Burger and half order of fries
    Melissa P.

Stopped in wanting to try something new. We had a burger, wings, fries and sweet potato fries. Overall it was good. The prices were a little higher than indicated here depending on what you get. Wings were $10.50 and they were just ok. Tasted like they were probably frozen rather than fresh. The sweet potato fries were awesome. Serving was a little small for $4.50. We will definitely come again. If you do try it bring cash! They don't take credit or debit but do have an ATM ( wasn't working tonight

Not great, not bad. We were looking for a quick lunch and settled on this place…read more I'm from out of town but this looked vaguely diner-esque so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's an older place that has been several bars/restaurants before settling into "Old 50" - a name that doesn't exactly make my mouth water. Inside it has plenty of room. There's one room to your right as you enter but up on the left you turn into their main room - there's a bar there that isn't really in use! That's a shame too cause it looks real nice! A little polishing and some decoration and it would make a nice focal point! We sat in a booth. Got soup with our meals to start. Kind of a heavily salted vegetable soup but it was all right. I had the turkey club. I've had better. Could have used more mayo, turkey was a little dry. Fries were all right. My wife had the open faced turkey sandwich - the gravy greatly helped that dry and somewhat bland turkey. I want to like it more, but the food - I don't know. It has a large diner style menu so, if I'm in the area I'd be happy to try it again. These older style americana diner-ish places need to be kept around, even if they need a little improvement.

If you like a good old fashioned breakfast diner experience, then the Old 50 Cafe is your spot…read more We're talking big portions, hearty menu items (not a microgreen in sight), and constant coffee cup refills. Yes, please. On my visit here, I ordered the breakfast horseshoe, which is a menu item I noticed on multiple menus in Southern Illinois but haven't ever seen it elsewhere. Apparently, it's a variation of a classic horseshoe sandwich that originated in Springfield, Illinois. Anyway, my breakfast consisted of a bed of hashbrowns, topped with biscuits, two breakfast sausage patties, all smothered in gravy and topped with two eggs your way (I got them scrambled). It was a gravy drenched delight. The kind of breakfast that will have you saying things like 'whew! That really sticks to your ribs' and 'my tummy is so happy right now.' No? Just me, then? The service was kind and attentive (our coffee cups were kept delightfully full) and the prices are super reasonable. Get to it!

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and a great sunny day. The Loading Dock Bar and Grill is a very popular spot with plenty is space to enjoy a nice cocktail, decent food along the Mississippi River. Several bars on the property can handle the large space the Loading Dock has. Whether it's sitting inside or outside, you can find a decent space for any size of group. The Loading Dock has all the draft and bottle beers you'd expect as well as plenty of tasty libations to satisfy any pallet. Service at the bar was really good and drinks prices were pretty reasonable. Food menu was pretty limited with mostly fried items, but they do make a pretty good chicken wrap and fries. Overall great experience at the Loading Dock Bar and Grill. Highly recommend anyone in the area stop by for a visit, you too will have a great time.

I know it can get busy and sometimes they have live music which is fun. This isn't a fancy cocktail lounge, it's a fun place to come and grab a drink and enjoy the river. The prices aren't the best for cocktails but not the worst. I've had some of their food in the past and it's typical bar food. Nothing I crave but something to eat while drinking.

We were headed to the airport and I searched for a 'diner like' place just off the interstate around an hour away. I came across Powhatan, and while the outside didn't look like much in the photos, the food looked great and the reviews were excellent. I bookmarked it, and sure enough it didn't disappoint. The outside is a basic restaurant attached to a hotel/motel. Think side of the road bare bones motel. Honestly, if I hadn't read the reviews I would have just kept on driving. Inside was very nice - not fancy but very bright, clean and welcoming. There was also a small slot machine area off to the side if that's your thing. I ordered the Pocahontas Pride, which was chicken friend steak, two eggs, hash brown casserole (I opted for plain hash browns) buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. I think it was $15. And it was enough food for two people easily. Very good, and very filling. My daughter ordered boneless wings (I tried a couple since there was too much food for her) and she and I both loved them. I'm normally hesitant to order wings outside of my normal places, but she will order them anywhere and she gave them great praise. She also added 1/2 order of onion rings which were both great and ample - I thought they actually got the order wrong there were so many. Wife wasn't feeling well, so she ordered a simple order of hash browns and liked them. All in all, a great experience for a quick stop during a long drive. Again, without reading the reviews in advance, I doubt I would have ended up at Powhatan. But I'm glad I did!
