Yelping a car dealership, with well intended words isn't an activity I might've ever thought possible. Lo and behold, this guy had what I wanted. Since I didn't care terribly about stereos and all the bells and whistles etc, I simply drove it and mentally registered the lower mileage. Additionally it was remarkably quieter inside than my 2009 Odyssey even after I spent countless hours sound dampening it. Killer service and even a couple follow up texts from Wade, asking if everything was as it should be. Cool. This marks the second car purchased by my wife and myself. The car I gave them in partial trade in for her car back in 2014 brings back an irritating recollection which blackens out star number 5. Two years after that traded in car was essentially a forgotten bad memory, I received a ticket from the Milwaukee municipal something or other, demanding I pay for a pile of parking tickets accrued prior to the vehicle being towed into car jail. For which they also wanted a ransom paid before I would be given back my car! This was a total of possibly more than the cars trade in worth. As it turned out, Sheopp sold a heap of traded in heaps to a shady used car peddler in or near Milwaukee, and in turn this business never bothered clearing titles etc. a couple angry phone calls and Sheopp again redeemed their image to me, resulting in my recent purchase of my "new to me" Honda Odyssey for which I write these possibly useful, marginally funny and definitely uber-cool words. read more

Don't ever buy a vehicle from here. I should've walked right out. I went there only cause a saw they had a vehicle i was interested in that was online. Patrick was a sketchy salesman from the start. He told me I couldn't get the car I came to look at. But showed me another car that smelled so bad of cigarettes and had scratches and scuff marks on front bumper. I got so taken advantage of. I know I should of just left but I screwed up. We'll after sitting there all day and paying 2 different amounts of cash and still was over 20,000 for a 2017 honda crv. I started leaking oil. I called. I brought it in to be fixed, they fixed it. I had free oil change so I went to get that. Driving home down the hwy. And I hear what sounds like a bolt drop on on the road, I kept driving. Got closer to home and here metal grinding on the road. Stop at gas station and the plate was hanging down scraping the road. I called from the gas station. The guy was very rude and said it wasn't there problem. So I wrote a review about it. Next day a shop guy calls me and tells to bring it back. So I did so they put a new plate on. ​​Apparently whoever did the oil change didn't tighten the bolts and they fell out. Then in January of 26 the turbo goes out. I bought this car the end of November in 24. I did have a 3 month warranty. So I didn't have to pay for the repairs they did. Now April 26 something is wrong with the turbo again. I had the turbo replaced at a local mechanic shop in my town so I didn't have to drive a hour to Shcoepp motors. So now I need to get ot repaired again. Also I'm in a upside loan so I have to pay it down if I want to get rid of it. So I'm fucked now. Assholes. I not only got ripped off on the price but the mechanics of the vehicle as well. Schoepp motors West Overall experience 3 out of 5( it would have been a 5-Star). Me and my family walked into Schoepp Motors West as it was very close to my home on a Saturday and looked through 2 Lexus es 350 models that is certified from them. Our family liked one from the 2 we checked and discussed the pricing and couldn't agree to the pricing so left the dealership with out closing a deal that day. Nate Cook understood our needs and mentioned if anything could be worked out he will contact me later. Initial impression - the live market pricing mentioned are still high and almost the same as Lexus certified pricing, so mention that to Nate and gave the numbers I am interested in. Got an email from Nate on 30th September and we worked out a deal on the Lexus es 350 we looked at. Later that day we went and closed the deal and took delivery of the vehicle. To be fair to Schoepp all dealerships are priced high for used cars in around Madison for last 3 years, but Schoepp paid top dollar for my used car which indirectly reduced the new car price. After sales experience - 2 days later notice on the front drivers side tire had a bulge and it is not safe to drive, called Nate and he immediately responded to bring it back and generously offered to get it replaced free of cost. Went in immediately and got it fixed but after reaching back home I notice(very hard to see) the rear tire one of it has a cut on the side wall and has been sticked in with tire glue. Seeing this, it did not make me happy and decided to take a second opinion from Discount tires and was told that it's not safe to drive. Both the rear tires are below half thread life(4 and 5) and front tires are one new and one similar. So decided to spend $750 on 4th day of purchasing the vehicle to get all the 4 tires replaced to make sure all 4 tires are even and safe to drive around with my 2 small daughters. Final thoughts - This would have been a 5-star review if Schoepp certified meant to be 100% safe vehicle for a family with 2 small kids(Safety is no1 priority for a dad with 2 kids). Schoepp should have just replace all 4 tires with new ones with this high price tag when they certify their vehicles and that would have been a 5-star review for them. I would rate Nate Cook 5-star as a sales representative as he did his best to get the numbers I was looking for. I would recommend Nate to anyone who is looking for a vehicle. It was a great 4-star experience with Brian from service team who went ahead and changed the front tire free of cost for me. My disappointment is with the person who inspected the vehicle on behalf of Schoepp motors certifying it as safe with 1 bulged tire in the front and one tire that has a slash on the side wall (glue was fresh and sticking to my hand). Before anyone points out its tires and anything can happen with tire on the way home, the answer is - Its 1.7 miles of perfect road to my home from the dealership. So, I would say overall it's a good place to purchase your vehicle but make sure you inspect the vehicle thoroughly and bargain your best on pricing. read more

I bought a Jeep in 2022 and it has had problems since the very first days. we had to bring it in multiple times for repairs at Schoepp and recently brought the car to the Jeep dealer. The Jeep dealer informed us the car has had engine and other mechanical parts replaced by a mechanic that didn't complete correctly and asked if it had gone through a chop shop. The purchase process started to feel a bit long with two kids in tow, but the staff worked efficiently to get us out as quickly as possible, even staying past closing to finalize everything the same day. We bought our car from them, that part was... Sus. Charlie kept making claims that were clearly not true, but what really did it? They did an oil change and never put more oil in the car. I had a hybrid, so the engine didn't kick on because I had a battery charge. Kept plugging in my car for weeks so no engine. When I went out of town and the engine turned on I pulled over and had to have it towed home, $300. They never apologized for the 11hr inconvenience. Never helped pay for the tow. Never even admitted they were at fault. They sold me the damn car, they don't know how it works? Horrible experience. I drove from Appleton to Middleton to test drive a specific type of car. I was made an offer. I explained it wasn't within my budget. I was made another lower offer and all the numbers it included. I asked to make a phone call and the sales person, Charlie, stepped out for a moment. He came back into the office and I said I accepted that lower offer. So Charlie responds I can't offer that to you anymore and will have to go back to the original offer, which was obviously higher. Now he says that he made the offer without the owner's approval. Maybe I wouldn't have been so upset if he was a new employee, but Charlie said he worked for this dealership for 8 years. Worst experience ever! I bought a van with 80K miles on it. Supposedly they give all their used car a thorough check but they forgot "little things" like the sliding side doors don't close, the back seat is broken so it can't be dropped back down in the well, none of the chargers work and the windshield wiper fluid tank has a major leak in it. That's just what we discovered the first week! The salesman was super pushy, rushing us through the whole process. They added a $2,500 warranty package without asking, the van was already overprices by $2-3K so with title, registration and all the added fees the total price was almost $5K more than sticker price! Very rude manager!! I went to fix my tires yesterday because it was losing a small amount of air but not fast enough to lose all at once. So they fixed the problem (which they claimed) and I got home straight and parked on the driveway. I use my second car for errands. The next morning, one of the tires is completely flat. So, I called them up and the manager was so rude blaming me that I might have run over a nail after when I left the shop. He was raising his voice on me and trying to reverse the problem on me. He said he was the manager at the service dealer. I am never going back there to maintain my car. I bought my car there 5 years ago and have since been a loyal customer. They did not follow my instructions so my credit score dropped from multiple inquiries. So, a year into ownership and here's what I know...... I replaced my air filter and there was a solid inch of some white powder in the bottom of the air filter box under the filter. This truck was either flooded or it was used to plow snow it's entire life and that was all salt dust it sucked up every minute it was on the road up in Canada. I've never seen anything like it. Check the CarFax? Guess what, CarFax doesn't follow a vehicle's history when it's out of the United States, aka, Canada. I checked the transmission fluid during my last oil change. When I bought the vehicle it had 28,000 miles on it. Well, the transmission fluid was jet black, meaning it's gone through hell and back the first 28,000 miles of its life. The frame was hastily re-painted with some sort of black rubber coating, which is now falling off in 5 inch pieces, revealing the one of the rustiest 4 year old truck frames I've ever seen. Every nook and cranny, from the front bumper to the back. Solid. Rust. Again, most likely supporting my hunch that it was covered in salt as a leased plow truck its whole life during the 2-year lease it spent up in Canada. The truck came with some over-sized tires on it. They look great, don't get me wrong, but after being under the vehicle and looking at the spare tire, it's a stock spare tire, several inches in diameter smaller than the rest of the tires. Safe to say I won't be able to use it in the event I get a flat tire. When I went in there the first time, they offered me $3,500 for my Toyota Tacoma, which blue-booked for $12,500. I was shocked. How do you look another human being in the face and offer them $10,000 less than what their vehicle is worth? In the end, I caved on their later offer for $9,000. I traded it in on Saturday morning. The very next Tuesday, 2 days later, it was on their lot, "on sale" for $12,995. Safe to say they didn't do a thing to it and made $4,000 just off my trade alone. It was sold by the end of the week. How much money do you need to make in profit off of someone? 4 grand on my trade in. Probably at least another 5 grand in profit on my purchase. I wouldn't be surprised if they made 9 thousand dollars off of me for a few hours of work. So, in the end, there is very little reason I can think of to ever buy a vehicle from a used car dealer. There is no warranty here, unless you buy their crazy, over-priced extended service plan one, which, if you do that, you're a bigger sucker than I was. So, no warranty. Not a day, not a mile. You think they go through their vehicles with a fine-toothed comb and get them all back up to like new condition before you buy them? I'm living proof they don't. You drive off that lot and you're on your own.....so, why buy there in the first place? You're going to pay more money to support the salesmen and that giant building. Go with a private seller instead. Worried you're buying a lemon? Take the thing in to an independent mechanic you trust and have them go through it prior to your purchase. Save money, save piece of mind. A private seller will always get more for their vehicle selling it outright and you'll always save more money buying it from a private seller. It's those used car dealers, the middle-men, that swoop in and buy the vehicles for way less than they're worth from people and car auctions and then jack them up prior to selling them to people just like you and me. The other weird thing I've noticed is why doesn't Schoepp have any Google reviews? Nothing. Nada. Every other business I've ever went to has people reviewing it on Google. Nope. If you "google" Schoepp motors, you get a corny, 2nd rate website you've never heard of called "Dealer Rater" It's chock full of a bunch of fake, 2-sentence, 5 star reviews, most likely written by employees of Schoepp motors on a daily basis to off set the real reviews written by real customers. Steer clear of this place. You're already smart enough to look them up on the internet, because a little part of you isn't comfortable buying something from a place like this. Guess what? I'd rather spend more somewhere else (and yes, I have). Schoepp is a total crapshoot. While shopping there, they had me take a car home with me to help me think about it. Upon getting home, I crawled underneath to find extensive damage to the frame and bumpers. From the outside it looked fine. When I returned it and pointed out all the issues, they said they'd fix it all. Really? What kind of inspection do these cars go through when Schoepp gets them? NONE, I'm betting. I don't believe it should be the customer's burden to find everything wrong with the car before buying it. A quality sales establishment would put a good product on the lot. Schoepp wants to sling them through as quickly (and cheaply) as possible. After my experiences with them, I know why they have the lowest prices - they're not investing anything into their product. As I said, it's a crapshoot. If you know a lot about cars and are handy, you could get a pretty good deal here. Or, you could take your chances and get lucky. If you decide to pursue a car at Schoepp, I'd HIGHLY recommend using a local mechanic to do their $50 once-over used car inspection to see if there are any red flags. read more

They are unwilling to own up to their work and unwilling to make the situation right Craig the head honcho laughed at me on the phone. Customer service is definitely not on point I ask that either a two-year, no mileage restriction for the transmission that they failed to install properly, or have Zimbrich Nissan install a new transmission paid by schoepp motors. Purchased a 2019 Chevy Silverado from them on 10/15/22. The week after I made the first payment (11/21/22)the truck completely shut down and would not start again. They added an after market bumper on it which is causing the sensors to go haywire and not an entire system issue with the computer of the truck. Had to have it towed to a GM dealer to try and get it running again. Now here we are 12/17/22 and it's doing the same thing. I called this dealership the day it first happened (11/21/22) in which they made sure to let me know that it's past the 30 day window from when I purchased (6 days past) and they don't need to help and it's not their problem. Since I've owned this vehicle just over 3 months it has left me dead on the side of the road 6x. It is currently not functional the week before Christmas again and they will do nothing!! HIDE YOUR WALLET On March 31st, 2018 my mother went to Schoepp Motors in search of a vehicle, as hers was no longer safe to transport her granddaughter. Having previously been in the automotive industry for years, I was hesitant to let her do business with Schoepp, but her sister knew the salesman. I live out of town so this made me feel slightly more comfortable. This was my first mistake. My mom was shown a car that fit within her budget and given her situation, she was in need of a reliable vehicle fast. Not being able to be there in person, I spoke with Russell, her salesman on the phone. He explained the financing terms, which were fair. I gave a credit card number over the phone for her $1000 down payment and explained to Russell EXACTLY what would make me comfortable with finalizing the purchase. I told Russell that they could include gap insurance into her financing, but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WERE THEY TO ADD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OR ANY OTHER MAINTENANCE PLANS, etc. Russell told me he understood, and that he would honor my request. I believed him, which was my second mistake. My third mistake was never looking at her paperwork after the purchase. Last month my mother learned that she had cancer. As she won't be able to work, I told her I would be taking over her car payments. Upon review of her documents, I found that the $9900 car she thought she had purchased was actually sold for around $13,500. THIS INCLUDED AN $1800 EXTENDED WARRANTY. To be clear, she should have paid more attention and been less trusting, and I certainly should have been more proactive. I just discovered all of this last night, so I'm in the process of finding out what else was rolled into the loan. I'm not certain that Russell was intentionally deceitful, but he was complicit nonetheless. Nathan A Delmore was the actual name on the contract. Either way, this experience confirmed all of my reservations about Schoepp Motors, and it makes me sick to my stomach that I did not do more to help my mother avoid being taken to the cleaners by these people. The Better Business Bureau and Wisconsin DATCP are next on my list, but I wanted to make sure this information was immediately available to anyone who may be considering this dealer group for a vehicle. read more

Purchased an excellent F150 on July 9th 2019. My sales person deserves a 5 star rating, he was very attentive, not pushy and was enthusiastic in helping me find the specific option in a truck I was looking for. My one star review is due to the finance department for two reasons. 1.) Completely ignoring my request to work exclusively with UW Credit union. I mentioned it several times and during the paper signing I asked him to verify that UW Credit union was in fact the loan originator. I took him at his word and quickly signed the papers as it was the end of day. Two is weeks later I haven't seen the loan show up in my online account so I called and was informed that the loan was through some umbrella Credit union", and there is nothing they can do for me since the loan has been completed. 2.) They were extremely misleading with their assertion that it has a clean Car Fax report. I found out at signing that this truck is from Canada and Carfax doesn't follow the vehicle across borders, aaand although this has fewer than 30,000 miles, there is no remaining factory warranty. My trust has been broken, I won't be doing business with them again. I would Highly recommend avoiding this dealership. read more

I bought an Escalade that had immediate issues. Thankfully I bought an extended warranty. I never felt like it rode like a Cadillac should but It was a truck body after all and I didn't know what to expect. After about 6 months of ownership I have had it in for seat heaters, (never worked from the start and replacements don't seem to work well either) power window motor failure and the sunroof seal was not intact. The seal was clearly something that should have been caught during inspection. Now I have a wheel bearing gone bad and thankfully the expensive warranty I bought covers that but unfortunately they are telling me that the front struts need replaced and they are not covered under my warranty. The service rep said I have probably noticed the ride getting worse to which I replied, "no, it's been like that since I bought it from you". He completely dismissed my comment and asked if I wanted to spend the $2000 to replace the struts. I said no and said this is something that should have been taken care of before they put it on the lot. He dismissed my comment again and said, "ok, I'll let you know when the wheel bearing is fixed". He could care less. I get the feeling they get a lot of grief in the service department there. I had an appointment that I rescheduled because what they said was going to be fixed on my car was not. I booked an appointment and they were booked out for a week. I called the day after my appointment was scheduled and said that I think I was supposed to bring in my car on Thursday. Brandon could not find what I was talking about and was on hold for 5 minutes. Finally he found it and said I was supposed to be there yesterday at 10 am. I said ok I didn't get a call or anything and was wondering about that, and he said I've never called anyone to confirm their appointment, "that's not our problem", and I replied saying that it's part of customer service and in the past doing business with Schoepp that have called an confirmed my appointment and usually very nice. My family has given this company a lot of business through referrals, cars bought, and service done on our vehicles. Slowly they have began to lose my trust and bad customer service is always very unattractive. Moral of the story after going to Schoepp for 6 years and being a loyal customer, I am completely changing my perspective on the entire company and the way they handle customer service after being treated like I'm the one that couldn't fix my car the first time. Also funny story, they lost the quote I got for the leak I was getting repaired, they said I would need to have the tubes cleaned before they checked the leaks. I brought the car in to have different service done, wanted them to clean the drains so I could get the repair done. They lost that quote I got, and said that it shouldn't be leaking anymore. I went to Triton and it leaked and they scheduled me for the next week. This is the appointment I missed and called about, and now I will never be going back. read more

Buyer beware! This is my experience with Schoepp-I now feel safe posting this because enough time has passed, I was fearful of backlash from Schoepp at first if I posted this. Shortly after moving to Madison in 2016 my car broke down. I went here after I found a good deal on a car online, that offered monthly payments within my budget. When I went there to see if I could test drive it, the vehicle was nowhere in the shop so I was offered a test drive in a 2013 Corolla instead. It looked decent, test drive went well. It was explained to me that the vehicle I was originally looking at, I wouldn't be approved for finance because it was an older vehicle. I did my research while I was waiting and it checked out-car lenders are more willing to finance newer vehicles. I signed for the vehicle and didn't think much of it. Last year, I thought about looking for a new car-I was seeing much newer models on the market for the same value as I had left to pay on the Corolla. I go into another Madison dealership to check out vehicles, they run a Carfax report. Low and behold, the vehicle I had been driving since 2016 was involved in a FRONT END COLLISION! And this was never revealed to me before the time of purchase. The other dealership referred me to sort of a watchdog regulation office in the state of WI that can mediate between consumers and dealerships if need be. I had a chat with a representative from that office. Per the information I found out, if a car was involved in a front end collision, this must be formally documented and revealed to the consumer. In the process, we were told by someone on the management team of all three locations that "it doesn't matter what the Carfax report has in it, there's really no weight to them." This was after he had the CarFax report of the vehicle Schoepp motors sold me in his hand. Excuse me??? You don't say? Here's what Edmond's has to say about Carfax: Carfax reports all maintenance and repair data, if the vehicle was serviced by a shop that reports data. My partner and I fought tooth and nail to get the car returned, my loan written off, and a little bit of money back from the deal. We literally had to threaten to take them to court to get the result that we wanted, and the manager we were dealing with simply responded that we'd loose. The final kicker was when I actually dropped the car off. I read over the paperwork and nowhere did the agreement read they were buying my car back "as is." Well, buyer beware. We got a good deal here but you have to walk in with knowledge. I also have a friend who has purchased numerous cars here and gotten good deals. But here are some things to note. When we were going to leave they wouldn't let us and cornered us at the door. They had our license plates off our car before we agreed to anything. After we signed the papers for what was a good deal they literally threw my new keys into the new car as they were locking up the store. lol. read more

Had $20000 cash to buy a truck I viewed online. When I walked in the door the salesman asked me how much I wanted to spend at which point I stated 15-20 thousand. This clown looked at me like a second class piece of garbage... little did he know I was a cash paying customer that deserved respect. Lost my business and I probably should have selected a salesman not wearing boat shoes... next time maybe this moron will treat a customer who has more $ falling out of their pockets than he makes in a year with respect!!!!! read more

If I could give this no star I would. WORST POST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I have never seen or even think that treating their customers the way they did can keep their business running. I worked with the sales man called Chris. He suppose to order a part for the car and have it in for me in a few days. They never did until two weeks later and ordered the wrong part and was denying responsibilities. He would not pick up my phone calls or answer the text messages. Overall experience with this place is that they try to attack you and push you to buy the car and then after you sign, its like they never even seen or knew you. I will begin by stating the obvious, to get a good deal on a car here you need to come in prepared and knowledgable. That is true everywhere though. Reality is, I got a decent reliable car from this dealer. The final transaction was smooth because they partner with many financial institutions. The original sales guy I dealt with was cool. Seth was laid back and easy to talk to. However once I said I wanted to think about the car overnight as opposed to signing immediately, the general manager came in. This is where I agree with previous posts on the questionable sales tatics. My keys were taken to inspect the trade in value on the car I was turning in and didn't reappear for about an hour, even after they told me bottom line value on the car. In addition I had to listen to a sob story about how my sales guy was on a cold streak for sales and my sale could really save the day. Really? Wait, did I mention the 1200 times I said give me til morning and I was told just to sign NOW? I get asking for the sale and being assertive, its the job. I'm just saying that behavior is a little more questionable than I experienced when I bought other cars. It is not how you build relationships with customers to keep them coming back. So, if you know your stuff, give Seth a call and see what he can do. Just be prepared for shenigans if you don't sign asap. read more

If youre buying a used car here make sure you really look it over. I drove 3 hours to buy a car that I was told was perfect. It definitely was not perfect. The car had all kinds of rock chips in the paint. I dealt with the salesmen Charlie Condon. The guy is definitely a liar. I usually take these reviews with a grain of salt but I was blown away by how "fake" he was. After being there for 2 hrs I got him to knock off a few grand on the car which was still not enough. He is the typical car sales men thats for sure. read more
