I have had the opportunity to observe Mary Beth's professional skills as well as interpersonal style. She is consistently pleasant, knowledgeable and compassionate, and takes on her role as therapist with enthusiasm and dedication. I wish all professionals had Mary Beth's attitude. It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation and review. All the best Mary Beth! - Cheri

Mary Beth Cooke was recommended to us by a fellow co-worker for couple's counseling. To start out…read morewith she was an hour late to our 1 o'clock appointment, in return she did not charge us and I appreciate that. That's about the only thing, Mary Beth was extremely unprofessional in more than one way. A few examples are that she asked why my significant other why they hadn't committed suicide yet, she also breached the confidentiality of another patient in revealing their name and that they were a patient. On top of the unprofessionalism she was very one sided and belittling. She used slang to refer to a person struggle I have dealt with for years, its triggering and quite hurtful. She continued on to tell us that we shouldn't be in a relationship (on the first visit). Coming to a professional for help I expect them to help identify communication errors, give us coping skills and better ways to communicate. Over all I would not recommend Mary Beth to anyone for couples counseling. In my 14 years of therapy, this was by far the worst experience.

In 2020 we were navigating Covid, 2 kids under 2, and an intense medical journey with our disabled son to find out his exact diagnosis. Our marriage struggled through the typical SAHP vs working parent dynamic. My husband was overworked and stressed from being the sole provider for our family during this difficult time. I was complete overwhelmed by day-to-day life with 2 very young kids plus the added stress of navigating (mostly virtual) specialist Dr appts, therapy (physical, speech, and occupational), and learning everything I could about child development to help my son at home since our access to professionals was limited. Susan sided with my husband. I specifically remember her suggesting I allow him 20 minutes to "decompress from his work day" when he comes home. The final straw was when she suggested once a week or so I tidy the house before he gets home and greet him at the door with a fresh cocktail. This is after the fact that we had told her multiple times we are not big drinkers (which kept coming up since oddly many of her suggestions for spending quality time together included drinking). Gag. My husband was equally mortified by these suggestions (even though they benefit him) and we made the mutual decision to discontinue therapy.

I took my son here on the recommendation from other doctors for counseling. That he might be having his symptoms from anxiety. He was having some medical problems but no medical abnormalities were showing up with orthopedics, GI docs, cardiologists, that explained it all. A nurse practitioner here started treating him for anxiety and the meds took the edge off which helped. After about a year I became concerned, that something else was still going on. Symptoms were getting treated but not the root cause, things were getting worse again. When I asked the NP if we should explore other causes, she asked me, "like what?", "are you concerned about ADHD or something?" I said I didn't really know anything about it but would like to hear her opinion or discuss other possibilities. Then she said, "I just see two stubborn personalities." Right in front of my son!!!!! I tried to politely get through that appointment but I'm sure my shock was showing. I never went back! Since then I found an awesome doctor for a legit psychology eval for my son. Full blown ADHD. I had no idea! ADHD is not what I thought it was and it does not always mean your kid is hyper. I wasn't even looking for that diagnosis and honestly questioned it at first. Especially since my recent experience with incompetence at this place. The attitude and ignorance of the NP I was working with was completely unprofessional and lacking in differential diagnosis. Since my son started a small dose of ADHD meds and I have learn a lot of tools for the ADHD brain, our world has completely changed for the better. This all happened in the fall, about 6 months ago. Looking back I can see more clearly. I have since found out that not all nurse practitioners can prescribe the meds for ADHD. I don't know if that is the case here but it does make me wonder. I'm sure some correctly refer out and reach for other resources when they need to, like good medical professionals , even if it means transferring a patient elsewhere, which would have been helpful. This one however did not and chose to be defensive, or something, instead. Ask questions! Just because someone says it, does not make it true. My son does have anxiety, partly correct diagnosis, but there was an underlying problem, that was getting overlooked!! Not on accident, but by ignorance of this NP, after so long. I regret I didn't see it sooner. Hope I can help others avoid this situation. CHADD.org has been a great resource if you are curious or need a 2nd opinion. I have no connection to it except I learned what ADHD is and isn't, also other resources in the area.

And apparently shouldn't have prescribed me anything considering I hadn't, and still haven't seen a therapist. Zero stars. To be clear, the people in the actual facility are very nice. However, the companies practice is really really really bad. Unless you just want virtual sessions which they push very hard, mindful health has been literally zero help to me. It's actually been the opposite with the medication they prescribed. I've had a net negative experience with them.
