Leaving a yelp review for a dentist seems weird, but I see there are others so... My family has…read morebeen very happy with Elmbrook Family Dental for 20+ years, starting when Dr. Brunner was just a kid! I recently completed a tooth implant process that took several months (remove 40-year old crown, bone graft, wait for that to heal, implant post, wait for that to heal, implant!). The whole process was about as painless as it could possibly be. One of the things I like best about Elmbrook Family Dental is that they explain things clearly -- throughout the process Dr. Plecas explained each step, what the options were, what he thought the best option would be, and why. Knowing about the bone graft was especially important to me, and seeing what the part of the implant would be and how it all went together was cool. I was initially concerned because my son's wedding was coming up, and I didn't want to have a big hole in my mouth for pictures. Dr. Plecas discussed options with me -- the full process wouldn't be complete before the wedding. If I wanted, we could have gotten a temporary fake tooth there, but he thought I should wait and see how it looked. Once the tooth was removed I found that the space wasn't very noticeable at all. I'm very glad that I didn't spend the extra money on a temporary tooth! It feels like we know everyone there - we've been there for years, and at times we had six family members going. My older kids only stopped going there when they totally left the area; while they were in college out of state they still went to Elmbrook Family Dental, scheduling appointments around their breaks. One of the other things I like about Elmbrook Family Dental is that they keep up with processes, technology, and materials.

I had been seeing Dr. Brunner for about 13 years for general dentistry. Since his TMJ training, my…read moregeneral dentistry appointments have been awful. It's a hard sell for TMJ services with every appointment. Cost for TMJ services: Assessment $650 and treatment $5400-6500 (services weren't clarified) with payment required upfront. He says he uses a third-party to maximize insurance payout and after that is received, he would refund anything that insurance covers. When I asked what patients do when they can't afford this treatment, he became defensive and explained that he couldn't provide services for free (which I wouldn't expect). I found a local (TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Center) doctor who is excellent, fitted me with a night guard for under $200, and that has very clear patient costs for services after insurance, and charges much less overall.

They made three uppers and have yet to get it right! I was told they would try "one more" time! Thousands of dollars. Dr Patel used old, ill fitted and broken, dentures to get an impression fir the new dentures. I've had canker sores in my mouth for months as I'm wearing "temporary" dentures. I cannot chew food and need to cut up all food. To be told they would make one more upper denture and that's it. Imagine?, a total of three months, I may walk out with my original partial and denture. HOW will I manage when the teeth that were fit for the partial have been extracted? I was given a lower denture as the final product- They do not sit on my gums because the impression was taken with the original teeth still intact. Ridiculous. I mentioned this multiple times asking just how the new denture will fit if there are pockets of where the teeth that were about to be extracted. YIKES! sure enough - pockets in the final lower! Then the manager stepped in and said "no, that's a mistake, that was a temporary lower - I ALREADY HAD A TEMPORARY LOWER. I'm shaking as I write this. The owner was there for one of the "final uppers" were given. She totally agreed that they were unacceptable. When I went back I was seated in a room where I sat for nearly 30 minutes with nurse Kim appearing to say "we'll be right in". I left. Finally went back only to be given the SAME SHAPE, FIT AND COLOR as the ones Dr T, the owner, wrote specifically what needed to be done. I surrender. I still sent my son there for an extraction as I like the staff and appreciate the owner and the managers concern. Too bad, Dr T, the owner was there but once in the three months of appointments. After her opening a few more locations I have been extremely disappointe. I would go to CHOICE before choosing Aspen.

Office staff all very friendly and professional. I appreciate that they have emergency dental…read moreservices. I'm very dissatisfied and somewhat angry. First, I came in with a very painfully infected tooth. I felt like they used my pain as leverage to try and get me to spend between $500 and $900 that day. They could have done something to manage some pain. Told the only way to manage pain was to spend $500. I did have the procedure done about 2 weeks later. Again faced with a lot of pain. Especially upset at that point because the partial they made was a significantly different color from my teeth or other denture. I asked about this a couple of times and was told that in reality it is what it is and that they only have a few shades to work with. Something should have been said when they were scanning me for the partial. I'm told in 6 months they can do better. I highly suspect they just don't want to spend the money and correct their mistake when scanning, before printing the partial.
