They should change Furstenau to Caminadaville. SEriously he is the mayor of the place. If the castle Schloss is the progressive cuisine inspired by all things over the world using the local produce, Casa Caminada is the nod to his Grison upbringing. Have you heard the Romansh language? Neither have most Swiss people, and it's one of their national languages. But it exists here! It's a small B&B, a bakery, food larder, and traditional cooking (think Capuns!)...it's a cafe hangout or the town center... I wish I could live in Caminadaville!

The Bündnerteller of sliced meats was fine, and made a good shared appetizer --- don't order one as a meal, I've made that mistake in the past.

The first time I was in a four-person room, and it seemed a bit cramped, but the second time I was in a two-person room, and the room looked quite spacious with the bunk beds, little table with two chairs, sink, and plenty of storage space. It's a 20-minute walk or a CHF 15 taxi ride from the train station. Fairly quiet surroundings, as it's right next to the ski slope, but the walls are a bit thin, so you can hear rowdy people on the floor. Simple yet ample buffet breakfast of multiple kinds of bread, cereal, hot and cold drinks, meats, cheese, and yogurt. Dinner was Riz Casimir, salad, creamy pea soup, bread, water, and some kind of berry pudding for dessert. There's a bar in the hostel and plenty of comfy sofas for lounging around and watching tv. I paid CHF 215 for 2 nights in a 2-bed room + breakfast & dinner including a ski ticket for 2 days. I would say it's a pretty good deal, as this place is quite close to the ski run #15, too.

We ended up paying CHF 145 per person, per night for accommodations, breakfast and dinner and ski lift passes. That's an amazing deal, especially in an expensive country like Switzerland. The room that we got was spartan but perfectly clean and comfortable. There was a shared bathroom that again was very clean. The included meals were fine and as someone who's accustomed to inedible hotel breakfasts in the US I was impressed that a low-cost hostel would have a decent meal in the morning. The only annoyance that I could think of was that it was a pretty significant uphill walk from the train station (we ended up paying for a taxi since we were lugging boots and skis) but on the whole this was a great find.

We stayed at the Badrutt's Palace as part of my milestone birthday plans with my girlfriends…read more I'm sad to say, Badrutt's Palace turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the trip. We spent about 7,500 CHF for two connecting rooms for two nights in the basic category rooms. And these are the reasons why I am giving the Badrutt's one star: - When we arrived, at about 330pm we were told one of our rooms were not ready, because of a 'technical issue'. The official check in time was 3pm. They told us to expect the room to be ready by 530pm. Meanwhile, they offered us "complimentary tea at the Grand Hall". - The complimentary tea turned out to be a frame of small bites that was too little for the three of us, so we ordered one club sandwich and also some water. We were charged for the sandwich and water which turned out to be 75CHF. - At 530pm we went up to check into the room that was ready, as the connecting one still wasn't ready yet. It turned out that the 'technical issue' were guests who hadn't checked out. I saw the service staff cramming clothes and belongings into bags while they tried to clear out the room. - The rooms were really small. This I had heard and I thought it was acceptable considering the location of the hotel. What I did not expect was the general shabbiness of the place. Furnishings looked worn and tired. And the carpet wasn't clean. I do my nightly stretches on the carpet, and found myself cheek to cheek to some dirt / soil. I was hoping that it came from the last guest in their hurry to check out and not some vintage dirt from winter 2022. - For the next two days, we found the staff generally distracted and too busy to attend to us, whether it be a request for a kettle, a charger, soft boil eggs at breakfast, water to the table or an ice pack. Things either never materialized or you needed to remind them three times before they arrived. - On the last day of our stay, I encountered a small crash on the slopes and tore my ACL. After making it back to the hotel, I called the front office to inform them about the injury, and potential need for alternative arrangements for dinner. Their reply was, "There will be a cancellation policy of 200CHF per person if you decide to cancel dinner" - I wasn't prepared to pay 600CHF for no dinner and to mooch in a small room so I said I will go ahead with dinner, but could I please have a wheelchair to bring me to dinner. They said, of course we will bring it up immediately. We waited 1.5 hours for the wheelchair which never materialized. Finally I hobbled to the front desk to find out they had "lost the wheelchair". I was puzzled why we were not informed any earlier. I feel extremely cheated out of what I thought was going to be a luxury experience. We are not un-used to paying high prices for 5-star accommodations but for this price, this level of service and general standards of the property are unacceptable.

Such as have signs of special Champagne offered in the bar at a certain time, it comes across as gratis but it is not $15 per glass. Only other complaint is bed is a bit hard and pillows are not substantial, basically clouds. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast it's was beautiful and delicious and the lady that worked there was so wonderful.

Every piece of furniture and artifact resonates presence.And the modernization of the spa and fitness area were spectacular. The staff all live on site which shows their dedication to the resort and your service. They painstakingly memorize your whims and preferences. which sets this and other leading hotels of the world apart... Its more than 5 stars its a memory to relive again and in any shape and form ... another 30. yrs from hence OR... leave provisions in the Will....

Looked like the table next to us had taken chairs away from our table and weren't leaving just yet. It took entirely too long to get seats, so our group took it into their hands to get our chairs situated and helped ourselves to menus. It took quite awhile to get our drink and food orders taken. Most of the food took an expected amount of time to come out except 2 whole orders were missing. They must have forgotten and still had to make them. Most of the table had finished their food by the time the last 2 dishes arrived. Seemed understaffed for a busy dinner service. The customers who's meals were so late asked to be comped another round of drinks so they could enjoy it with their meal. We were able to do separate checks (requested from the start). It was also quite hot inside, and wish they would have kept the door open for a breeze. My cordon bleu was delicious and very cheesy inside, though I had ordered with pasta and it came out with fries (they brought a separate plate of pasta so I ended up with both). The hard cider was also very good. My parents enjoyed their asparagus and capuns. Overall, my group enjoyed the food but was fouled a bit by the service. Personally, it was hard to enjoy my meal when people at the table were still waiting for food. They can't seem to handle larger groups very well. The server appeared to be very frazzled and running all over the restaurant.

When I arrived the hotel was closed BUT there was a sign on the door indicating guests were to call if they need assistance. No on answered the phone when I called. Exceptionally nice people at the local restaurant attempted to reach the owners/managers of the hotel and there was no response. When attempting to resolve this issue and ask for a refund, the hotel owners insisted on keeping the money because I arrived 30 minutes after the 6pm check-in - even though I told them of my arrival time and they left a sign on their door to call for assistance. This hotel is strictly about taking money from tourists and giving no customer service. Hotel Franziskaner is a disgrace!
