands where their students are coming from when complaints are made. They do their best to make all students happy and are welcoming to new ones. I would recommend sending your child here if it is an option provided. read more
