If I could give 100 THUMBS UP I would. I've been a patient of Skin Specialists for a number of years. My diagnoses over the course of the years include: skin checks, skin tag removals, adult acne treatment & medications, Botox, Restylane, skin/mole biopsies, SKIN CANCER, MOHs procedure (for Basal Cell skin cancer), current skin inflammation/infection. I am putting all of this out there so reviewers & readers understand that my association with this facility isn't just a one-time visit. Dr. Schlessinger, Jackie his PA, all of the nurses up to & including the front desk staff have absolutely NEVER been short of professional, attentive, & quick to ease the mind of a nervous Nellie like myself. In my experience, they are very thorough, ALWAYS ask if I have questions (I come to my appointments with mile-long lists of questions), provide the most excellent facts & education materials, & guess what?? THEY OFFER FREE SAMPLES ON JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. So, for the reviewers that feel they are out for your money, think again. TWO THUMBS UP!! Quickly - I'd like to address the negative reviewers & maybe offer a little unsolicited advice. If you were/are unhappy with how your visit was conducted/concluded - PLEASE ADDRESS IT with he or his staff before running to make a complaint. They are human & just like any other MD/PA/NURSE/human, give yourself a chance to get it off your chest, and give them a chance to address it. Next: NOT A SINGLE PROCEDURE IS DONE HERE without the patient's written consent, including lab draws. When they tell you they are going to put you on a certain medication & ask for your pharmacy, why not interject and ask them if this med interacts with other meds, or certain diseases. In addition, I hate to sound cliché, but the 'fine print' does address possible billing issues, insurance issues, etc. Lastly, not in a million years would I believe any medical professional in this town would refer to him or his staff as a joke. Do you know he creates the main line of products he sells? HE CREATES IT. Do you know he has a history of doing medical charity work? Do you like dogs? He has a pug. I had been shopping around for somewhere to get Botox & to get a consultation about fillers. There are several places in the area, but this is the only place I found where the physician whose practice it is actually does the injections themselves. I like that. Making the appointment online was easy, filled out the request & heard back promptly. Upon arrival, I was greeted with big shiny smiles by little blonde beauties that I want to hate on sight....but they were actually incredibly warm and engaging. After taking extreme close ups (to really see how my genes & lifestyle have failed me) to help get recommendations, I spoke at length with Bethany (WHY CAN'T I HATE YOU?!) who was pleasant & very good at making one feel comfortable discussing things about your face/skin that make you uncomfortable - which is no small feat. Dr. Schlessinger then came in and was perfectly nice and refreshingly honest. He was forthcoming in what he felt I needed to get my desired result as well as good enough to tell me what I didn't need. He could've done & charged me for everything I thought I wanted, but he advised me about unnecessary treatments being just that. Bethany and I went over pricing. Full on top of the line hairline to chin or more wallet friendly treatment of problem areas. Gave her my budget & we worked our way down to a comfortable treatment plan and cost. Cassie arrived to help Bethany in assisting Dr. Schlessinger with treatment, as my medication causes me to bleed easily and they wanted all hands on deck to apply pressure as they went to minimize bleeding and bruising. The procedures went quickly & efficiently and I felt very little pain. Results will take a bit to "kick in" and there will be a 2 week follow up, but odds are pretty F'n good that I will become a regular client. The reviews here have me puzzled - are they seeing the same Dr Schlessinger that I see once or twice a year for the past 20 plus years?!? His staff has always been very professional and business-like, but NOTHING like "The Stepford Wives" as stated in at least 3 of the reviews on Yelp! Do we see a trend here? Seems a bit contrived, if you ask me! The wait time has ALWAYS been brief, the staff is friendly and I see Dr S at almost every visit. His PA, Jackie, is very warm and does a terrific job checking my skin for lesions. They have ALWAYS been good listeners, never rushed and have never tried to push their products on me. I have fair skin and spent a lot of time on the East coast beaches when I was younger. The sun damage has caught up with me, so I've had several different kinds of skin cancers. Dr S does a specialized type of surgery to remove these lesions, called Mohl's surgery. It is taken off your skin, sent to a lab and you get the results within an hour or so of the procedure. Not every dermatologist is qualified to perform this procedure, but Dr S is. I leave their offices with peace of mind, knowing that the cancer is no longer there! He has even called me at home following a difficult surgery to see if I was OK. How many doctors do THAT??? I've never met the doctor mentioned in some of these reviews, but it's NOT Dr Schlessinger! read more

If you don't have perfect skin - don't expect to get any good customer service. Being honest. Had a 'mole/wart/small bump' removed from my nose by Dr. Schlessenger 2 days before a trip i was going on. I was told it would look completely fine before my trip and that that bump would be gone.... Woke up the next morning to take the bandaid off to see skin beside the bump was taken off. So disappointed. Called the office to get in immediately to get it fixed. The moment you question his ability he turns into a whole new person. He 'numbed' the area for 2 seconds, yanked my head to the side and then - yes he did get it this time - but i also left with large scab across my nose and him walking out with out acknowledging that he fully missed it the first time. Tried to double charge me when it was fully his fault. Im a very understanding person and sometimes things happen. But to treat me so poorly? and then charge me again? He didn't own up to his mistake, didn't apologize, and didn't even acknowledge me as a client. I found another place by Village Point which is by far the best place I have ever been to with a very nice, caring staff. read more

Let me just start by saying that I have seen many cosmetic and plastic surgeons in the last couple years, and not a single one compares to Dr. Schlesinger. Dr. Schlesinger is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming surrounded by a comforting and supportive staff. I drove 2 hours to have Dr. Schlesinger give me injectable fillers, and it was worth every second. He is truly an artist and gave me the results I have wanted for so long. Dr. Schlesinger left no question of mine unanswered and provided me with all the advice and information I needed. His staff gave me a great warm welcome and the positive atmosphere they provided made the experience better than any I have ever had. The first time I went to Dr. Schlessinger I was highly impressed. I have been to countless different dermatologist and they never seemed to take my acne serious. I was always told you will grow out of. Now being 23 years old and still suffering from acne, I decided to try a household name and was recommended to Dr. Schlessinger. In the first time of meeting him, I knew there was a plan of action for my skin. He not only recommended some different skin care products for me but also put me on medication. Also another thing that I was impressed with was the friendly and knowledgable staff. I only waited 5 minutes in the lobby which was a plus. Most doctors, dentists, or dermatologist you end up waiting 45 minutes for your appointment. Nothing but positive things to say. As a teenager, I dealt with acne (which would really interfere with my self-confidence overall). I dealt with it for years, and I realized it got worse. I went to called Dr. Schlessinger's office because of a referral from my friend and business partner. The reason for my call was due to what I called was an "angry mole". They were able to get me in quickly. I was seen by both the PA, Jackie Hill and Dr. Schlessinger. Jackie and the nurse did a full body scan, they made me feel completely comfortable the entire time. Although, the angry mole turned out to be nothing, it did end up being a blessing, because they removed 4 moles that definitely needed to be removed. The wait time in the lobby was short. The wait time in the room was also short. The phone calls to the office have always been pleasant. I'm very impressed with everyone at the Skin Specialists. And it all starts with the courteous receptionist when I first walk in for my appointment, each and every member of the Lovely Skin staff presented themselves in a positive, professional manner. I took my14 year daughter in for issues related to acne. We had gone to another dermatologist in Council Bluffs for the same issue and had good success but wanted to see if there was anything different that could be done for her. The staff from check in to dismissal did a great job treating Abby with respect and treated her as the patient. They spoke directly to her and really tried to get to know her and make her feel comfortable. Jackie and her staff make Abby feel at ease with what is often a difficult subject. We discussed the treatment options and they did not try to talk me into spending a ton of money on anything. We will definitely be back for follow up. I've been going to Dr. Schlessinger for about 10 years for yearly mole checks and now 6 month mole checks. He is the only Dr. I trust to go to for my mole checks. Dr. Schlessinger and Jackie Hall have caught 8 dysplastic moles and taken them off with minimal scarring. Three of them were severely dysplastic. They caught them and treated with wide local excision. They take the time to check me over every 6 months and I usually have both of them look which gives me the assurance of 2 sets of eyes. They have also educated me about my high risk and what to look for myself and give me a print out of my biopsy when asked. I am high risk to have melanoma and Dr. Schlessinger is the only Dr. I trust to help me prevent melanoma. read more

just bought a tube of Fix My Skin Healing Lip Balm when I was checking out because I had been in the sun in Texas and my lips were dry. I've used it for a few days now and it's really done the trick. Much better than my chapstick. While I miss the Cake Batter flavor of the of the chapstick, silly as that sounds, the hydrocortisone really seems to work. Says on the label it works for poison ivy..... hope I never have to find out. read more

I've been to tons of dermatologists in the area and back east and this is the first one that has actually listened and tried to help instead of pumping me full of steroids.
