I used Schlep this week to move a large sofa and two leather side chairs from a luxury design showroom in the Fulton Market. It was a last minute move and I saw the Schlep It van in the neighborhood so I decided to give them a chance. I got a little nervous at first when it was getting close to the pick-up time and I had the building elevator reserved and they hadn't arrived yet, but they sent a text saying they were 10 minutes away. Sam and Isaac showed up in very upscale Mercedes truck/van came into the showroom and wrapped both the sofa and chairs up in plastic wrap and clean padded blankets like they were wrapping their first born. I was shocked and even asked if this was included. They replied, yes Maam. Once the babies were wrapped to perfection, Sam carefully placed one of the leather chairs on his back and off to the Benzo it went. Isaac followed with the other chair and the sofa was wheeled out on a dolly. They were fast, clean, polite and very careful with my goods. The truck/van was clean, the blankets looked brand new and the followed me to my condo. The repeated the drill and quickly and efficiently got my items into their new home. They unwrapped the goods like it was Christmas morning with both speed and caution, snapped a few pics and off they went. They were even nice to my doggie! Sam and Isaac were great, very professional, careful and clean. I HIGHLY recommend these guys and will use them again! read more

Want to eliminate everything you hate about moving furniture???? Hire Schlep It. It's that simple. Yes, that is how good they are, even though it is hard to believe, given most furniture moving experiences. When a move is confirmed, Schlep It sends photos of the men who will be moving your furniture so you feel safe about the men who are coming into your home. They are punctual! They contact you shortly before arrival. They speak English! They are well-mannered, gracious, refined. They have engaging personalities. They are personally well-groomed. Their clothes are totally clean and pressed, if the garment requires. And, importantly, they protect with full coverings and take great care with your furniture as well as the door jams, walls, etc. in your home. I have hired them twice. The first time to pick up and deliver two dressers from Evanston to Chicago. The Schleppers placed the dressers exactly where I asked them. They also, without any hesitation, performed the favor of moving my sofa. After 30 minutes after they left, I decided I wanted the dresser locations reversed. I called. They returned and reversed their placement with no, absolutely no complaints or negative comments. The second time was to pick up a love seat in Morton Grove and deliver it to me in Chicago. Again, I could not ask for any improvements in their service and I am a picky person. read more

I have moved around the city a lot - and always hate dealing with U-Hauls, finding friends to help me move heavy pieces of furniture, and dealing with the stress and anxiety of it all! When my husband and I finally bought a house this past year, we began looking for new furniture to fill the space. A friend kindly offered up a king size bed, armoire, and dresser - which of course we jumped on. The only problem - we did want to rent a U-Haul and find friends willing to help move such big/heavy pieces let alone travel to Evanston and back downtown to pick up the furniture. Schelp was the PERFECT solution!! Schelp was awesome! They not only drove to Evanston to pick up the pieces of furniture, but then drove them all down to our house and helped us move them into our home. When one piece of the furniture did not fit through our doorway (I forgot to measure -oops) they even offered to Schelp the piece somewhere else for us! I ended up calling a friend who wanted the piece and Schelp took it right over! Talk about a HUGE problem solver! They were incredibly professional, courteous, friendly, reliable and affordable. I would highly recommend them! I am going to be using them again next week to move a couch out of my house - they are great! read more

I organized a local move for my sister who had some furniture and about 30 boxes to go to storage as she preps to sell her condo. Her storage facility, The LockUP, referred her to Schlep, with whom they've partnered. What a wonderful experience ! We needed a particular date at a particular time, and they willingly adjusted their schedule to accommodate us with relatively short notice. Josue, Darryl (DJ), and Wesley did a stellar job. They were fast, efficient, knowledgeable, and especially careful to protect her silk upholstered furniture pieces. We couldn't have been more pleased. From the very 1st information gathering phone call to Omar, the customer rep, to the final drop off at her storage unit, everything was handled professionally, and expertly. My sister was called stating that the guys were running late coming to us in Chicago from Milwaukee, WI, due to traffic. Schlep automatically added a 3rd guy to her job to make up for the time lost. Wow ! Great customer service. The text alert to notify when the guys were on their way and when they arrived was very helpful, along with the tracking app. We will definitely be using Schlep again for the upcoming 2 additional local moves, and highly recommend them. read more

Just moved my daughter into her first apartment in Chicago from Glen Ellyn. These guys were ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. We had a pickup at 8am. When they got caught in traffic, the texted to say they were running late, and sent a picture of traffic to prove it. In addition, their tracker works in real time, similar to Uber, so you see exactly where the truck is in real time. We work with Sam and Stacey, and they were both kind, attentive, and worked really hard. We were only moving a bedroom into a bedroom in an apartment - so using other movers that base their prices on studio apartment, or 1 bedroom apartment caused estimates to be too high. Since Schlep charges PER item, they made the most sense for this kind of move. We had 4 larger pieces - furniture, shelving... And I counted up about 15 boxes, bags and tubs about 2 days before the move. By the time the move happened, we had about 21 boxes and bags. The price only moved by $30 from the original estimate. In total, the move took 3 hrs. They carefully furniture padded and cling wrapped the bigger pieces. We had zero damage and lots of efficiency. Could not be happier with this move, the great attitudes, and the great price! read more

Just moved into our apartment. When we received our keys there was an ad for Schlep with a promo code. I liked the idea of booking online, and adding each item you want moved and they give you an accurate estimate of how much it will cost. We were initially planning on renting a uhaul and moving the large items ourselves. The price Schlep quoted was great. Saving us the trouble of renting a uhaul truck, driving back and forth across the city, and carrying heavy items. Schelp responded immediately and confirmed the pickup time (which by the way was only hours after I had found the ad!). You get a text and a call when they're on the way with real time tracking to see exactly how close they are. Sam and Bryant showed up on time, super friendly and professional. They wrapped up items that could possible get knicked, and had everything loaded in 30 mins. Unfortunately the service elevator was broken and they had to carry very heavy items up the stairwell. They did this without any sign of frustration or annoyance (I felt bad!). Overall it was a great experience. Taking a lot of time and stress and heavy lifting off our hands. Highly recommend! read more

Really enjoyed this experience. Used them in mid November. Darryl and DaVinci (awesome name) were both professional, fast, conscientious, courteous, knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and friendly. The pickup location of my heavy credenza from a furniture store was delayed by about 20 minutes due to a communication error (not their fault - I told them they could do the pick up earlier than scheduled) and they were very patient and chill. They wrapped the credenza very safely (it was extreeemely heavy) and I got to the destination before they did and they showed up very quickly after and overcame the big obstacle of getting a 5 or 6 hundred pound piece of furniture up a half set of stairs. They patiently tried multiple ways of maneuvering the piece and finally got it inside. If I tried any other company I bet they would have given up, but Darryl and DaVinci didn't! They were awesome. They didn't have to ask me any questions about logistics. They knew just what to do. I was initially worried that the price was high, but it was really worth it. I just would never have been able to do it without them. A+ service. read more

I was referred to Schlep after I had a mover cancel on me while the move was happening. I called them and booked my Schlep for the following weekend. I just needed to move a few pieces of furniture from my cousin's apartment to mine. My Schleppers, Phil and Eric were awesome! They arrived a half hour early, ready to get going. They were courteous, friendly, careful and did a great job. They wrapped and padded each piece of furniture, and handled it all with care. Everything was out in about an hour and ready to move to my apartment. Phil and Eric arrived to my apt. in about 15 mins. and were just as efficient unloading the items. One of the items I was moving was an IKEA bead, and it needed assembly, which Phil did effortlessly. Thank you for an overall great experience, from making the reservation to the actual move. It was hassle free and easy. I wouldn't think of using any other moving company now. I'll for sure be spreading the word and recommending Schlep to anyone needing to move, whether it's big or small. Thank you!! read more

Shout out to Schleppers OD and Eduardo!! They get hero status today for going above and beyond to move my couch out of storage and into my second story apartment!! I was suffering from ptsd from the first time I attempted with a friend to move this on my own- just watching them wrestle that heavy beast up my stairs. Schlep was by far the most reasonably priced of the 15 some quotes I got prior to booking. OD and Ed showed up on time and sent thorough communication in advance so I would have enough driving time to meet them at the storage facility and not have to waste time waiting on a large window. They even helped maneuver other furniture out of the way and weighed in on decor opinions on which area rug to use with the new couch. They did this in the estimated amount of time and had me on my way. Super friendly and professional! I was billed exactly what I was quoted with no hidden fees. I will most definitely use Schlep in the future and would highly recommend the company and OD and Eduardo to anyone looking to move! read more

I have used Schlep 3 times and all three times I have had great experiences. They have always arrived early, been incredibly courteous/professional and efficient. I used them 2x for moving items into a storage unit but more importantly they got me out of a really sticky situation. A less than scrupulous contractor (see JES services review) abandoned my kitchen project before the needed to assemble kitchen cabinets had been received. I was able to put the order in on their website, but spoke to someone from Schlep (I wish I remembered his name!!) to make sure this was something in their scope of work. They were incredibly kind and supportive (even gave me a discount) and we were able to coordinate with the shipping company and my building manager to receive and bring up 1200 pounds (yes 1200 pounds) of solid wood cabinets into my unit. They even gave me some names of more reputable contractors to help me get my project back on track. They went above and beyond for me during a stressful time. Thank you Schlep :) read more

I came across Schlep through their Instagram and it was perfect timing because I needed someone to help me move a craigslist purchase I was trying to make. I had compared them to a couple other services, and Schlep was definitely the most cost effective option I found, and they even answered all of my questions and concerns up front. The whole process was a breeze--I went online and booked my schlep in about 5 minutes, and they confirmed my requested time and date almost instantly. On the day of the schlep, they texted me to let me know they were on their way (I could even track their progress) and arrived to the pickup address with coffee for me. Fernando and Josue were courteous and efficient, and got my dresser wrapped up and in their truck quickly. Drop off at my apartment was easy as well, and they even unpacked and placed the dresser exactly where I wanted it. I would definitely recommend them and plan to use them again for any future furniture purchases I make! read more

Today, I had Schlep move 2 pieces of furniture for me for the first time. It went unbelievably well and I loved working with them! Daryl and Kris (with a K) arrived on time and conducted themselves like professionals. They carefully and thoroughly wrapped the items to be moved (a 2-piece hutch and small desk) in moving blankets, carefully placed them in their truck and arrived chez moi in record time. They carefully unloaded the items and were up the 2 flights to my condo unit in no time -- without bumping into ceilings or walls or countertops, or damaging anything along the way. They unwrapped each piece and place it where I wanted it and took all the tape and blankets with them when they left. These two gentlemen were total pros -- respectful, polite, helpful. I'd recommend them highly and, as somebody who has had my share of drama with past moves and movers, that's saying a lot! read more

I used Schlep a few weeks ago to move a dining room table and buffet from my daughter's house to mine. I loved how easy it was to book online and see exactly how much each piece of furniture would cost to move! I received an email reminder about the scheduled move as well as text messages the day of letting me know when they would arrive. Jonathan and Blaise were very friendly and professional. They wrapped and taped the furniture so everything was well protected. They were challenged when they had to move the furniture into my basement but took their time and strategized how to accomplish the task. They ended up having to remove the top from the table to barely squeeze it down the stairs. Jonathan and Blaise did not give up or tell me they couldn't move the furniture. They were great! The moving price was extremely reasonable. I would definitely use this company again! read more

I first used Schlep when they were just starting out a number of years ago and they did a fantastic job helping me move into my apartment. When it came time for us to move into our new home, calling Schlep was a no brainer. I spoke with Omar to help coordinate the move, and he was incredibly responsive and helpful. It was only in the elevator after speaking with Daryl about my move in with Schlep years ago did we both realize that he was also there for my move in! What luck! I was immediately put at ease knowing that I was in great hands again, and this time with his team members Malik and Avian. They showed up early, were super careful with all of our stuff, fast, kind and professional throughout the entire move. I will absolutely continue to recommend Daryl and the Schlep team to anyone and everyone who is moving. Keep up the great work guys! read more

I must admit, I was skeptical at first, but so far so good with these guys. I have used them 2x in the past week or so to have some boxes moved to our new office space. First time was 31- medium sized boxes, with two movers. The second time two desks and two chairs with one mover. Both times around the service was great. Only one very minor hiccup with the second pick-up, but they had scheduled two movers and the driver was a bit early so the other mover was not ready. No big deal, I helped the guy move some things and let Schlep know only one mover arrived (the driver told me to let them know). Not only did they credit the difference for only having one mover, they gave me a discount code for my next use. What a great start and fantastic resource so far. Will definitely recommend to others and continue using in the future. Bravo! read more

This is more than a recommendation. This is a standing ovation. Schlep literally saved the day yesterday. The nonprofit I direct had our huge fundraiser last night and when Jonathan from Schlep went to pick up all the wine and spirits for the event, none of it was ready and the company got the order totally wrong. Instead of just leaving, which would have been totally understandable, Jonathon waited for not 1, not 2 but 5!!! hours until he had our order. This was an event for 600 people, raising money for cancer research. I do not know what we would have done if Schlep had not gone so far above and beyond for us. We use Schlep all the time and they are always wonderful, professional, reliable, flexible, and kind. They had my recommendation before but after yesterday, they have my deep gratitude and admiration. read more

I've always lived in cities without cars or with teeny cars, which makes moving suck. I'm also a single woman and didn't know anyone in the city--double suck! My apartment was much smaller than I realized, and ended up in a crappy situation where some heirloom furniture just did not fit--but it fit in my office. The problem was even if I rented a Uhaul truck, it was just me, myself, and I. Enter Schlep. They were friendly, strong, and very careful with my belongings. They moved two pieces of furniture from my house to my office for a super reasonable estimate, and that was that! Whole thing over and out of my cluttered apartment in a few minutes. Schlep is ideal if you need a hand with getting an item from Point A to Point B and don't want to burden friends or family, and you don't have a truck handy. read more

We were coming to the end of a big move for my mom and realized a crawlspace was still filled with boxes and other assorted junk. The project was too big for just me and too small for a pricey moving company. Schelp and Jose Hernandez slipped right in the middle. The Schelp request was easily placed online, the in-between email communications were reassuring, and then the day-of texts and calls with Jose left no doubt things were proceeding as planned. Jose was friendly and professional, knocked out the work efficiently, and made certain it was to my satisfaction. The cost was extremely reasonable and finally payment was a quick phone signature. Big thanks to Schelp and Jose for getting this job off of my plate. Stay warm out there! read more

Moving day I was informed the freight elevator was not working. This made my move longer than expected. I had a time crunch at the destination so we had to cut it short and leave a few things til the next day. I booked a job with Schlep for the next day to get the remainder of my things out.I became nervous when I got a text saying my Schlepper was delayed 15 min after he was supposed to arrive. Jonathan took the original Schleppers place but couldn't get there until an hour later. To speed things up he called Fernando to meet us at the destination. They both did an excellent job. Highly recommend this company!!!They turned my upside down moving disaster around. THANK YOU JONATHAN AND FERNANDO!!!!!! Catherine read more
